thank you bro! that means so much more than you realize because i spent a lot of time trying to organize all of my ideas for this! you’re a real one and im glad you enjoyed the video💯💯💯
I’ve watched football for 30 years and feel like I just learned more in 20 minutes about football than I had from watching 30 years of games. It amazes me how a QB can remember all the different routes and how to read a defense in less than 3 or 4 seconds. Subscribed!
Not the most athletic QB in my flag football league, but I know I can beat these guys if I'm smarter than them and you breaking these concepts down is giving me all sorts of ideas! God bless you, Bro! I'm rooting for you and Wyoming!
Thanks for the rapid fire delivery while hitting all the fundamental points of offense! Understanding the theory behind basic routes will definitely help me appreciate the complexity of football. Keep doing your thing, because you're a great teacher!
By far the best concept explanation I’ve seen. Straight to the point, showing us only the players relevant to the concept and real-world examples mixed in. Your presenting energy is amazing as well-seriously phenomenal work, man. Thanks for making this!
I’m a casual football fan at best, and I know basically nothing about the nuances of schemes. This video explains them so well that even a scrub like me can get it
Starting tackle football next year for the first time, I’ve been trying to learn the coverages of defense and concepts of offense even if I might or might not be a qb next year. This video helped me so much🔥
for real bro😂like corners either have to play man and cover the whole field or get put in positions where they have to choose the lesser of two evils with route concepts hitting their zone at different levels. shoutout to all my dbs😂😂😂
Bro... this video is fantastic!! I'm sending this to my son right now since he's in his first year of playing receiver for his school. Really outstanding work! Should be mandatory viewing for all the young guys out there wanting to be the next Rice or Moss
Glad you enjoyed it my man! Youre a real one for that. It took me a long time to put everything together so im glad you could get some value out of it!
Hi Caleb, great video! Im from the UK and just really starting to get into the intricacies of football, this video has been a HUGE help, thanks so much!
Great video, I love that your coverage style is geared towards people with a working knowledge of the basics and is quick and to the point. My advice to take your content to the next level is to refine your video and audio editing skills: it'll make your videos even easier to watch and understand, as well as something your audience *wants to* rewatch and suggest to others. It's already perfectly serviceable, but your video could benefit from some more even lighting, and your audio from a bit of soundproofing. Keep it up, I hope your channel grows this NFL season!
Thanks for watching Jeffrey! Im glad that I could help to deliver some value for sure! Im 100% going to work on my editing in the future and make sure that I can put out higher quality stuff so that it's easier to digest. Thanks for the heads up!
Not gonna lie I'm glad i found this video. Great explaining each concept. Appreciated much. Must have found this from playing madden lol. Just to try to give you ideas you should take videos from actually games and break down what the offensive coordinator was trying to do with the route combos maybe and i wish there was like a thing with all that route combos on it lop
thanks my guy! it means a lot to me that you liked the video, i spent a lot of time working on it. i really like that idea about breaking down offensive coordinators. you can bet that you will see something of that nature in the near future! preciate you dev!!
@@TheCalebMerritt I think seeing the knowledge you have with the routes definitely helps. The moving receivers around and keeping the same concept was interesting to. Whether it's Madden and I even play flag football this helps a lot. But yeah breaking down games would be perfect. Also you might be able to go over other concepts like I think there's a triangle concept and probably others I guess like that
@@TheCalebMerrittalso route progression. I know you went over it but like is it always a left to right or right to left? Is it check flats or work up. I just wonder
Hey man, never saw your content before. Been watching so much football theory stuff since ea cfb 25 released. You killed this... seriously! I have yet to see ANYONE cover this much material, this well, and you backed it up with tape. And then, to get into the more theoretical play design and point out it's about stressing certain points of the defense regardless of how you get there... top notch. Liked, subscribed, wish you the best of luck, and looking forward to more content!!
you’re too kind bro! thanks for all of the support, it means so much more than you realize! i just finished recording my next video so hopefully i can get it edited in the next couple of days! you’re a real one!
awesome! i’m glad that i could help to breakdown some football for you guys! let me know if there is anything specific that you would want a video about in the future!
