I understand how big a deal winning a playoff game was for Detroit. But a kneel down as the franchise's best play? It may be the most important play, but their best play would be a Barry Sanders run.
Like Barry's run against the Cowboys where he faked multiple people out? I was at that game back in 91 or 92 or whatever it was....it just made no sense to me at the time, lol.
Falcons were actually up 21-0 after the pick 6. and going into the second half it was 21-3. still a weird pick for greatest play in franchise history though considering the patriots came back to win in overtime. So not like the interception lead to a victory. pretty sure it ended up being one of if not the biggest comeback in superbowl history as well.
which now that we’re on the topic. Kyle Shanahan happened to be the OC for that falcons team and now, as the head coach for the 49ers, has blown two 10 point leads against the chiefs in the superbowl. guy just can’t seem to secure a win (edit: fact check)
The Bills with a MADE field goal. The Browns with a 10 second clip from over 70 years ago. The Lions with a Kneel down. And the Jets... That was some grade A trolling all around.
Right?! As soon as I saw the kneel I had to confirm I read the title of this video correctly. Sure enough. It says "best" plays NOT the "most significant". An insult disguised as a "bless your heart" compliment.
@@mr.giraffe7076 nahhh it’s the Tyree catch in the Super Bowl. Eli escapes 5 Patriots and launches a bomb which impossibly was caught. They went on to beat Tom Brady and the undefeated Pats It was also in the SUPERBOWL instead of a meaningless regular season game
David Tyree had a grand total of I think either 3 or 4 catches his entire career, but one of them prevented us having to suffer hearing about 19-0 for all eternity!
The Jacoby Jones TD legit made me tear up. I didn't even know the Ravens existed back them (I was 4) but I still can feel the connection that man had to our team, Baltimore as a whole, and the world as a whole. Great player, even better person, RIP 🤲
As a life long Falcons fan... I had people texting me congrats at halftime. And my reply was it's ATL there is still plenty of time for them to mess this up. I hate being clairvoyant sometimes! 😢
Any Deion Sanders pick 6 or punt/kick return was better than that play. I'm sure Atlanta Falcon fans would rather be reminded of Deion high steppin it halfway to the end zone over a play that shortly preceded the biggest choke job in SB history.
The music city miracle was so crazy, the announcers themselves went from "yeah that broke the rules" to realizing after watching the replay's "woah its actually a lateral
Personally I think Tyree's helmet catch is the greatest play in NFL history. Everything about the stakes going into that game, what it meant for the patriots unbeaten season, Eli's legacy in NY, etc make it unmatched in my eyes. Steelers also comes to mind as you listed it here, but the stakes make it less impactful to me. Either way this was a fun video. That being said Elways run is my personal favorite as a Broncos fan. Truly one of the greatest moments from one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time.
Diehard Birds fan here, as amazing as the Philly Special was, I would still say Desean Jackson’s return TD against the Giants is the best Eagles play of all time.
Couldn't agree more. The fumbled, punt return for a TD, and walkoff win was the first image that popped into my mind because of the emotional roller coaster I felt during that play. Then, I almost immediately realized the Philly Special would probably get picked. It was a great play call and fantastic execution, so I can understand why.
@@jamiem625 not to mention it’s arguably one of the greatest comeback victories in NFL history. But the Philly Special is the signature play of Super Bowl 52 which is probably why it won.
That Cleveland Browns title winner has a little more behind it as well... that was Cleveland's first season in the NFL after the AAFC merged with them. They were the new kids on the block, and they showed the old guard that they could not only hang with em, but beat em!
You nailed the Washington highlight. Darryl Grant's pick-six vs. the Cowboys the week before and Darrell Green's punt return TD vs. the Bears five seasons later would be way up there, too, but "Goal Line, I Left, Tight Wing, 70 Chip on white" is the runaway #1.
A kneel down wasn’t the best play for the Lions. It was the catch by St Brown that sealed it. You could also say the run Barry had to beat the Cowboys in 91.
The impact and context make that play so much better than it was. but that was just a really bad throw by Kaep as well lol. And I'm a Seahawk fan. Beast Quake part 1, part 2 and Russ' throw vs Green Bay are better than that play. I might even put Kearse's miraculous catch above that. But I hate that catch because of what followed after it 🤣
As a Colts fan i remember watching that entire NFCCG in 07. Except for Jackson's interception. I had my head down in my hands praying Brady wouldn't break our hearts again. When i heard the word intercepted, i jumped oit of my seat.
