It is a contest where countries win for political reasons (Ukraine for being at war, Sweden/Finland when they applied to NATO etc) - most nations vote their neighbours in blocks like the Nordics (Sweden,Finland,Norway,Denmark,Iceland) , the Balkans (Serbia- Montenegro, Croatia, BAH, Slovenia), Albania-Italy,Romania- Moldova, the Baltics(Lithouania, Estonia, Latvia), the Eastern Slavics etc. When all of those are ongoing to the contest, it's hypocritic to focus just on two small countries exchanging votes between each other and mocking them - they are the same country after all, with the same artists and the same music industry. But the Nordic countries don't exchange their maximum points at such a great level, in 2019 the Norwegian jury gave their 12 points to Czech Republic, in 2021 to Malta and in 2022 to Greece (the singer lived in Norway so I don't know how subjective that was), the Swedish jury in 2021 didn't give Finland any points and the Danish jury in 2022 gave their 12 points to Greece and their 10 ones to The Netherlands, although many other countries gave Sweden 12 points that year.
I mean, we are supposed to be one nation. Other countries do the same thing, like Turkey, and Azerbaijan (or did because we haven't seen Turkey sinve 2012, hope they'll return eventually), or the entirety of Scandinavia trading 12 points (mostly to Sweden) It is what it is.

I find this 12 points exchange between Cyprus and Greece stupid, because there are songs from both Greece and Cyprus that may not deserve 12 points. If a song is good, that's ok, but there were times when was like why did Cyprus gave 12 points to this song, or how could Greece give 12 points to this song. Yes, this is a comment from a Cypriot, and I have friends from Greece who say the same thing.
To all those people claiming that it is not political, I want to remind you Ukraine won because of politics, Russia was expelled because of politics, Sweden and Finland finished first and second the very same year they applied for NATO membership... but I guess the Ukrainian song was a masterpiece🤣, the Russian song had a copyright infridgment and that's why it was expelled (and not because of any political thing like war for instance🤣)and Finland and Sweden winning had nothing to do with Russia or NATO🤣... Also neighbouring countries never vote for each other🤣 like the Scandinavians never really vote for eachother but they are super objective and the same applies to Romania and Moldova, the Baltics etc. So the only problem in this so OBJECTIVE contest which is clearly about the best song, is two small countries voting each other on a stable basis. 🤣 So no it isn't an objective contest but even if it was, almost every artist that participates for Cyprus is Greek/Cypriot and vise versa. Greek music industry and Cypriot music industry are actually almost the same. So when Foureira for instance is a famous singer that lives in Greece and has its base and fans in Athens, when she is representing Cyprus of course she will get 12 points. Same with every artist as many artists that live in Greece are Cypriots (like Eleftheriou which sang Aphrodisiac in 2012 or even Anna Vissi who represented Greece in 2006). So Cypriots are representing Greece quite often and Greeks or Cypriots that have their base in Athens represent Cyprus quite often as well. My point is that when you see artists from other countries they are foreign to you, but when Cyprus and Greece have the same artists in their industries. Almost every Greek artist is known in Cyprus and almost every Cypriot singer is known in Greece.

The real problem here is that the votes of the Turkish Cypriots are not counted. İf Europe could count these votes. Greece never take 12 points from Cyprus.
Turkish Cypriots have the same rights as all everyone else, so they are entitled to to vote in every election in the Republic of Cyprus. This includes the right to elect the vice president of the country, as well as the right to elect a proportional number of Turkish Cypriot representatives in the parliament and municipalities. The can also vote for the ESC if they so please. All services of the Republic of Cyprus are available to them, such as free medical care and getting an EU passport, despite the fact that they do not pay any taxes nor contribute to the economy in any way, as they live in the part of the island that is under illegal military occupation. And as a reminder, Turkey won the Eurovision song contest in 2003 thanks to Cyprus. Up to that point Cyprus and Turkey had never given each other a single point, but in 2003, Greek Cypriots gave 8 points to Turkey which was enough to give Sertab the win by 4 points over second placed Belgium.
@@NYAndreas If you look at him, he gave 12 points to your competitor in Turkey in 2005. He gave 10 points to Sakis Rouvas last year. So what you're saying doesn't make sense from that point of view.
