You missed one big one, in the first Avengers Nick Fury tells Tony that his father "believed in that idea" talking about the Avengers Initiative. Howard Stark died 16 DECEMBER 1991, how the hell he knew about the Avengers Initiative that Fury idealizes 4 years after his death? Or we must assume that Fury is a heartless asshole that play with peoples emotions or this is bullshit created by a fanfic writer trying to make her character more awesome. Seeing I like the idea that Howard Stark and Fury where friends before he died and that Fury manipulates people but never about important personal things, using them as pawns. This scene doesn't exist in the MCU cannon for me, in fact this entire movie doesn't. P. S. The original Ant-Man and Wasp also worked and die for SHIELD years before Carol Danvers showed up, so bullshit they inspired the Initiative on her, bullshit.

You missed the fact that Robert Redford (Alexander Pierce) said he lost his eye saving him. Huge plot hole.

Movie was pretty much a trash can grab at national women's day. Shame on you MCU. Scarlett Witch and Black Widow are way better

The best way they could have ended this movie would have been instead of Talos being shot by Yon Rog, they have Fury get shot at and the blast from the gun graze his face thus destroying his eye. And once back on earth have Fury become disenchanted with Carol, have them get in a fight and show him going from plucky fun agent to the hardass director that we all know. And in Carols last act before she takes off into space, have her give Fury the pager. End credit scene have Fury in his office like you do, but instead have him examining the pager and saying to himself almost trying to convince himself that this is a one and only one time thing, that this will never happen again and he's gonna make sure of it. That's how the initiative gets started, and shows why he waited till now to reach for Carol. The Avengers broke up, Captain America is a fugitive, Tony Stark got pulled off into space, and now people are being raptured out of nowhere. But that's just my thoughts

Being a strong and independent woman doesn't translate to a girl that puts down men or does something juvenile or disadvantageous for others. Instead, they should be girls that are actively helping people or stand up for what is right with their own morals and standards to follow and the means to exact them with their own capabilities. Basically a good character that just happens to be female.

The fight scene set to _I'm Just A Girl_ by No Doubt made me physically cringe in the theatre. I remember thinking later, "If we were going to do silly and bad 90s music, _Tubthumping_ by Chumbawumba would have been a little more on-message for this movie." That said, you raise an interesting point: the real gripe I had was not the fight set to the song, it was the type of fight. Had it been action-comedy a la _Guardians Of The Galaxy_ , it might have been a delightful, fun, and lighthearted scene. And we know MCU movies know the difference between tense, uncomfortable Fight-scene-as-Drama, versus exciting-but-also-silly Fight-scene-as-Comedy. We see one of each in _Civil War_ . .

Your number 2 plot hole is my biggest gripe. That, along with Captain Marvel not being known by at least Thor, Nebula, Thanos, GOTG. And, If she was so powerful, Nick pretty much allowed a lot of people to die during the first Avengers because he never thought to call her? This is what happens when you try to shoehorn a new character, and then try to make the already existing material fit around her so she is the focal point. Something is going to get screwed up.

S.H.I.E.L.D. in the MCU was founded by Peggy Carter and Howard Stark after WWII. Coulson was just being cagey about who he worked for in Iron Man 1.

Let us not forget that Loki also had the tesseract, if Captain Woodenface just being next to an explosion of an engine that was powered by the tesseract made her OP, what about Loki in the first Avengers? If it made a mortal human a super saiyan what would the direct power of the tesseract do to a demi god?

SHIELD has been called SHIELD since its inception in the 40s. As is shown in Agent Carter one shot and Captin America Winter Soldier. Also in a flashback episode of Agents of SHIELD it is shown Coulson is one of the only agents that uses its full title and other agents give him shit for it. It is a retcon I know but one that clears up that particular issue.

I am convinced the writers didn't watch any of the prior MCU movies. Only that could explain this many plotholes in one movie.

Another possible plot hole: I believe I remember Walter Lawson being mentioned on Agents of SHIELD when Colson was trying to find out about Project TAHITI where he was brought back from the dead using Blue Kree blood.

time line captain America --> captain marvel --> Thor --> the avengers in captain America, and in captain marvel the tesseract is on earth in Thor, it is in Asgard in the first avengers movie, Loki went down to earth to retrieve the tesseract and bring it back to Asgard anything I'm missing?

Not to mention "that lightspeed engine is super important! Let's WARP right to the planet it's on and retrieve it." 🙄

Vision had a stone in his HEAD while fighting Thanos and basically did nothing and couldn't hope to. The true reality is infinity stone residue mixed with wahman powers is stronger than pure infinity stone.

The lightspeed McGuffin is the biggest overlooked plothole. Everyone wants this lightspeed drive, but to even get to Earth from their respective planets they already have faster-than-light drives... P.S. 1990s was the age of CDs wiping out vinyl and cassettes. CDs were already a thing in the late 80s. A song on vinyl should have been from the 80s or earlier.

So, then according to what he said in The Winter Soldier, the last person that Nick Fury trusted was a cat? Alrighty then! Also, Monica was Captain Marvel before Carol in the comics. They made her the "black kid with an absentee father" stereotype. That change was disrespectful as hell.

My overall issue with the film.....she is the most powerful character in the mcu and the catalyst for everything avengers....but no one heard or mentions her??? Oh ok fasttrack to endgame!!

1:32 Incorrect. Howard Stark referred to SHIELD by name in the Agent Carter One-Shot, so it has been SHIELD since before it was actually founded.

