😂 this was the safe take. Collin usually parrots the safe take. Luka had lbj comparisons and bust cause of a lack of athleticism. Collin at some point had both takes
@@sephirrothvtJust because the comparisons were real doesn't mean its not a terrible take. Why would it mean the NBA would say we're good we don't need you? Clearly having both is only good. Its a ridiculous take that he made for this exact reason. It got clicks and still gets air
@sephirrothvt Jabari was plagued with injuries sure but Ben simply lacks drive to get better his athleticism allowed him to coast to the nba then the minute he's asked to improve he doesn't want to because he's never had to until he got pro then he sold the Atlanta series and went on a tantrum and hasn't shown any improvement in Brooklyn I never saw the hype and I got called a hater until people saw the exact issues I was talking about not to mention none of them play like Bron it's jus like the mfers that get compared to curry and play nothing like curry
It's crazy the amount of pressure and hype that Lebron had, the fact that he not only lived up to it, he actually exceeded it is what amazes me about him.
@foooobar10 that's true. I feel like the comparisons to his father are bound to happen tho and the talks of him being a bust are for sure going to be happening when he comes in the leauge. Most kids from former nba stars don't perform anywhere near their father's. And bronnys did is the Lebron James, regarded as either the second best player or best player oat
It's really not LeBron's frame or skillset that's unique, even though he maximizes it, but there's still plenty of players with these things. They just never have the discipline. He clearly has a vision of being able to do everything humanly possible (and not humanly possible) in a basketball game, and the others just don't share that vision.
that vision you are talking about, which is true. will become less exclusive to lebron and it already has will all the intelligent playmakers we see today. lebrons stands amongst them because of his frame, athleticism and the way he understands and leverages that to combine with his vision.
@@DurealzForRealI don't agree. I don't see Giannis, Jokic, Embiid, Luka, Trae, Ja, Zion, Lonzo, Lamelo, Kyrie, KD, Booker, Tatum, Foxx, Dame, Steph, and Wambenya[sp] doing what Lebron has done or anything close to it. That's play 20 seasons without injuries, win multiple championships and 1 for the team that drafts you, become the top in scoring, assists and rebounds all the while playing the most playoff games, most finals appearances, and owning a conference for 10 seasons straight.
I would disagree. There are very few players with his combination of size, pace. and strength. Add in his basketball IQ alone and then the group is even smaller. That's not even considering his passing and his post up game.
I think one aspect about LeBron that gets overlooked is that he came into the league with a jumper, though it wasn't a great one, he still could get hot from the perimeter within his first 2 years. Other than jabari, every other "next LeBron" completely lacks a jumper altogether. I mean by 2008-09 Bron was taking and making as many 3s as kobe , tmac, melo etc. guys like ben simmons and zion would've had to be shooting around the same volume as todays star shooting guards and small forwards in amount of 3s taken by now to be on track with Bron's progression as a player. I think people see a high school star with athleticism and passing ability and immediately try to paint that player as the next LeBron when in reality LeBron had more than that coming out of high school.
Overlooked asf. LeBron's jumper is not wet like Kobe's but he still shot about the same percentage as TMac from midrange. That still takes serious practice.
@@jasonredic9457 He could shoot his first go in Cleveland and then the Heat he discovered the 3.. hence he began to keep shooters and boom ppl think its just Ray Allen. They forget Wade taught him how to lead and against the Spurs Wade was technically hurt so boom they lose that one in 14. Lebron goes back to Cleveland loses again, Kyrie & Love got hurt.
Absolutely nobody has missed anything about LeBron, bruh. He's 21 years into his career and he has been in the forefront of the NBA media that whole time. Part of the reason he was so hyped was because he had a decent jumpshot when he came in on top all the other stuff. He has has a pullup middie and three point range since middle school, so you don't need to explain any scouting reports on him anymore.
@@jasonredic9457 LeBron is and always has been a better three point shooter than Kobe Bryant. Casuals like Kobe's jumper because it looks better when he makes it in people's faces, and LeBron's wide-shouldered shot has always been ugly. But by the numbers he has taken way more threes and made more threes PER GAME than Kobe at a higher percentage. And this is was under the same 1-man offense circumstances before anybody says anything dumb about Kobe needing to take bad shots on bad Laker teams. Shot selection is part of being a good shooter, and LeBron had LESS help in Cleveland while Kobe was making his 2nd run w/Pau.
