My head cannon is that the imaginary friend is repeating their voice lines because the prisoner (us) isn't responding. That's why they ask "can you hear me?" Because no one is giving them an answer.... Which is kinda sad :')

The reason why the painter shifts from calling you stupid or genuinely looking out for you or being your friend is because the roblux mining destroyed his personality chip or something causing him to be extremely bipolar
I love how if you avoid Z-96 the p.AI.nter gets annoyed, however if you actually get hit or die the painter will sometimes actually worry and apologize, be it sincere or trickery I’m not sure due to how he acts with the turrets
It is implied by his document that when the p.AI.nter attempted to overclock his own system to die, it fried his personality drivers That's why he sometimes acts very differently, he's literally unstable
One of the lines Painter can say after leaving is “AND STAY OUT!”, and me and a friend I was playing with heard that and just immediately went back into his room when he said that

The fact sebastian said “You cant keep me down here forever..” in a angry voice, and painter comes after and says “Sebastian promised to get us out of here” meaning sebastian and zestnter does not wanna be down there
Honestly when Painter says "Sorry" or being worried about you it shows he actually wants to keep crystal but doesnt want to hurt you too and also, about Imaginary Friend, she said "Behind you" right when my friend got seen by a turret(Luck or she knows?)
@@user-wc7nn3eg4j i think it's more that he's unstable because of his partially fried circuits. initially, he was normal and wasn't sadistic before he tried to overclock himself to die. i think the voice lines of him tweaking over killing you is him finding clarity and snapping out of his broken state
Honestly it comes more to me as like, coping for some reason. Probably being super weird but like. The way he does it is... Humorous? It sounds like he's trying to "enjoy" it or cope via humor.
hardcore mode= eyefestation appears every room whit windows and is enraged, (turrets are disabled becuz ur helping him) angler appears more often and the chance for variations is higher, pandemonium spawns wayy more and so on
What if painter, instead of wanting to come with you, didn’t believe you when you appear to be helping him, so all turrets instantly lock on and you need to wait for a reload, and any door that has Good People behind it is an instant kill or maybe more damage? It’d make sense for story reasons (probably).

complete coincidence i have found the file in its heavy contaminant and the noises were all nonesense which is extremely werid that they didnt do this but it did help a handful of players

i think sebastian's voicline "No Regerts" is a reference to Postal 4: No Regerts (yes, the typo is intentional) because he also did voicework for that game.
there's also a few new ones when a node monster passes the shop or when someone in the shop gets mr. lopee'd, the node ones don't play everytime but i've heard it once
So, sometimes when theres good people, Z-779 will mimic the intercom guy and give us SOUTH EAST WEST NORTH, and you forgot that (these indications are useless bcs we dont know which way is north, south, ect)
