The fact that he managed to hold his own in a midfield that had the likes of Gerrard, Mascherano, and Alonso says a lot about what a fantastic player he is. One of my absolute favourite LFC players from that team/era.

Your a kid so I understand that you don’t even know your history but let me educate you for a minute, to qualify for the European cup you had to have won your domestic league, in the 5 years of the ban, Liverpool won 3 titles Everton won 2 so you never would have even qualified. There was a competition for the first year of the ban called the football league super cup which United were in. In it they lost to Everton and Norwich, didn’t even get out of their group and Liverpool ended up winning it by beating Everton 7-2 over a two legged final.

Imho, Suarez still better all around since he also made assists and playmaking. But understandable that the team while Suarez there was not as complete as this 08/09 team so Suarez need to do almost everything. But inside the box, this Torres is scary! He can score almost any goal even in tight space

Since 06/07 Benitez get crappy forwards/strikers mainly. Hell Voronin, Ngog, Babel, Bellamy, elderly Fowler. Crouch and Morientes werent exceptional either. He didnt want Owen back and quickly sold Keane.

Didn't know that he was a board sining. Remember that a plan was to have Robbie and Barry at a left side. But it was a shame that he was sold so quickly. He had a shaky start, but he catch a momentum with a few goals, and then he sand back to Spurs. I belive that we would won the league that year if he stayed. Best Liverpool premier league team of the decade.

This was undoubtedly Gerrards best season in his whole career

Liverpool were unlucky to finish that season without a trophy. You lot did the league double over Chelsea and Manchester United, also beat Real Madrid 5-0 on aggregate in the champions league

He was finding his form near the end of the year, but once again another blunder from benitez. Without keane, we only have torres and kuyt as first team striker (there is n'gog and el-shar, but they are youngster at the time)

He was awful the 18 months before we sold him. Suarez was a level ahead
