I remember When I found American Girl in the early 2000s that Molly's Christmas stocking had paints and afew other Toys for molly I don't remember a snow globe at all. Then I noticed with Molly's glasses they have something in the back holding them on rather then regular molly glasses later on.
@@idreamofjonny wow I didn't know that with the orginal Molly's 1986 and 1987 dolls glasses didn't have the lenses and was held by elastic. When did American Girl change mollys glasses to how they are now?
funny, i think of barrel clasps as on the easier end of the spectrum for jewelry.. . i guess something to keep in mind would be that doll items are typically designed for 6yo size hands/fingers, so i've noticed adults sometimes struggle more than a child might with the small clasps/snaps/buttons/etc (not just AGs, but just dolls in general)..
Samantha Christmas dress had changed color from red to cranberry cause in my childhood catalogs it was said cranberry Christmas dress in the description in the catalog. My time line is 2003 and up until Samantha retired in 2008.

I love to hear that! Pleasant Company is soooo fun to collect. I'm eventually going to start getting some of the newer stuff I think, but vintage PC has me so busy heh.
“They’re free balling” I’m dying that’s hilarious as an ag collector I can confirm that about only half of my dolls have panties. My biased favorites especially have panties (Nellie and Samantha always do).

She’s been on eBay since last year. Way overpriced because she doesn’t even have shoes! The complete mint set with box, snow globe, and packaging might be worth close to $1500. But a nurse without shoes maybe $500-ish?
Hi. Fellow adult collector. I have a NRFB 1st edition Addy from the 1st 2 years of production. I also have most of Addy and Felicity's original collection, other than some odds and ends. When I move, I'm hoping to have a dedicated space to display my collection as well.
That's so awesome! It really does help you appreciate your collection more if you can display them because you don't have to go out of your way as much to see them. I would definitely recommend doing it if you can!
Oh wow, your Molly's eyes are beautiful - I've never seen the grey look SO light. I feel like the exact shade of grey is the most "unintentionally variable" AG thing (or maybe Kirsten's shade of blue - that also varies wildly).
I would really like to know some your sources of information, so I can better educate myself. How joyful seeing all your beautiful dolls dressed in their Holiday dresses! I always guessed that Felicity's holiday dress is not red and green because her era was earlier than Victorian.( when possibly those colors started being associated with Christmas) Same with the Regency girls Caroline and Josefina. Do you still have your catalogs from childhood? You must have studied them for hours! Thanks again for sharing and Happy Holidays! Oops, almost forgot-- helpful tip for that pesky velcro: Get yourself an extra strip to put over the snaggy side. (Do this when you lay the dress out and open it up-just before putting it on the doll) I keep an extra strip handy for dressing my dolls. No more snagging!🙂
Aw, thanks Paulette! I’ve learned some things from a Facebook group called The Vintage Corner, but a lot of it I’ve learned just from buying and selling so much and looking at receipts. Good point about the blue dress on Felicity! I should probably brush up on my history. I no longer have my original catalogs, but I have bought a few recently that are from the same years. Ahhh I love the Christmas collections! There's something in particular about the Christmas and the night time collections that's just the Most nostalgic. I would love to see a video on what to look for for a first edition Addy. Also, question for a potential Q&A video: is there a particular item/collection that just screams nostalgia for you? Like for me it's Kirsten's night time collection. I have no idea why that one specifically but I just remember staring at it in the catalog all the time.

I collect Kirsten and my dream doll would be a turquoise eyes with big teeth’87. I see them come up for sale, but I’m too afraid to buy one because the eye color is so hard to judge in a photo. I’m always afraid the seller might use a filter or something. Any suggestions?

Your videos touch me because 1) I collect American Girl and 2) my son came to me after he was grown a shared that he had always wanted a Kirsten. If I had known, he would have gotten one. I have a West German one set aside for him if he ever asks.
I didn’t know about the ornament thing - so interesting!! I’ve never been a huge fan of Samantha’s Christmas dress, but the version with the heart lace might change my mind! In your opinion , what is a fair price for that version in good condition? Have a great holiday season!! ☺️
I loooooove Samantha's Christmas dress. I definitely recommend the heart lace! There was one made in 1990 that you can get for $30-50 if you keep an eye out. The 1986 version (shown in the video) is a lot harder to come by, so a fair market price would probably be $75-ish depending on condition. If you're able to find one with the original box and satin ribbon, they go for way more. I paid about $200 for my mint in box 1986 one. If you're not a stickler for having first year, I'd definitely recommend the 1990 one because it is soooo similar. Happy Holidays! :)
Seeing the original dolls in the most modern promotional poses/materials would also be interesting. (Ex. For the new Molly re release, or when they had all the girls in the one photo last or… two years ago lol)
Great video. Enjoyed very much. You never know when going to a flea market and discovering a box full of bits and bobs and finding one of these treasured items! Oh... in the future could you do a video on Molly's glasses, I do not have a Molly (yet), of course I want a PC doll but sometimes on ebay I see a doll and the glasses look all wrong (I think). A viewer down below mentioned using the word standard instead of common is a good idea.
Instead of saying common, you could say standard if you wanted to. Also I really loved your video. You have so much knowledge of this, it's great! Now I know how people feel when I infodump my hyperfixation.

The purple trim is actually just blue trim that's faded overtime. It usually happens on earlier versions, I think. It was likely an unstable dye batch. I hope that helps!

Yep! The most notable are Molly and Samantha who have a very distinct 1st edition of their trunks. I'm going to do videos on them! I'll add your question to the list, but to give you a head start - definitely check Mercari, Etsy, and Facebook Marketplace. Also local thrift shops!
how do you know all of this information about the different variations of everything? and how do u remember all of it? lol. i don’t know if they’re documented on some kind of website (i haven’t seen it so idk) but u seem to know every single detail lmao
