I love how Basculin is just one entity now and not blue or red. It makes sense cuz it’s back in time before Basculin probably reached Unova and evolved to be separate colors. So it’s just one variant while Basculegion is the blue/red fish.
I just realized the forces of nature are based off of the four guardian animals of Japan. There is: The scarlet bird suzaku: tornadus The white tiger byakko: landorus The blue dragon seryu: thunderous And finally the black tortoise genbu: the new force of nature. The reason she has a snake is because genbu is normally depicted with a snake wrapped around or a snake like neck.
@@shadelightss japan and china share the tradition, names are different however and the black tortoise in china does not have a snake on it just a large turtle
So the goomy line went from being a slug to being a snail, while decidueye, a pokemon based on a extinct bird, is no longer ghost type in a game based on the past. I really like what they did here
Regular Goodra line is based on slugs; Hisuian Goodra gets a shell instead. Avalugg is based on the core part of a glacier; Hisuian Avalugg is based on the end moraine (the very last part of the glacier tongue) instead. Thats why its ice on top, rock at the bottom, with those two "sheets" of ice hanging down its face. If you compare images of end moraines with Hisuian Avalugg, you cant unsee the similarities.
I know typhlosion looks a bit weird, but I’ve seen the idle animations with the flames and it honestly looks cool as hell. (They always have flames, the leaked models just don’t for some reason.)
I mean I always liked the normal typhlosion cuz of its determent looks in his eyes and the flame that came out of his neck during battles, like he is ready to rip some puss. Now the new variant we got is fine with the purple flame, but Jesus he looks like toasted high without the flames. It look like typhlosion but with ED.
I’m going to wait to watch this but I just wanted to say that the way you handled the thumbnail compared to other RU-vidrs is amazing. Doesn’t spoil anything and tells there are spoilers thank you for not putting spoilers in the actual thumbnail itself.
I saw an observation of the new dialga and palkia forms on a different video: They seem to both remove the bodypart that is needed for their signature moves (mouth for roar of time and arms for spacial rend) so it could be a form of punishment from arceus Edit: after seeing gameplay it seems dialga still has its mouth however palkia just doesn't have any arms so get recked you pink fu-
Just looked at Ursaluna again and realized that Ursaluna’s design might represent the night sky. The circle on his forehead is the Moon (full moon actually) along with his eyebrows being the clouds. This makes me appreciate Ursaluna even more.
This is crazy. Apparently there are new weather conditions, 25 new crazy op moves, and two new status conditions that boost up ice type Pokémon. Also, Arceus and Giratina may have new forms that may get a day one patch, based off of new handheld items, and a new plate for Arceus. Edit: You can now swap out pokemon move set at anytime. You don't need heart scales to remember moves anymore
If the moveset thing is true, it would just be the logical next step We went from Heart Scales, to getting it for free The next step is of course allow it everywhere
To be honest i like seeing the new pokemon before release because it helps me decide which starter to pick and how to make my team. I'm mainly avoiding story spoilers.
Same. That’s how I like to play, too. Learning about the new Pokémon, so I can create my team. They’re the only spoilers that I will accept. The story and so on, I want to discover myself while playing.
I hope a game in the Modern Era of the timeline has these forms available as like a "fossil revival" where you use a fossil and combine it with a descendant to obtain their Ancient Form. You can obtain the originals through rifts too, so instead the rift concept can be used too.
I honestly like the new forms for the two legendaries of Diamond and Pearl, however why did Palkia lose it’s arms, and Dialga just vibes like: ‘this is fine.’
I assume the GRASS-FIGHTING type increase is due to the setting of the game, in this, Pokemon are perceived as extemely dangerous creatures that WILL kill you. Whereas past games, sure they were dangerous, but many often had a soft side and were recognized similar to a pet or playmate.
A thought I had with the forces of nature is that their altered forms remind me of the four beasts or whatever they’re called. Tornadus is the vermillion bird, Thunderus is the azure dragon, Landerus is the white tiger, and the new one is the black tortoise. As for what the new one’s weather I have no clue what it could be, maybe it cancels out the other weather effects.
I am looking forward to finding this out myself, in a week when I buy the game, but I'm sure they'll be a bunch of amazing videos here for this game as always Austin John, looking forward to them
That new force of nature pokemon makes me think now they have a four beasts theme with their therian forms. Tornadus is the Vermillion Bird, Thunderus is the Azure Dragon, Landorus is the White Tiger, and that new one is the Black Tortoise, it even comes with what looks like snake wrapped around it just like the common depiction of it.
Wow good observation! I just googled it and yea now it's the 4 symbols of China. I wonder if that what there were going for back in gen 5 or had a totally different idea and noticed the similarities later and decided to add this new form to complete it.
