Small note, yes I am aware of the inkpedia brand sorting, but this was figured out late into the video development to change anything. The part at 0:43 of the intro was added much later on to help with that. I have learned a lot about brands today and didn't realize how much more complicated this was. If I do another version of the video one day I will keep this in mind, but I figured it was ok since the topic was more chill anyway this time around. All I would note is that the original weapons for many of them were in fact made by the same brand. Logically it doesn’t make much sense that the custom dualie squelcher name refers to both of them, since they’re made by the same brand. what’s even more shocking is that this means that sheldon has never invented ANY weapons. even the aerospray and dynamo roller were made by his grandfather. This means that sheldon is merely a vendor and the developers have no real reason to have kept him as the vendor for three games in a row since he’s not significant outside of the spkatoon 2 story
Oh, i think the sticker is more for inkling on octoling to remember wich one is the vannila and wich one is the custom, due to the fact that the custom brand is just making the same weapon with hight quality component. (Sheldon specified it)
@@DittoMewmew Yes, but it's still the Splat company itself that's making the weapons, they're just selling licensing deals to let some clothing brands get some advertisement on their weapons. In universe, it's reasonable to assume that most of the weapon design is still done in-house by Splat itself.
Fun fact: the Custom Jr isn’t actually Custom branded. It’s called the “Custom” Jr due to a probable mistranslation that was kept for translation consistency, and in Japanese it has a different prefix than the Custom brand’s suffix.
To piggyback off of what @JamUsagi typed, the original stickers on both variants of the Splattershot Jr. are based on those placed on the back of motor vehicles operated by a new driver (with a green, fresh leaf) and by an experienced driver (with an autumn-colored leaf). I usually call the Custom Splattershot Jr. the Maple Jr.

