Why and how blame Toei specifically? Also, sadly, it's been treated like this way before DBS started tbh. As much as I agree with sentiment of your argument, DBS's change did make it explicitly clear when Gohan is actually using his full potential (unlike a few times in Z).

@@windy3935 because in db manga, gohan is never shown reverted to any form after he achieved the ultimate. Only in the anime, movie especially, shows gohan transforms and detransforms the ultimate. Dbs manga also consistent with the permanent feature, at least until super hero movie recap where toyotarou needs to follow the movie storyline

​@@windy3935 You are correct. Ultimate has always been a transformation even in the original series. Even the video game's excelopedia such as the Tenkaichi/Raging Blast series states it to be a transformation. Toriyama had Elder Kai state in order for Gohan to awaken this power he would need to power up "just like when he turns into a Super Saiyan". The confirmation has always been there. When the original BoG movie released they showed Gohan going both Ultimate then SSJ for the ritual. Toyotaro and TOEI didn't change anything. It all once again boils down to Dragon Ball fans not being able to read.

They won't. And if you want them too, you're legitimately stupid. There's a reason why we barely ever see SS2 and SS3.

It is, they just didn’t decide on the bang thing yet. He went ultimate in the movie, he went ultimate in the manga, and he sees buu getting manhandled, there’s no reason to believe he was in base just powered hp

@wholegendgamer6082 The buu saga every gohan had a bang so that argument doesn’t work. It was just a choice made by the writers or the decision wasn’t made yet. Every other version of the story has him in ultimate for this part. If you honestly would rather think gohan saw gotenks, buu, and everyone else getting beaten and he thinks “yeah all I need is base” then think the animators forgot to add the bang or didn’t decide the bang was the ultimate indicator then fine, gohan is real dumb and thought he could take down someone beating buu with no problem in his base form

It wasn’t ultimate. In the training with Piccolo before ToP, they said Gohan hadn’t tapped into that power since the Buu Saga.

He has been training since ROF. That’s roughly 5 years worth of training. If he had been training since the end of the Buu saga, he’d be vastly stronger than he was by the end of TOP. Point is that when he regained his ultimate form he became stronger than he ever was and was bound to ascend if he kept pushing himself. I hate to admit it, but Gohan always had the potential to reach uncharted lengths of power if he got angry enough.

@@imjustadog1897 OK thats great man but it has nothing to do with my comment saying that the Beast transformation is completely out of nowhere, not forshadowed at all, AND automatically jumps him onto the level of the gods. Its utterly ridiculous. Gohan had the potential, we just skipped everything important to get him there which is garbage. Same thing with vegeta honestly.

Goku and Vegeta spent that same time, actually even more because Hyperbolic Time Chamber, training under the tutelage of Beerus and Whis, add to that the initial unreal power boost of god ki, then all of the additionnal forms and techniques they went through and you have the gap Gohan has to close. His 5 years of off screen training aren't worth anything, he wasn't even consistently training. The Beast form was an asspull in every sense of the word, unwarranted, undeserved, overpowered... you name it, it is.

@@ThatDudeThatReviews What did he tell his father during their fight before the TOP? A goal to achieve a form no saiyan has ever seen before? Doesn’t sound familiar? I get it. Offscreen training sucks, but the action speaks for itself. Vegeta just asspulled ss2 being stronger than ss3. Goku without his god form was doing better than he did when he had it. Frieza being better than ascended super saiyan god. 17 improved so well that he was already beyond ssg. I really wished the creator did better with power scaling and Toei animated more training montages instead of gag episodes and useless filler, but we didn’t get that. Hopefully the next installments will fix all of the issues that split most of the fandom. I seriously hope Dragon Ball comes back and better than what we were left with.
