Thank you for the hard work. I can only imagine the time it took to complete. I may disagree with some winners/nominees (80's, 90's, 00's were my time, and it was GOLDEN baby!), I respect the list.
So in 1982 Aileen Quinn, aged 12, is given the Razzie for Annie. In 2022 the Razzies themselves are given the award for the sin of nominating the 14y/o in Firestarter. God forbid that in 2022 you hurt anyone's feelings of course. So they might as well scrap the Razzies along with the Oscars.
My only quibble is with Heather Donahue. Keep in mind that at the time a lot of people actually believed those were real students who got lost in the woods. She had skills.
Some of these are so wrong! "Mommy Dearest" is a completely iconic performance! As was Heather Donahue in "The Blair Witch Project," who squeezed every little bit of her soul into that role.
Mommy Dearest was an over the top performance by Faye Dunaway. Even the real life daughter thought it was trash. And she was the one that wrote the book it's based off. Faye also tanked in SuperGirl. She's the worst villain in DC movie yo. Totally laughable. IMO she's not that bad of an actress tho. I think she purposely tanked some roles just for the payday
like with other razzies lists, some performances that really were that bad, some that were actually good, some of these roles are supposed to be hammy, and some that were mostly just snarky sour grapes
Children should not be eligible for this award. How old was Brooke Shields when she did Blue Lagoon? 16? She should have been, uhm, shielded from that.
An addendum to my prior comment: Special award for generational crappiness goes to Melanie Griffith and her daughter Dakota Johnson. They proved that in some select cases, bad acting can indeed be passed from one generation to another.
Considering she was a model with little training, Tippi did well in The Birds and Marnie. But Melanie could be good too, in the right role with the right director (Something Wild, Working Girl). She could also be spectacularly bad.
@@ernestcruz6316Melanie Griffith can't really act. Dakota Johnson is a bit better. Tippi was a lot better and prettier than both of her kin lol. Alfred Hitchcock wanted to do intimate things with her.
I'd never heard of most of the movies on this list which likely means they were deserving of the Golden Raspberry Award. I was very surprised to see The Blair Witch Project on this list. It was a box office smash in 1999.
1999.... I went to the cinema to see this piece of trash. It was a curiousity thing mixed with great marketing and "Cheapie Tuesday". The beginning of the found footage era, some were good (Paranormal Activity, VHS) most were trash. This was also the beginning of the "Cash Grab" era of copy cat movies without being too subtle about it.
Ok, so no one gives a single f**k when Jake Lloyd was nominated at the age of 10, but that Firestarter girl's nomination is somehow inappropriate? Yeah, not double standarts at all.
@@spoiler-man6801 No people have rightfully realised what a shitty thing it was to treat him the way they did and the detrimental effect it had on him. What happened can't be changed but thankfully now people are advocating to protect children and young people more. Certainly young people are better treated than Britany Spears was too. She didn't deserve what happened and society sees that better than they did back then.
My goodness Madonna. You can actually see her brain ticking as she thinks about her next line. She has been okay/good in a few movies - she just played herself in Desperately Seeking Susan at the wise advice of Susan Seidelman with good natural results. Her role in A league of their own was small but she looked like she was having fun. Dangerous Game/Snake Eyes she was probably her most effective performance no doubt to the tough and bullying tactics used by Abel Ferrara and some co-stars (Harvey Keitel calls her a 'commercial piece of s*** in one scene) - she denounced the film but shouldn't have - she has genuinely powerful scenes in it. Evita is a string of music videos which she's good at. She is so controlling and that stands in her way all the time. You get the feeling she is always 'on'
@@mrtophat2757 gotcha. I always hear people mentioning Razzie awards in regards to her performance in the shining just so I just assumed she won one. Then I heard it was rescinded so i assumed they switched the win over to Brooke shields. Thanks for clarifying
Demi Moore's performance in "GI Jane" really didn't deserve that much hate. She gave everything she had for this movie and her performance is a ball of fire, very moving.
Pia Zadora, Bo Derek and Tanya Roberts should receive lifetime achievement awards from the Razzies, for their dedication to mediocrity above and beyond the call.
@@KernelHughes i’ve seen these movies where Madge “won” and these performances are very VERY BAD! (especially in Swept Away, considering that it was directed by her then husband Guy Ritchie). The one role that I disagree with the Razzies is Nikki in Who’s That Girl. I thought she was pretty decent in that
4:06 as an addendum, Sean Young played twins in A Kiss Before Dying. She won Worst Actress for playing Ellen, while this clip is of the other twin Dorothy, for which Young also won Worst Supporting Actress. 8:39 also, Britney Spears’ name is spelled wrong 😖
Demo Moore was not that bad in G.I. Jane and it’s complete horseshit Heather Donahue got the “ award” for Blair Witch Project. Everything else here is pretty much spot on.
@@MuhammadAhmad-oj6mfapparently, Joan grew very poor and her mother would work at a dry cleaning place. The wire hangers would remind Joan about her horrible past.
@@owie4070 yes it was a dream scene eh eh i recommend you the one from the 70's is very good, the father of the male lead in the Madonna 's one, was in that movie ..
We saw Halle Berry filming cat woman while in LA. She was in costume & I couldn’t see her face so idk if it was really her or part of “the tour”…. Faye Dunaway didn’t deserve the hate she did Josh great!!!
I guess because the worst thing you can do is be a man taking a role which could have been played by a woman, and think that it being a man dressed a woman alone makes it funny. It's not like either are particularly known as drag artists (at least not Sandler, I don't know the other guy)
Kristen Stewart totally deserves it for the Twilight crap, but actually in Snow White she's not too bad and the ladies of Sex and the City 2 don't deserve it either, they just did the same thing they have done in their iconic show for years.
True story. An ex girlfriend forced me to watch the first Twilight, it was jam packed and utterly dumb, but I correctly predicted that Kristen Stewart would be a big star. She's brunette, pretty but not too much that's she's gonna cause jealousy with other women, she seems geeky and she has strange mannerisms.
I think by the time of SatC 2, it was felt that the whole thing had been dragged out too long. On that note, I think the clip is actually from the first one which isn't half as bad. The sequel is set in the Middle East. Snow White I didn't think was terrible either, though not one I'd watch again.
The last few years really do seem to be what on earth is this, much like 2010s & 2020s music. Whoever was picking in the late 90s & early 2000s just seemed to have it in for pop stars regardless.
Has more to do with Hollywood thinking women only serve one purpose and they hardly need to write a particularly good character as long as the actress is hot. Some of these weren't bad performances, just poorly written.
Halle Berry has won Worst Actress and Best Actress. Catwoman and Monster's Ball respectively. The latter was garbage so I'm guessing Harvey Weinstein offered Halle some kind of "Deal" yo
Faye Dunaway got the short end as she's probably the best actress on this list. I think the script held her back a bit as it's basically a biopic of Joan Crawford and her daughter. Crawford, who was a gay actress from a million years ago allegedly bullied and abused the daughter. It's a corny movie with no real proof of anything true other than that Joan liked women. Faye Dunaway overacted the part so much that she came across as an animated Disney witch bullying the children.
The prettiest actress ever IMO that can't really act, but is so gorgeous it doesn't matter is Tanya Roberts. Even in that 70's Show when she's past her prime I would still do her. Sheena is a cult classic.
