Unfortunately my Ride knowledge is limited so far I’ve only heard their classic album “Nowhere” but if I get up to speed I’ll definitely do a video on them!
@@MikeGodetteMusic I think you will love 'Going Blank Again'. Their 2nd album. Lots of variety on that one. Great catchy tunes with no choruses and incredible drumming. Leave Them All Behind is an eternal classic
All their albums are good...but Mezcal Head is AMAZING, awesome songs start to finish and amazing playing. Raise to me is a strong debut of a unique band, but I think Adam was still finding his vibe as a songwriter. At the end of the day pick any Swervedriver album and dig in, you can listen over and over and always find something new in 'em.
Raise was my introduction to Swervedriver and Sci Flier was the first song I heard, and it boggles my mind how you can think it's one of the least interesting tracks. That song made me a fan and is definitely in my top five Swervedriver tracks. That is all.
I was out with a friend of mine (we are both English) reminicing over Grunge. He's more into heavier music than me. I was talking about some British bands from the same period, and mentioned Swerve driver, and kind of surprised he had not heard of them, as he can be quite encyclopedic about music from this period, but also not surprised as they went under so many people radar. I saw them play in '93 they were supporting Curve at Leeds Metropolitan Uni. Spent the next four days going to Lectures with ringing in my left ear. I watched an interview the Tool's Justin Chancellor and he was talking about Swervedriver and that he was friends with their Bassist from back then.
I have loved Swervedriver since Mezcalhead came out. I listen to that album probably once a month, have seen them many times and love most of their material. Ejector Seat Reservation is my favorite, maybe tied for the Mezcalhead b-sides (Planes over the skyline, Paris etc.). Nothing hits like “The other Jesus”. They are a massive influence on my own sound. Thanks for the video.
i don’t know if i’d agree or disagree with this list, because i love every song off of every album. I definitely have a few favourites ( particularly from Mezcal Head and Ejector Seat Reservation ), but i love the whole discography equally.
Taste is subjective- so I won’t criticize your listing. But 99th Dream is up there with Raise and Mescal Head for me. They have been my favorite band for 30 years. To me, the first three albums build up to 99D - and that’s their Sgt Pepper moment for me. You really need to check out the b-sides - and Adam’s solo stuff (Toshack Highway and Bolts of Melody).
Very interesting, I’ve never thought of that album in that regard but I’ll give it a few more listens and see if something changes. And I’ve been checking out Bolts of Melody and have been loving it. I can’t stop listening to “I Could Sleep For A Thousand Years”. Just as good as Swervedriver in my opinion. Thanks for watching!
Thanks a lot! It’s a tough choice but in no particular order right now I might go with 1. Blowin Cool 2. Last Rites 3. Feel So Real 4. Theascending 5. Girl on a Motorbike What are yours?
@@MikeGodetteMusic In no particular order, - Harry And Maggie - Blowin Cool - Deep Wound - Last Day on Earth Narrowing it down to just 5 is so difficult so my the last spot would go to either Autodidact or Mary Winter Swervedriver are such an underrated band its always a pleasure to find people talking about them online still!
as far as ranking...I've loved SWD since the begining... .and I would only switch 98th dream and Ejector seat.......but I totally disagree with many of your song preferences as noted...but cheers mate. big respect for promoting a great band
What ARE U LISTENING TO DUDE REALL!!!!! THERE ARE LIKE 40 GUITAR TRACKS IM MOST OF THE SONGS ON 99th Dream....it's more spacey.....Electric 77 is great....it's produced more psychedelic....but there are like 5 or 6 beautiful songs..especially the lead off!!!!!.....WAY better than Ejector seat .....where they are trying 2 grunge it up