We keep trying to put people in Brons shoes and they're not realizing how monumental those shoes are. We've been so used to taking him for granted that we don't realize how crazy Bron has been.
The NBA paid 1 Milllion $ to have the right to play Metz 92, Victor Wembanyama team’s last season, so i’d say Victor had/has just as much hype, he had guys like Travis Scott coming at his game in Paris, taking pictures with him like he is the star .. And the whole NBA was fascinated, from Lebron to KD, Curry, Giannis, Dame, Trae Young ect, i know Iverson said things like « Lebron look like a bigger me » ect and other players were impressed but i don’t think the whole league, like all the Top players were talking about him like the next big thing. So i think Wemby just got as much hype, the only difference is that he isnt American, and that’s a big difference because if he was American Wemby would have surpass Lebron hype by far, the guy dominated a grown man league last season, lead the league in pts, rebounds and Block, won MVP and DPOY lol, if he played in College he would’ve averaged 35ppg, 15 boards, 2-3 steals and 7-8 Blocks 😂
@@Anthonydu01630 The early 2000s era that Lebron surged in was waaaay different than this easy, open, connected, technological, hypeful etc climate and era. And the players weren't even like they're right now, so incredible and connected friends.
@@Anthonydu01630 NGL I’ve been kinda disappointed in Wembys output so far. Season is still young so he has time to pop off, but early results are leaving me confused. So much hype for a negative OBPM, negative VORP .000 win share guy. Who shoots 43% from the floor standing at 7’3… Tim Duncan’s rookie year was 10x what this kids has been so far… he’ll definitely be a force in this league eventually, but the hype is sorta unwarranted. Also, bron didn’t have a great rookie yr, but was still more productive at 18 than a 7’3 guy who’s played against pros…
@dreamshakejake3736 Duncan was 22 and had 4 years of solid college ball. Not 19. Also wemby is on a much worse tram than Duncan was on. These takes from some of yall are embarrassing.
Dr G here. Love this series of comparisons to the next…. Keep is up. Overall the media driven trope is kinda silly but a good way for them to get reads. But these videos looking back on the first head to head matchups of these players is a really fun way to put pre draft media hype in it’s place. Just hype. Let them show it on the court. Thanks for all the head work
I was actually at the game Jabari Parker played LeBron the first time. wanted to go really bad as a Cavs fan to see this matchup specifically. was really impressed how Jabari Parker played in that first game. definitely a cool memory.
Not once did I ever hear Parker touted as the next lebron, he was always compared to melo and Paul Pierce, Wiggins was the one who was always compared to lebron and tmac
Jabari wasn't the next LeBron. It was Ben Simmons and Zion. LeBron is unique. We will have to get by with Anthony Edwards without playmaking, Luka without atleticism and Zion without shooting and all of them without defense. When Steph and LeBron retire it will be a real blow
Anthony Edwards playmaking improved this season and he's the best 2 way guard in the NBA, Edwards plays defense. Plus Edward is a way better ball handler, shot creator etc
@@dre7147if it wasn’t for Gobert and Mike Conley jr making that team defensively stout and giving their offense an actual floor general. Ant would still be just a high volume shooter. Not even the best player on his team.
Luka gets more viewers than LeBron, so does Steph. Luka is LeBron without the crazy athletism, more clutch, better shooter, better fadeaway midrange 3 inside the paint as well, better passer and rebounder. Also watched him clamp up bron Steph shai Mitchell Tatum kd
I had high hopes with Simmons back when he shown flashes with the sixers but sadly the decline. It's just proves that some people can't handle GREATNESS at high level. I wish him the best, he's just 26 y/o.
