Man, a pro art px14 with a 3k 120hz oled would have been an instant buy for me. 2 in 1 high refresh rate oled with a dedictated GPU, great build quality, an active digitizer, and a black, understated design. I've been practically begging for this for years. Please, if anyone at Asus sees this, push it up the ladder and make it happen.

They aren't even trying anymore. These are just G16, RogFlow Z13 and X13 with ProArt stickers. Also, they messed up not including at least 90Hz and not using the trackpad as pen function. RAM is soldered as well; it doesn't accomplish the function of a ProArt.

60hz is pretty unacceptable for a premium laptop in 2024. They could have easily used the 2880 x 1800 120hz OLED panel from last years vivobook/zenbook which would have been a much better option. The marginal increase in sharpness from a 4k panel (which is pretty redundant anyway on a 16 inch notebook) is not worth the drop in refresh rate.
@NotebookcheckReviews
@NotebookcheckReviews 3 месяца назад
I think it is quite a bummer as well; then again, last year's panel had the "grain" from the touch layer, which I haven't seen on the newer panel ...

ProArt is only 60Hz...! What were they thinking?!
@scottdpeterstv
@scottdpeterstv 3 месяца назад
Man I have mixed feelings about the new ProArt lineup and had that same thought as you when I saw the new P16 which was that it was a more professional G16 and I absolutely love that. What I don't like is 60hz on an OLED, but I suppose you do get stylus input and 4K (there's always a sacrifice!). It also seems they took away the stylus input on the touch pad which I thought was a great feature on the previous gen ProArt 16. I do wish they had more higher end GPU options for the 16 and honestly think at the end of the day the G16 is the better creator machine especially since the P16 has a tri-fan cooling system opposed to a proper vapor chamber found in the 4080 and 4090 models of the G16. The P13 is a sneaky, possibly fantastic machine though! Thanks for the great content as always!
@NotebookcheckReviews
@NotebookcheckReviews 3 месяца назад
That pretty much sums up my thoughts about the P16. It looks and feels awesome, and the screen will be amazing for anything color-critical. However, I also feel like it is held back by the missing higher-end GPU options. You can get it with 64 gigs of RAM, though, which is a big advantage over the G16.

All delivered at a ground-breaking 120w TDP 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽..BRAVO.. I'm guessing this particular choice has to do with choosing a thermally compromised chassis from the g16 ..wtf🥺.. ASUS throws everything against the wall and hopes some stick. This is not a good business model. I would prefer that they have fewer models, make them the best they can, and spend money on QC, including better warranty support. Investing in so many variants it is obvious that quality, investment and support will suffer as the pot is split in too many ways. So, ASUS remains an OEM that I would never buy a consumer/prosumer PC from.

It's so frustrating that this TUF A16 isn't being offered *without* a dedicated GPU as that would cut a big chunk off the price and still offer something to those looking for a current day 1080p medium experience. And a 1080p ultra experience for... it's blasphemy to even suggest I know... OLDER GAMES. It's honestly depressing how obvious this is and yet it will likely be ignored as a segment by every single OEM because they don't have the "data" to suggest it would sell well. If the option doesn't exist, then how do you expect consumers to vote for it?

I get the appeal, but I still think not many people would buy a gaming-branded product without a dedicated GPU. But I might be wrong. Apparently, XMG is launched two new models which should fit your needs. But I think they are stuck at Hawkpoint and Meteor Lake for now!

@@NotebookcheckReviews What I'm asking for isn't that exotic. You guys have reviewed the HP Victus 15 FB0354NG for $645. Well, that has an RX 6500M in it. Guess how many GPU CUs it has? 16 All I'm asking for is a 2024 model of that with a newer graphics architecture. Strix Point has the same number of CUs as the 6500M - but it should perform even better because it will have access to more RAM and have latency benefits due to being an APU. If you don't think about the hardware norms, but instead think about the performance bracket then it's just entry level 1080p gaming. How is that niche? That's the volume share of the market! I'm not sure what the point of AMD rebranding their nomenclature was if not to highlight that these APUs are powerful enough to stand on their own two feet. What? The iGPU gaming performance is good enough to show off on stage for a premium thin and light that we should be happy with... but there's simultaneously no way the performance is enough for entry level 1080p gamers in a normal sized laptop? Huh? How does that make sense... I get it. We're not used to thinking about APUs as sufficient for gaming, but brother - we're there if you don't care about cutting edge settings. People are broke man, an option like this would be a great alternative to console gaming. I just don't know who to explain this to that would care to take the idea seriously. Thanks for the heads up on XMG, but I seriously doubt their Strix Point laptops will be price competitive.

Well, there is still the A14. I would say the A16 is still portable enough. The screen goes up to 165 Hz, very much like the smaller 14"

hmmm... with this, i assume next ROG Flow Z and X Series will using RTX 50 Series. ProArt such a bootleg ROG Flow Series.

Interesting ... not sure how I would think about that. On one hand, it would make the Flow much more capable; on the other hand, it's great because it is so incredibly portable.

I wonder how the new integrated AMD gpu works. I thought i saw a slide that said around 30%. That would be wild. Were right on the cusp of AAA gaming with the 780M. That would take us there.

And yet the apple chips have been there for 4 years now and increasing year to year. Can’t wait for actual apu/gpu competition to catch up so we can ditch the whole nvidia scum shit
@torpedospurs
@torpedospurs 3 месяца назад
That would be Strix Halo later this year or early next year which will have 40 gpu compute units and up to 128gb of RAM. That will make them 2.5 times as powerful as these Strix point chips which have 16 compute units.