@@m4rcyonstation93 thank you! I really like ghost and pals a lot! As for custom, there are some changes in kit colors that are way too subtle to the point where they go unnoticed. For example: custom wellstring has the handle go from light blue -> black, custom blaster has its wires go from black -> white, custom hydra has a pipe go from orange (?) -> light blue, and custom range… probably has something that changes in it but not even I can notice. I don’t blame people for not noticing these changes though, because they’re such small parts of the models that aren’t seen enough to the point where it feels like they’re purposefully trying to make them not noticeable. I don’t think that they need to do too much for changes to second kits, I think changes like the rapids and most of nouveau’s changes are good changes without doing too much to the design, but I think the changes should at least be noticeable to make their second kits more distinct beyond the obvious stickers the past few games have had anyway.
@@glitchingeclipse9850 Not always to say some of the subtle changes look bad. I still will defend CDS till I die, the yellow matches the red really nicely so in a vacuum it looks great, so long as you ignore it's really similar to VDS.
@@sonicrunn3r895 I also don’t mind the yellow tips on the second kits, but I feel like they could’ve at least done a little more with the color changes than just that one part of the gun. I think custom’s weapons have a lot of potential for recolors on second kits, but I feel like they didn’t really follow through on them.
This video was made jointly between me and Cookie, and I don't think there's been a Chara video edited like this before (at least from me). Usually when editors share a video, we each take a section of the script and split the video somewhere, but here I thought a more homogenous style would benefit this video and our schedules resulted in us working on the video at different times. What ended up happening was I made the intro, outro, Riptide promo, and all of the transitions for the start and end of each section, while Cookie did all the visuals inside each section. I think it came out really well for this specific video!
@@dolbaeb3447 Surprisingly, it's actually not. The two companies are completely separate, and Sorella makes all their weapons themselves with no connection to Splat. It's even more confusing because Sorella *also* collabed with a clothing brand (Inkline), something that is usually only done by Splat. The "Splat" prefix is just a mistranslation, according to the wiki a more accurate name for the standard brella should be "Para Brella"
I’m gonna do it. Sorry, but I must. Every brand is responsible for both kits of each of its mains, New Squiffer is made by Dolphin, the Gold and mk weapons are both made by Ammo Knights, the Splattershot family, Splat Roller, Splat Charger, Splat Dualies, and Mini Splatling are produced by a brand simply called Splat (with all of their second kits being collabs), and Sorella produces all three of the Sorella brellas (with Sorella Tent being a collab with Inkline). The Splattershot and Order skins are presumably made by Cuttlegear and Tri-Stringer’s brand is strangely unknown. If I know one thing about this game, it’s weapon brand lore. Cool video, though!
I'll comment on that I was aware of the whole mains thing, however adding all the base kits would have made the video way too long so I chose to omit them (besides the skins). Brellas i've gotten pushback prior for labeling them all as 1 brand in the past which is why I looked for other sticker stuff to identify new ones. But today it seems like people are saying it is ok to make them all 1 brand so noted for future.
Recycled Brella is actually made by Sorella (their logo is in the spinny renders). Also the tri-stringer brand isn’t the only brand that doesn’t have an official name. “Dolphin” is just based on the logo. There’s also “Whale” (which makes autobomb and wave breaker) and “Shark fins” (which makes Fizzy bomb and tacticooler).
actually recycled brella was made by sorella, however it was probably made in collaboration with ammo knights as sorella seems to love doing collaborations based on the foil logo on splat brella's handle and tenta sorella brella being in a sponsorship with inkline
Is it canon that the vanilla kit is made by the brand too? Cuz it was my headcanon for so long that the vanilla kit is designed by the company that manages the whole turf war game stuff (presumably splat????? Is there actual lore on that), and the second kit was made by the actual brand that made the kit. (And splat does collabs with other brands cuz they already made the first kit)
The "Mk" skins are Cuttlegear, the brand that makes most of the story mode / octo-themed stuff. You can see the logo on both the sticker and on Recycled's canopy. It makes sense since the Bamboozler is Captain Cuttlefish's weapon of choice.
actually for custom, there is actually a very slight difference on Wellstring and Hydra besides only their sticker. On the Wellstring, the grip handle is blue instead of yellow. the same you can see on the hydra's hose to the gatling drum, which is also blue instead of the usual yellow. but i really doubt it changes much in the overall score.
As someone who is OBSESSED with splatoon brands this video physically hurts as it (and most people tbh) get a shit ton of stuff wrong or mixed up so i wanted to clear up some confusion! jr, shot, pro, nova, roller, swig, charger, mini, dualie and stringer are actually all part of the splat brand which makes collaborations with other non-weapon brands for their second kits. This also means that yes cjr is NOT A CUSTOM WEAPON it is simply a translation error as in japanese it has a different name that ends up being translated to custom. Tri-stringer is actually a weapon from the stringer brand aswell so the second ends up being a collaboration between 3 different brands! Squiffer is a dolphin branded weapon despite non sharing the same logo and naming scheme as the others Brellas are also a confusing one: they are ALL made by the sorella brand as it makes the brella canopies. regular brella is a collaboration between sorella and foil (logo on the handle), tent is a collaboration between sorella and inkline, undercover is just a sorella weapon and recycled is a collaboration between cuttlegear and sorella (logo on the funny twitter spinning image) Tetra and tent are made by non-weapon brands due to the fact that ttek makes shoes and inkline makes climbing gear which includes tents The ''gold'' weapons (aerospray, dynamo and naut) are actually from the ammo knights brand as they were designed by sheldon's grandfather Stamper is a nouveau weapon it was called neo due to a translation error (this is obvious but i see people getting this wrong still) Hero shot is a cuttlegear weapon (as all hero mode replicas are and have been) and the order weapons dont have a brand Also most specials and subs also have weapon brands for example: express isnt a new brand as it is the brand that made tenta missiles and inkjet! (it also made the vending machines in side order) sorry for yapping hopefully this helps. This info comes from the wiki and the funny twitter spinning images but also from simply looking at weapons!
I appreciate the clarification, I know hero shot is cuttlegear but any brand that had only 1 weapon didn't fit a category for me. If I ever do this vide in the far future I will work on the labels, but in this case I found it fine.
Pearl drone with a burgerking Crown is peak. I do hope that in future games you can customize your weapons, color scemes sticker and maybe some accessories. Realistically its not going to happen, but it would be cool and an option if custom kits become a thing.

I thought this video was going to breakdown the brand's logos and advertising for a second and got really excited lol. This was a fascinating video! Would love to see more videos like this. Since Chara has expertise on the weapons (for all 3 games btw) it was cool to see how the ranking showed us how the devs organized the weapons into certain categories and kits.
custom is not just a sticker, they also make the vanilla weapons chara. every weapon that has a custom version (barring junior because that isn't custom branded it's a different prefix in japanese) is a custom product itself. They make mostly longer range weapons with either slower fire rate and or low ink efficiency
ngl I love random videos like these, they may not be as educative as the indepth competitive side but really fun for casual while still have some bits of casual that is somewhat digestable for casuals. They double down as fun content, have some goofy idea videos in the mix is a good way to keep things fresh once in a while too
The opening was perfect pfft. I was so happy with the brand weapons, I wish they brought back Toni Kensa weapons- Forge Pro basically is the new K Splattershot Pro but replaced Splat Bomb with Suction then kept Booyah Bomb. Silver Flag reached on that 🦑