The real question is this, if Thanos has been going around enslaving planets and killing off half of their population and has been doing this for at lear as long as Gamora has been alive so 2 dozen years maybe, how have the Kree not heard about him therefor how has Captain Marvel not known about him and gone after him already? And if she did then one of the 2 should not be alive right now.

Ronan is in the movie for 2 reasons: 1) This movie leaches off of the MCU's familiarity factor in general - having Ronan there is simply so that people who like Ronan will get interested to see this movie. Like having Goldblum in Jurassic World 2 for like, 1 minute, but showing him in the trailers and promos all the time. Marketing lies, nothing more. 2) Ronan was an absolute BADASS in the original. He took out Drax like he was nothing. Captain Marvel upstaging him and making him insignificant with zero effort supports the message that she is just SO MUCH BETTER THAN EVERYONE.

Just as you mentioned that she didn't earn the right to name the franchise, to be the first Avengers, reminded me another critique I heard, just the same - she didn't earn it. She did not earn anything, didn't have to fight for everything, grow in character, overcome her own flaws/mistakes etc. Everything was kinda just handed to her.

I always took the whole "Working on a name bit" from Coulson in Iron Man as him being coy with Stark and Pepper Potts while also trying to sound important. Fairly certain they already had the name SHIELD.

1)How did Carol Danvers not age a day from 1995 to 2018/19 post snap. I'm no math wizard but that's more than 20 years. The actress is 29, let's say the character is the same in the movie... she'd be pushing 50 if not over. She'd not a day. 2) Why hasn't anyone brought up the fact that a spacefareing race is trying to invent fast than light travel. I know that in Gaurdians 2 (thor 3?) they explain that they us jump gates, and it takes a few weeks to get from one end of the universe to the other. Pretty sure that counts as FTL. 3) Not a plothole, more of a grip. Is this movie trying to be completely meta by making a crappy boring plot of a 90's hero film? Cause that's what it felt like, Spawn, The Phantom, The Shadow... Steel. 4) Can we also talk about the fact that this travesty of a movie took 5 freaking people to write? 2 I can understand, but 5?! At that point you fire the 5, hire a new writer, hand him/her a stack of the best of Captain Marvel stories (all 10 issues or so [come on Iornman was b list a best before the first movie, it was a safe bet to make a movie with a less liked character and Ms Captain Marvel Carol Danvers has always been c list. Doctor Strange levels of popular.] You tell this new writer nothing of the old script. If they can't make something better than what 5 people scrapped out than you have a base character that maybe shouldn't be shoehorned into the MCU.... Right?

Let's just hope that next time, the MCU embraces a trend that's common in comics. The RETCON!

Hey there, Just double checked and Mallrats was filmed between March and April of ‘95. So, not a plot hole.

Ok, so when Red Skull picked up the tesseract in Cap 1, he started burning up and got sucked away, then it fell on the floor and literally melted its way through and fell into the ocean. So, how did Carol just casually pick it up no problem( you could argue that its because she got her powers from it) and then this random alien cat thing ate it. What? And also it was just casually chilling in a lunch box? Red skull had to build these special containers to hold it but it could be fine in a lunch box? So this lunch box is more durable than the ship floor? Infinity stones can only be held by people with great power. Quill, who was the son of a celestial, almost got burnt up. Loki held it but he's a god. Maybe Carol has the whole powerful enough thing, but the cat does too? Is it can't be a worthy thing because Loki and Thanos held it just fine. It just startled me in the theater, seeing her causally pick it up and have it chilling in a lunch box.

The only hole there is the one this movie is burying the mcu in.

ALSO, ANOTHER ONE: This is (i assume) implictly told, but it should actually be a dialogue that took place ON SCREEN for fuck's sake: Carol tells Fury that she was taken by the Kree half dead and was revived by them pumping Kree blood in her veins. So supposedly, that is the origin of Project Tahiti that Fury later initialized to revive Coulson.

I really hated that they retrofitted a plane for spaceflight in like a few hours and also have it artificial gravity. That was just lazy, poor quality writing.

This movie did two things for me: 1. It introduced me to a somewhat weird, boring and unlikable main character 2. It made Nick Fury's character into a absolute joke I honestly regret watching that garbage..

Something interesting that can happen is that a skull assassinates Talos after their species makes a recovery, or rallies other Lost skrulls to enact revenge on the Tree. If it was Talos's child that's angry and doesn't let go of the past, that could pose for an interesting Narrative. Have the child see captain Marvel, have the whole "what you do is no better than what they did to you" conversation, but the response is "it's too late" and that the war becomes the key that can't go unturned

While I haven't seen it, the main plot hole is that Fury apparently *always* had this ace in the hole, and never used it when the earth was threatened twice before. If I were Stark, Rogers, Banner, et al, I'd be SUPER pissed..

Did that girl remember auntie carol from photos because her being gone 6 years and they act like its been a week. Not wow youve grown kid. Its meant to be 1995? They could at least make blockbuster lit up maybe have a lady vacuuming at night and have her crash in. all that nostalgia was lost in the dark shop. And the songs were mostly 1995 era but there was other music around. and hole in the end credits is a 1998 song. It could have been like ready player one with so much nostalgia. I found the whole save a refugee family a bit political cringe. Smashing pumpkins poster put it at late 1995.

SHIELD is a plothole in Iron man, not in Captain Marvel. Shield was around long before the 90s ... just the amount of infrastructure than have in place during the ironman movies is proof of that.

In the comics she gets her powers from Mar-Vel when he dies. They were very clear about this movie being agenda driven. So the only reason the tesseract was in the movie was to have a different way for her to get her powers since there is no way they would allow her to receive them from a man.

She had close to no personality in the movie. And for some reason i went home pissed off after watching it.