Was thinking something similar about the NBA..Tmac, penny hardaway and drose all wore number 1 and they had potential to be great NBA players..all got injured..penny n Tmac had the same jersey in Orlando..when u get a chance go RU-vid - are you a good person by living waters
Its the same as calling someone "the next Messi" in football. Not sure what it is, but when that phrase is used it leads to that player completely and utterly collapsing
Jabari on sports Illustrated prolly was the last time i read a magazine. i remeber reading it like Yeah right. watch him make his way to the league. then was like "not happening, but let me see. next time i look up bucks drafted 2/3 other players that play better than him in the same position. damn hope the pressure wasn't to much
Not even close. Simmons never could be the slasher like Lebron, his body control, mid air hang time, speed/quickness is not on the same level as level as Lebron ever
Having followed the draft in those years closely, especially 2014 (I was big on Wiggins,Embiid and Jokic among others) I can say there was NEVER a draft comparison between Jabari and LeBron. Also, Jabari was consistently the top prospect in high school until Wiggins re-classed. In college it was always Wiggins 1 and Jabari 2 until JoJo (Embiid) started to shine. I can give you the exact comparison of the 3 and even other standouts in the lottery. Wiggins - Comp was T-Mac and Paul George (way early PG played). Career trajectory was going that way until towards the end in Minny (loss of Saunders hurt his development, r.i.p.) Jabari - Comp was ALWAYS Melo. Inside and outside game with good handles Embiid - Olajuwon (yes even coming out of the draft this was his comp) given his footwork and elite defense. Even though Wiggins won freshman player of the year, Embiid leapfrogged him for top prospect until his injury late in the year Zach Lavine - Russell Westbrook athleticism that could shoot 😂 Julius Randle - Chris Webber play style and physicality This was the draft comps from top scouts and sites like ESPN, nbadraft, B/R, etc. Now yea Ben Simmons was getting those LeBron comps at least offensively and projecting him to have similar stat lines to Bron in his prime although that didn’t pan out due to Ben forgetting how to shoot 😂 Honestly the only one I was surprised that didn’t get it the comp much and should have was Luka
@@michaelcinelli8793 Did I think he was going to be a top 20 (currently) all-time player and the best player in the league alongside Giannis (another current top 20 player)? Of course not haha but I knew he should've went in the first round. But I was big on foreign players then even when it still wasn't a sure thing. Saric, Nurkic, Exum I thought would be some of the best players in the draft not named Wiggins, Embiid, Parker. Of course Nurkic is decent and Saric is rotational and Exum had injuries and never panned. Now Luka I thought should've went #1 and was the best prospect since LeBron.
Lebron is a hard worker. He knows his athleticism is fading(it's still there) so he made sure to work on his shooting. He's shooting 41% from 3 right now
It blows my mind how every 2 years the media thinks we have another LeBron. We never will, there will NEVER be another LeBron James. It might sound corny and played out but he is the most unique player in nba history. Not only is he an athletic freak genetically with the durability of a 1997 Honda Civic but his intelligence on the court is unlike anything we’ve ever seen. To have someone 6’9” with the highest basketball IQ in NBA history by a wide margin that has dedicated their entire life to this sport and through 21+ NBA seasons still loves the game just as much as the first time he touched a basketball is just so incredible. I’m so honored I was alive to watch LeBrons career. At 18 years old this man came out of high school deemed the chosen one with expectations we couldn’t have ever dreamed of yet he not only lived up to the highest expectations of any athlete in sports history but he exceeded them. And no, I’m not “a bronsexual” in fact, I’d say I borderline hate the man😂 I watched him knock my Celtics out of the playoffs more times than I’d care to admit but you know why I hate him? Because he is so ridiculously great at playing basketball. Hating an athlete because of how good they are is honestly a huge compliment. I just feel bad for all the LeBron haters that have wasted all this time trashing him to make their favorite player look better because when this man retires I promise, you will regret taking him for granted. We will never see anything like him again
Jabari was gonna be that dude. Just Giannis got drafted, and he had so many injuries it couldn’t happen for him. His talent was never the question tho. I just think he was more of the Melo mold.
Players getting injured shouldn’t be considered busts!! If there playing good before injuries can’t blame em for getting hurt!! Especially for someone like Greg oden he was a beast when he played
Im a Kobe fan but I will always respect Lebron for not only taking on the challenge of the franchise woes at a young age but this man has not averaged under 25 points since his rookie year. This man was freaking 18 coming in the league damn near averaging a triple double every season and STILL…..PLAYING….AT A HIGH LEVEL!!!!! Young players should understand, It is a underrated discipline and extremely important/High work ethic to become a Lebron. and this goes to Wemby, Once you become great and the main vocal point in the league. Media is gonna try to tear you down EVERYDAY.
Come on, it's unfair to say that Simmons hasn't put in the work. I mean haven't you guys seen his annual instagram training montage where it looks like he developed a jumper?😂