What a fantastic breakdown, now I just need the opposite of this: an unfriendly D1 corner in a hood with a chalkboard explaining how to kill every route that ends the video saying "Hail Satan"
When I was a kid and I was playing tag football out in the yard or on one of the practice fields at school with friends, I basically invented a double move route that no one ever heard of or saw before. Got open every time I decided to use it. Then like 10 years later I saw someone else had come up with it and they were using it in football everywhere. And just the double move in general started getting used all over the place and in different ways not long after that. I think I missed my calling as an offensive coordinator or something. lol. I could have been ahead of the curve. Ha ha.
Your videos are SO HELPFUL for a new coach. You’re brilliant at this and make it so simple. Can you do a video on applying strategies to 5 v 5 flag football please? ✝️
thanks for the support! i’m glad you were able to learn a couple of things! to be honest i’ve never played 5v5 football or studied anything like it. i imagine you would want to play with 2 corners, 2 safeties and a linebacker but after that i have no clue😂
Depends on whether the outside corner is playing man or zone. But in the video, Caleb talks about how to use Verts to beat Cover-2. Levels is also good, EXCEPT if the defense is running Tampa-2 where the MLB will be covering the F.
Smash and Texas are my 2 favorite concepts to beat Cover 2. Especially Texas since it attacks the middle linebacker Mid Read (who is usually the user in Madden & CFB25)
what’s good my boy! glad you liked the video, you’re a real one for all of the support! When it comes to cover 2, you gotta ask yourself, where the weak spots are in the coverage? So if it’s 2 deep safeties, the weak spots are gonna be right in between them (in the middle of the field), and on the sideline above the hard corner (a lot of teams call this the “holeshot” area of the field.) So now that we know where the defense is weak, we have to run our routes in such a way that targets these holes as much as possible. we can scheme multiple routes into these weak-spots to force the defense to choose who they are going to guard. For example, on our Verts concept, our goal should be to get a receiver down the middle of the field and another wr to the holeshot area so the deep defenders have to stretch as far as possible in order to guard both. You could also run the Over concept. One of the deep half defenders has to go with the post route and then the over should be able to replace into the spot where they both left. But for the most part, cover 2 beaters are gonna happen deeper down the field because there are just so many zones underneath that make it hard to throw. I’m already planning another video about how to beat every coverage in football, but i hope that this can help a little bit until then! thanks again for all the love bro, you have no clue how much it means to me that you actually are getting value from my videos!
Great video! If a NFL team picks a QB with a top 10 pick, should they make the rookie fit to their scheme, or build the offense around the rookie’s strengths?
very good video and you're a great explainer, even my dumbass understood everything exactly just fyi your voice is only going to left side, check what track your editing software puts the audio on
w mans bro thanks for watching! preciate the heads up on the mic, ur a real one for letting me know! i wouldn’t have figured that out on my own so your clutch!
In Madden my receivers never do the option route, they will have 2-3 options and just sit at the curl like bro you should’ve crossed into the 20 yards open in the middle of the field
This video fucking rocks, man. I am trying to learn ball and get into draft based content, so I NEEDED this. Theoretically, could you call Scissors and have a HB or TE wheel route coming up between where they'd meet in their Post/Corner cross and have even more overload in that area?
preciate the support bro! i spent a lot of time trying to plan everything out for this video so im glad you could get some value from it! i really like how you are thinking with that wheel route into the same area of the scissors concept. especially vs man coverage, you’re probably gonna end up with a linebacker having to run all the way with the running back up the field. but versus zones what might be even more powerful than the wheel is a little RB arrow route to the flat. this is because you can use a high low read on the CB flat defender in cover 2, and you have an outlet if the defense wants to bring pressure and the QB has to get rid of the ball quickly. This is my favorite part about the sport of football (reading coverages, scheming routes, etc.) so i’m glad that i have met my people!! thanks again for watching bro, you have no clue how much that means to me!
it definitely 100% does correlate to flag football! if anything it’s better than normal football because you don’t have to worry about run plays! lmk how the season goes!
For some reason... Idk why. But your sound in this video is only coming through my left ear of my headphones. At least for most of the video. I checked and it's not my headphones, since everything is sounding normal in other videos. Just letting you know. God Bless.