@@Astromontana In gen 5, they originally didn't have therian forms at all. The original incarnate forms were based on Fuujin for tornadus, Raijin for thundurus, and... creative liberties with landorus. Black and white 2 added the therian forms which were based on the 4 chinese beasts, with the black turtle missing. I'm not sure if the therian forms were planned out before black and white came out though. They might've.
I find that difficult to believe, because the other Forces of Nature are based on three kami named Fūjin, Raijin and Inari. The new variant might be based on another Shinto kami.
I usually don’t mind these “spoilers,” because unless they’re revealing plot details I don’t see them as spoilers to begin with, but dear lord… Those new legendaries TRAUMATIZED me!!!!
I’m intrigued to see the in-game reason for the Arceus fusion with Dialga/Palkia. They both look so weird, almost TOO weird, and that brings me to think it’s some kind of fusion gone wrong situation. I simply can’t imagine someone made those designs and went “yup, that looks normal.” So that brings me to think there’s a reason why they look f’ed up. I may be wrong, so we’ll see! I’m still very excited for this game.
There was a reddit post speculating that Dialga and Palkia look that way to essentially restrict them from using their signature moves, "Roar of Time" (Dialga controlling time with its voice) and "Spacial Rend" (Palkia bending space with its arms). It doesn't make the designs any less weird than they are, but if that hypothesis is correct, then at least it makes sense in a way.
To add to that someone in the comment section of a video similar to this said that they seem to have some features similar to arceus, as in they fused or something. I personally think they may have fused but we’re NOT on good turns at the time of fusion.
I appreciate you pointing out to people before they rush to judge Typhlosion about how it will look different when animated and emanating flame or spirit or whatever. Worth remembering people don’t like normal Typhlosion’s looks without the flame blasting nearly as much, so it stands to reason the same is true with this form as well. Keen to see it strutting its stuff! In general a lot of cool designs and typings in the list, ready to put them to the test 😄
Hey Austin John, thanks for the awesome videos and I also got an early preorder from a small deliverer. However I can recommend to the right in the first area an follow the shore , further passing the mini boss Snorlax until you reach the end of the beach. There you can easily catch some stronger pokemon to make a walkthrough faster. :D If wanted I can provide with a picture of the explored first map. Won’t spoil anything more because PLA is a breathtaking game played with good headphones!
Seeing how short the feathers on decidueye's wings are, I'm gonna go ahead and say that it's gonna be flightless and I'm asuming the new force of nature will be female only, in contrast with the other three being always male... I have a hard time believing that desing will be male only too
My take of the new Dialga/Palkia forms is that they’re the premature forms before the time/space duos became whole. Idk they both look drastically incomplete to me 🤷🏾♂️
@@MARIA.sayonara Palkia looks like they just went to that website where you choose two different pokemon and it pumps out an abomination that is the combination of those two. I can maybe defend Dialga. But they do both look bad.
Can I just say, Austin, your videos are chill but at the same time entertaining. I found out about you during Sword & Shield for some tips but I've been noticing the style of your videos is very calm, yet you can let out your opinion and not appear too biased or toxic, which is such a breath of fresh air and what sets you apart from other Pokétubers.
So long as there aren't any plot spoilers, I don't really mind spoiling myself on new Pokemon as I like to plan my team's out before playing the game (exploring the world and finding the potential new Pokemon for my team has never been my thing). Between the 3 starters, Hisuian Samurott is easily my favourite, so much so that I actually like this new design over its original (garunteed team member already, alongside Hisuian Zoroark). I like the new Typhlosian and Decidueye as well, but I still much prefer their original forms over their new designs (especially Typhlosian). Hisuian Liligant is another favorite design I like, it also helps that Liligant is also one of my favorite grass types and my second favorite Unova Mon (these new Hisuian forms of Unova Pokemon are really winning me over right now). I might have Liligant on the team depending on how polished Decidueye looks in game compared to this video. If I don't find any other interesting fire types or its impossible to get og Typhlosian in the game, I'll consider having Hisuian Typhlosian on my team. The other Hisuian Pokemon range from interesting to meh. The new fusions are also...interesting...where did his arms go?
Nintendo said “bibbidi bobbidi your arms are my property” 😭 Also I think Hisuian Arcanine would make for a better team member than Hisuian Typhlosion mainly because you already said you’d have Hisuian Zoroark who is normal ghost so having no type repeat on your team would be good coverage wise.
I’m trying to remember what life was like a few seconds ago, before I saw the new force of nature, dialga and palkia, back when the world made sense...
I can’t wait to watch your guides for PLA! Looking at the game and what we know, I know for a fact I’m gonna need some assistance. Your video about cooking poffins for bdsp helped me. I could finally make poffins that weren’t foul.
Dialga looks like it’s choking on something. XD Some of these designs are admittedly hit or miss with me but I think the starters look pretty slick. I’m going with Typhlosion since I love using it in HGSS.