I just wanted to say something about Custom Range Blaster: In the file for the weapon, there is an alt texture, _however_ it is 1) unchanged from the default and 2) not actually used in the material (it still pulls the default Range Blaster's texture) So it looks like they were planning to do a custom texture for the Custom Range Blaster but just forgot / gave up.
Gold and Cuttle are a part of the same brand (both handmade by sheldon), Custom Jr isnt actually owned by Custom, its owned via Splat, All brellas are owned via Sorella they just collab with other brands sometimes to make the second kits. The icons do NOT determine the actual branding of the weapon, just the names matter. Annaki Nova from the inkpedia list is also incorrect, that weapon is owned by Splat. 😭
I saw the Annaki logo on the thumbnail and was gonna ride or die with the whole brand, but we're just talking weapons sooo..... yeah Annaki Nova looks neat! :)
Sometimes I wish we could apply the stickers or skins ourselves. Not changing the kit, but the looks and sounds. Like an “Order E-Liter” or “Order Splattershot Pro”.

sorry but i have to yap about brands here This isnt really how the brands work in universe weapon brands are the ones who manufacture both first and second kits. (both the vanilla stamper and the nouveau stamper are made by nouveau) there are like. 12 different weapon brands in the game: splat: made the jr, splattershot, pro, nova, splat roller, big swig, splat charger and mini splat's second kits are usually named after other in-universe brands (except for junior) custom, neo, deco, foil and nouveau you should already know sorella: made every brella, including the recycle brella for some reason. 2 of their second kits are named after their own brand while tent is named after inkline and rebrella is just a different version ammo knights: made the Aerospray, the dynamo roller, the nautilus, the bamboozler and also both hero shot and octo shot replicas. they're made by sheldon using his grandfather's blueprints D (nicknamed "dolphin") made the nozzlenoses, the squiffer and the dread wringer Tentatek: made both tetra dualies and the tentatek splattershot in collab with splat stringer: literally only ever made the tri stringer Nintendo: nintendo shameless plug (they are literally an in-universe brand) the order weapons do not have a brand apparently
Personally I wouldn’t mind reeflux with reefslider, if it didn’t have wall And Enperry knee what they were doing with the dualies. Love the gold and black color, and the kit is perfect for going in and deleting everyone

Don't you sometimes feel like you're going crazy, and then you watch Inside Out 1 and suddenly everything clicks in your head, you know the people you love hate how it all clicked in your head, and then you shove down all of your emotions and memories? Don't you sometimes feel like you finally know what it is like to have a healthy mind, but then you're too scared to have it and want to return back to feeling like an empty husk of a puppet? Don't you sometimes feel like you're bound to just snap and do something crazy? What does this have to do with weapon brands? Well, I used to for the longest time not really care about them because there's nothing about them in the main game, only in side content and not a lot of stuff about them in the side content that isn't in the main game. I get they're not the focus, but I NEED content to consume, otherwise my brain just dies. I NEED TO CONSUME MORE AND MORE CONTENT JUST TO STAY ALIVE, PLEASE NINTENDO YOU HAVE TO KEEP ME ON LIFE SUPPORT, I CAN'T JUST TALK ABOUT ALL OF MY FEELINGS IN THERAPY PLEASE! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD NINTENDO, PLEASE! I'm not going crazy, you're going crazy. I'm fine. I may have no self preservation in me, but I don't need it. also when it comes to rating weapon brands, dont forget that they dont just make perky versions of existing weapons - they manufacture ALL weaponry deco didnt just do a cool version of the og slosher, they MADE the og slosher
I love Custom's industrial tool aesthetic, they made the Dualie Squelchers, the Hydra Splatling (before they trimmed my boy down), the Sting Ray and the Explosher. Their weapon themes are on point and you get the idea they're some of the heaviest hitters. Then WHY ARE THEIR BRANDINGS JUST STICKERS?!
Lol didn't expect Tentatek to be so high but I do love the design of the Tentatek Splattershot in S3 over S2--it's so cute and pink! I always thought the S2 TTek was kind of ugly.
hello, reeflux 450 fan here, i have 5 stars on it and i am currently 1/3 done on 5 staring it's deco kit, i'll never shut about how dirty they did the deco kit, has it is true that there is no great synergy with it, i will say that having a wall ain't so bad since, i mean, it's a wall, if it had a splat bomb it would of made so much easier to secure kills ( r.i.p. my baby ) but i will say that there is one thing and only one thing wall and reefslider do well to toghether an that is that you can use wall to hide yourself afther a reefslider, simple, toss a wall where you want to use reefslider and back up a lil bit since other wise you wont be behind it, just one of the things you can do, no this doesn't deserve a medal, it's full of problem on hight level play but i simply tried to make it work, ( at least it was wall and not dart ) ps: i ain't no world chapion but i try to see the good.
