Gon is a realistic child protagonist. He acts like a child, judges others like a child, and makes mistakes like a child... with all the realism and horror that comes with that. Also against Genthru Gon knew that the plan would work and that they had the cure all card as an option... but he's still a stubborn little kid.
@@hariman7727 Gon is no realistic child protagonist, nor is Togashi trying to depict any sense of childlike nature within Gon by the Chimera Ant Arc. You can say that he has his childlike moments, which he does, though if you seriously think that by the time he sacrifices his own arm (pain that no "realistic child protagonist" could handle), he's still a stubborn child, you simply have poor comprehension of storytelling. The Chimera Ant arc and the rage he felt over Kite even though he'd only known him as a mentor for 2 weeks~ supports this even more, as he didn't think twice about leaving his friends or even throwing away his dream to meet his father as a Hunter away.
@@Tentorizedtbf in the manga, he knew kite in the first chapter, and kite was who told him the truth of hunters and was essentially his opening to the world
@@afewthreads1460 I know this fact, and I chose to intentionally disregard it as I personally decided that no "realistic child protagonist" would value someone such as Kite to the lengths that Gon had, taking into account how little time in Gon's life Kite had. At least, not to the extent of throwing their entire future away.
Also, Hisoka, he knew the dude's dangerous and go there to take his badge. He trained days to deal with Hisoka, instead he could have gone for other people badges, but no, Gon wanted the hard way, the "Ging way". Hisoka could have killed there. All Gon does is likely to "prove" to his father he is worth it to be a Hunter. Also, the match against Razor. He survived by luck. He passed out and evades the ball but went all out.
Plus Gon would've immediately died if he tried to fight Pitou after he killed Kite in front of him, if Killua didn't stop him it would've been game over!
@@blackaku He goes against Hisoka because Gon is stubborn and stupid. For Gon, in the beginning of that exam, it's impossible to face Hisoka, to take away the badge and to escape. He does it because it's "the right way" to do it. He wants to prove himself to his idea of Ging. He thinks that he needs to do everything (for his dad) the way he thinks it's meant to be done (for example when he face Hanzo, he could have died, lose a arm, a leg, the eyes... etc) He would have had more probabilities going for other badges, see, because when he miraculously take Hisoka's badge, Hisoka immediately catch Gon, and that's why Gon was so upset. He "cheated" in the exam, he didn't earn it, he wasn't worth of the Hunter Association. But he did it anyway because he is borderline crazy.
Awesome??? Did you not hear the cold stuff he told Killua becuz of that nature? Telling Killua that its easier for him becuz he doesn't care I wanted to go there and break his arm for that comment He's reckless and dangerous, its a good thing he's lost his nen Hopefully he grows more mature ( Gon is so pure that 1 drop of evil shakes his core being)
@@gillwolfbat2191there are cards that can literally bring you back to life no shit he doesn’t care his a fucking kid we humans now have go teachings but there in the past bass of what I seen
Perhaps not everyone but it is definitely a common trope in shonen, Naruto, Goku, Seiya, Luffy, the Elric brothers, Vash the Stampede, they all come to my mind.
Is not even that dark or too real for that matter. HxH just delivers a bit more of consequences to the main character for his antics, but only a bit, cause if it was as real, Gon would be gone in the first couple of episodes.
@@FriedRice-ie2reI think it's slowly becoming not "only a bit". The consequences just keep getting worse and worse. The only reason why Gon didn't die in early episodes (and keep healing) is so that Togashi can show such darkness over and over again, and worse each time. It also works with Kurapika, though, even when he's not really a traditional shounen protagonist, he's also into the self-destruct mentality which does have an impact on him.