@@simplelivingthings Why? They look really good to me. Also, why would the starters alone decide whether you buy the game? Shouldn't it be the mechanics and other new pokemon that decide that?
I do love how that voltorb and electrode are completely different to the kantonian counter parts, as kanto voltorb is very angry where as hisuian voltorb is very happy, kantonian electrode looks very happy compared to hisuian electrode who looks very angry
I saw Hisuian Decidueye and was disappointed bc it’s wings and arms looked so different. However in combat it looks so dope. Austin was right the arms are folded and when it attacks it still follow the same archer style. So the wings are there just folded now he just looks cooler and more menacing.
I hope they do a fighting>steel>fairy type combo It is probably the best type triangle Psychic>Dark>Fighting has the immunity and they just messed up the Gen 7 type triangle
I actually like Hisuian Typhlosion. The regular one is better, but the Hisuian Form reminds me of Makoto Yuki from Persona 3 (or at least it gives me strong Persona 3 Vibes). Also I'm surprised that they gave Sneasel a new evolution and gave Avalugg a new form (the latter of which is one I always forget about).
I think the new Force of Nature is bringing a new mythological background into that entire group. Specifically, I think all four of them now represent the Four Symbols of the Chinese Constelation. Tornadus being Zhu Que or Suzaku, a bird, Thundurus being Qing Long or Seiryu, an azure dragon, Landorus being Bai Hu or Byakko, a tiger, and the new member being Xuan Wu or Genbu, a tortoise entwined with a snake (First name for all is the Chinese name, second is the Japanese name). If this is the case, we might expect to find them in separate compass directions on the map, Tornadus to the South, Thundurus to the East, Landorus to the West, and the new one to the North. Pretty exciting.
I also like that Decidueye is like a Yojimbo/Bodyguard, Samurott is a Ronin, Typhlosion is like a Diamyo/Shogun, at least that's the vibes I get. I could be looking too much into it.
@@SessionSakic Typhlosion's Japanese name, Bakufuun, is also (coincidentally) the same pronunciation as the Japanese word for the Shogunate, so we were pretty sure they were invoking that pun from the moment he was announced as a starter. lol
I'm glad they're giving the johto starters some love., even if it's only Cyndaquil. While every other starter gets cool stuff, johto is stuck with nothing. I think Typhlosion will look cooler with the flames.
I think both gen 2 and gen 5 starters get shafted in everything. Like they're forgotten. But glad at least typhlosion and samurott got something. Gen 2 in general seems like the red headed step child though imo.
Decidueye reminded me of Ryuzo from Ghost of Tsushima. I really liked the autumn colors! But now I'm also in love with the new Typhlosion. It looks so adorable!
Yknow what Austin you a pretty cool guy. And your community looks way more open minded and nicer about this game compared to some Poketubers. I think I'll around and sub. Great video too. I'm pretty excited about this game regardless of the different opinions of others, I'll be the jugde of weither this game is good or bad in my taste.
Typhlosion looks like he lost all of his hope and will to live to the point where he died and became a ghost type and I love it But I'm still going to choose Oshawott
@@call_me_san cool theory I actually thought mainly about the Akan volcanic complex from the Hokkaido region when I started reaserching it becouse these volcanos were dorment for a long time and around the 19th century became active again what may resemble "coming back from the dead" like a ghost and 19th century is apparently the time period where this game takes place or at least is based on that time period from real world japan But the idea of volcanos killing people and animals being the reason of his ghost typing is also possible Especially that we know that mass death can turn nearby pokemon into ghost type thanks to basculegion We cannot be sure for now before we get at least the pokedex entry
I really hope they continue this series of going back to previous regions and exploring there history cause gen 5 and 6 both have cool stories they could go back to (the 2 kings think in bw and the war in xy) I also hope they continue this series just to have more regional variant starters or just do that’s in the main game. I also wonder if these regional forms will return outside of these games ever or will they be locked to these games like megas kinda(I mean like how there are forms that we will never see again from those games)
Same, just don’t force the ‘complete the first Pokédex’ gameplay loop again on other Legends games. It’s the one reason I’m unsure about Legends Arceus
Honestly, since the game is called "Pokemon Legends: Arceus" I can totally see "Pokemon Legends: Kyruem" or "Pokemon Legends: Ho-oh and Lugia". This would then bring three lines of Pokemon games to consoles, being the standard games, the Legends Series, and the Lets Go series
I LOVE gen 5 and also really enjoyed 6, so I'd immediately buy those legends games if they came out. They can do so much, but we already have fusion forms in gen 5. The best solution would be to have the original form with all three of those dragons together like the history says (as for Xerneas, Yveltal and Zygarde that could be tricky😅). Still beyond excited about what possibilities have opened thus far
@@jaimem1758 I know in gen 5 old Unova is described as a “kingdom” but I think it’d be amazing if “Legends: Kyurem” is set in a 1780’s colonial New York. IRL this is when America won their independence, so imagine if this game involves the player befriending both the brothers that had the original dragon, but it’s revealed they’re both trying to become the first president of the region, arguing on how to rule (truth Vs ideals) The story would be trying to find a way to get two brothers to stop hating each other, and honestly, that game might end up making the player character the leader. But imagine traveling around the colonies of 1780’s America, exploring unmapped forests finding new Pokémon.