I have to give credit where its due. I was expecting this to be a bunch of team highlights from last season, as most youtubers aren't aware of history beyond their own birth year. But this youtuber actuall dug deep within these team's archives. I'm not saying he made all the right picks, but at least he didn't only represent with footage from only last season.
Best Steelers play is James Harrison in Superbowl 43. Interception in his own endzone, returned 100 yards for a TD. Essentially worth a 14 point swing in a 4 point game. The Immaculate Reception is fun, but not as good or as important.
The thing about the immaculate reception is that it was the first time the Steelers ever won a playoff game in their entire history as a franchise. I agree, the play itself isn't that interesting compared to things like Troy's interception in the AFC championship against the Ravens. But the context is important.
@drgreggles you really don't know your history. The Immaculate Reception was the first Steelers playoff win in 40 years of futility of a moribund franchise and the play is a fluke to boot. Don't get me wrong, Deebo's Int would be the top play for most any other team. But it didn't win the game as there was another half to play. The Steelers dynasty started with the Immaculate Reception and the first glimmer of hope in 40 years. That's why it's the top play.
@waltblackadar4690 Superbowl > any other game I'm aware of my history thanks, and history shows that Miami won the Superbowl that season. Maybe if the Steelers had gone on to win the Superbowl after the Immaculate Reception I'd have a different opinion. But they didn't, so it's just an incredible play to win a play off match.
@@drgreggles8658 And history shows that Holmes caught the winning TD pass. So Harrison's TD is just an incredible play in the first half of a Super Bowl and wasn't the deciding factor.
@@waltblackadar4690 Holmes' touchdown was worth as many points as Harrison's in a 4 point game, but Harrison's TD was with the Cards on the Steelers goal line and should have been guaranteed points for them. Therefore the potential points swing from Harrison's TD was greater. Decent argument though, so I'll accept that Holmes TD was a better play than Franco's too.
Saints fan here. Either Tracy Porter or Steve Gleason has the greatest play in our history. Porter because we win the Super Bowl, Gleason because of the blocked punt in our first home game after Hurricane Katrina. Really close between the two.
Thinking any real Saints fan will tell you the Super Bowl interception was the 2nd greatest play. The single greatest play in Saints history is Steve Gleason’s blocked punt against the falcons in the first game back in the superdome after hurricane Katrina. That play literally saved the city of New Orleans.
Every Jags fan is gonna tell you the best play in Jaguars history is either the David Garrard scramble for a first down in the 2007 AFC Wildcard round, or the 50-yard walkoff Hail Mary Funnily enough a large majority of the plays you'd classify as an all-timer for the Jags involves David Garrard.
Agreed for example my chiefs best play wasn't a superbowl winning pass. It was Dante Hall returning a kick against the Broncos that was just absolutely insane. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-co1jpglyrWw.html
Agree. Deion's Interception against Warren Moon and the Oilers was better than that INT against Brady. Consider the fact that Moon was offensive player of the year that year and had crazy statistics including a great TD-INT ratio. And Deion took it to the house and high stepped half way there. Made it look so easy.
I mean I'd argue the pick six in that game was a bigger play than the Marcus Allen run. By the time Allen made that run the game was in the bag for the Raiders and that score was just icing on the cake or the cherry on top.
The Seahawk's best play is "The Tip" over "Beastequake." Don't get me wrong, that play was awesome, but the tip led to the Seahawk's first Super Bowl win.
Oh had to find and watch video on what "The Tip" was, now I remember. Funny how some plays, in NFL and College, just have names or phrases, and you know the play. Can we call Pats Malcolm Butler's interception at goal line, vs Seattle in SB, "The Pick"? Plays such as "The Pass", "Fumble Rooskie", "The Play", "Butt Fumble", "Miracle in Miami", (what was Steelers deflection to Franco Harris called?), etc. Probably 6 or so in NFL that could be called "The Catch".
Any play that doesn't involve Dan Marino can't be the play of all time for the Dolphins. Any play from the Super Bowl against NE can't be the best Falcons play of all time.
I get that it's very fitting to make the Bears one a defensive touchdown from the 85 team, but honestly I'd put Hester's return at the end of the Cardinals Monday night game on here
The Steelers couldve been the immaculate reception or santonio holmes toe tap or james Harrison super bowl run Seahawks also could’ve been percy harvin kickoff return Saints steve glason punt block