They definitely ARE like this, but I like the way it is shown with Gon in particular, out of every MC I’ve ever had the pleasure of watching. I love that for a while, it’s not really obvious as to how far he’s willing to go and how deranged he is. How he’s willing to let you lie just to have a reason to beat some ass… all through the guise of being a little green dude. You can see he’s very reckless, but you don’t understand the full extent until the Pitou fight. And I like that it comes at a cost, even if temporary or what have you. And he’s still NICE, he’s usually rather kind, but I love that basically nothing can force him to shift his objective and he will throw himself at it with 110% effort. Like, he HAS to do whatever his mind is set to do, he HAS to. I LOVE that stuff, man! I think it was portrayed best here, versus DBZ or Naruto, Bleach, you name it. (Open to suggestions of similar MCs but I don’t see many really plunge into things like Gon)
I mean if i were him I'd probably do and feel the same way It's either i manage to live and be able to change my life or I'm living in a terrible world, powerless towards what's happening, basically living a torture. I'd rather try and fail at achieving life i want than live a life knowing I can't do anything about it, he did go to some extremes I wouldn't go to tho i think... But i would also feel just as much mentally depressed... Outside of making immature decisions based on his own ego, he's relatable in that desperation
Many people consider Gon as selfish or psychopathic when they forget how murky the world of Hunter x Hunter and its inhabitants are, they judge Gon and At the same time they deify more deranged characters like Killua, Hisoka, Kurapika or even Meruem.
People who say Gon is bland really haven't understood him at all, the guy has no limit and he doesn't care about good or evil. He is savage and caring.
Gon got that from his dad even when he never got raised by his dad, I mean look how ging gave him up to pursue his self interest he is stubborn to find out about the world
I like the dynamic that Gon is sort of a sociopath in certain ways. It doesn’t matter who killed Kite, could’ve been a kid, old woman, friend, etc, he was gonna kill them, and probably kill innocent people to do it if needed.
No, Gon wouldn't have died, the last exam was the perfect fit for Gon because it was a test of determination, if he died Hanzo would have been disqualified
He still could have died and would have if it were most other people in hanzos position. How did you forget? Hanzo told him that he could just retake the test again next year if gon didn't give up and he killed him.
He’s not reckless he’s selfless and calculated, willing to sacrifice for others and his dream Edit: he is reckless lol but readers shouldn’t dismiss him as just a child when he leads physically stronger adults with his spirit. He’s innocent with how pure he is, but not naive he still deceives. The kid leads idk why people fault him
He's selfish and immature and its been foreshadowed during the entire story. Moat of his decisions are made based on his values which he's unwilling to compromise upon
@@elathicc6811 he has good values. The only way he’s selfish is he doesn’t compromise his ideals. You can see from the first episode he’s even more mature than the boat captain. People piss on his brashness cause of his age, but they’re really jealous of the young boys indomitable spirit
@@The_Wanderer903 immature in physical strength, not ideals. Netero had the same outlook, so does Ging. It’s not impractical for them thought cuz of their age, which lead to physical strength. If Gon’s spirit is immature, so are theirs
I'm telling you. The Freecs may be a type of human from the Dark Continent. Gon had been reckless too many times. It's like he enjoys being in life or death situations. He also heals very fast. If you read the manga, Ging is definitely on a ridiculous level. I can't imagine Ging in life/death because he'd be like Gon but with an immensely insane level of nen use. And of course, the one we all want to see, Don Freecs.
During the heavens arena arc, Gon signed up for a battle with a nen user even though A: he didn’t know how to use nen yet, and B: he was told by his master MULTIPLE times not to sign up, since he wasn’t on that level. This got him SUPER badly injured and almost resulted in wing giving up on gon
The strongest characters in HXH are the ones with the highest resolve. Resolve used in this context means having a firm desire on a course of action. Netero, Kurapika, Ging, Meruem, all the royal guards have so much Nen power because it directly correlates to how strongly they believe in their purpose without waivering. Gon risking his life is just a testament to how much confidence he has in ending it all to get the task done.
I've seen a RU-vid content creator said this : "Gon is unhinged, but he was raised in the right and just society, and he grew up to uphold righteousness. Meanwhile Killua is actually a goodhearted kid raised in the wrong circumstances."
I belive (after the anime), Gin already know what he need to do to Gon give his power and survive everything. I mean he or somebody have a power what can say the future or what he need to do for something (Or same thing). This is why he send Gon to help Kaito. If we see, they defeated all enemy, and Kaito survived to. (So this was the way to Kaito survive) ....