@@bajuju7959 you made the idea sound better😂. Honestly, that possibility sounds really good if it were chosen instead of the older kingdom (the kingdom also sounds really good, but it's great to have multiple working possibilities). I just hope it also has an early year release to start off my New Year with something fun😁
i was gonna watch this, then i realized, how long has it been since i played a game blindly and was surprised, way to long.... so ill wait for friday, for a fresh experiance :D ty for the vid tho
When I first heard about the type combination for Decidueye. I was afraid it would be the worst looking one. But after seeing this design, it's easily my favorite of the three Hisuian form starters.
Decidueye was my favourite starter evolution ever, and ngl, i hate the new design, so dissapointed in some of these new designs, others are really good like arcenine for example, but hey, thats my opinion
The new arcanine form really gives off the legendary vibe. Makes you realize/understand why in the gen 1 days people would call it a legendary Pokémon.
The regional variants for the starter final forms went in the exact opposite as how I like the originals. Samurott looks menacing, Typhlosion looks chill, and Decidueye is ... different
Hisuian Decidueye is by far my favorite evolution out of the three regional starters. I really really hope Hisuian Typhlosion keeps the flames on its back. I actually like this approach with using previous-gen starters and giving them regional evolutions.
You’re on crack bro they ruined decidueye! Where’s his bow? I like all the other new forms but decidueyes new form is horrible. He was so badass before and an owl with a bow?? That was so cool. Plus a ghost/grass type suit him and was also badass. Fighting/grass is just boring asf and the new look is ugly asf. I was going to pick him but now I’ll just get typhlosion.
14:17 My immediate thought was that it kind of looks like a Yu-Gi-Oh fusion monster. Like, the Blue-Eyes Ultimate/Mammoth Graveyard thing in Duelist Kingdom
They missed the opportunity to make Hisuian Sliggoo and Goodra Dragon/Bug… Their Hisuian evolution line is literally snails. Why make it Dragon/Steel, we’ve already got Dialga in the game.
The last two are just like how Kyurem fuses with either Reshiram or Zekrom. Some third-party will forcibly fuse Arceus together with either Dialga or Palkia.
I'm sure the designs will grow on me, but so far I only like about a 3rd of them and that 3rd has a lot of type overlap. Team building might be a challenge
Idk about you guys, but even if a Pokémon is ugly, but it’s a powerhouse in any way, I’ll learn to adore the ugly thing regardless. I do miss seeing cool ass legendaries like Darkrai, Mewtwo, Deoxys, shadow Lugia, etc… but eh, I’m still curious to see what ugly Palkia’s abilities are
4:59 all they had too do is stand him back up and give him back his shell swords. I was hoping for finally a samoruott that I actually wanted too evolved my dewot into
Absolutely, has was crossing fingers to have a hisui variant of samurott because I love oshawott and dewott. I'm staying with dewott or try the typhlosion to give it a chance
I don’t want to spoil myself on the new content so I’m not gonna watch but I wanted to comment that I’m so appreciative of you not putting spoilers in the thumbnail unlike a bunch of others. I have great respect for you man. Honestly one of the best Pokémon RU-vidrs.
I have no clue what they did to Palkia. If they’re giving an option of what Pokémon to choose, I’m choosing Dialga because it looks op. And honestly I was picking cyndaquil as my starter but the way they made the final evolution brought my hopes down. Samurott and Decidueye look incredible so I’m choosing one of those two.
I saw a different image of Typhlosion where it had purple flames and it made the design look a million times better, I’m really excited to pick fire starter this time around
Yeah, I hate Typhlosion normally, because of how plain and boring it is to me, but I do like the new look. I might actually train one, but I'm torn because I hate having repeating typing, and I really want a Hisuian Arcanine. I might have to go with Decidueye.
This is the only spoiler video I’m allowing myself (just the new forms) so I know what is what (bc I a somewhat new player). The thumbnail is awesome and isn’t spoiler filled like some of the other ones I’ve seen.
So, the forces of nature I think are designed around the 4 guardians of Kyoto. Genbu the Tortoise with a snake is the new one. Then Phoenix, Tiger, and Dragon looking ones. I kinda like it.
ABOUT THE NEW LEGENDARY FORMS: Lord Dialga has its throat blocked so it can't use Roar of Time and Lord Palkia doesn't have arms so it can't use Special Rend! :)
