This latest edition of "The Ultimate Guide" comprehensively covers all the recent iterations of the Ninja Turtles that have emerged since the previous release of the guide. Enjoy!
Same, no shame it was my favourite and I used to lie to my cousins telling them I was in the audience lmao, I even bought the NECA figures of them I love coming out of their shells man
I might have been a couple years older than you guys, but I had to watch it when I heard about it. No shame and no judging. I wasn't a fan, but that was just me. But I watched the 1990 movie twice every weekend for a few years and the 1980s-90s series until about 1995.
I feel like Rise’s boldness to try vastly new and different things encouraged future adaptations to try a couple new things too. My genuine opinion on Rise is that it has a great rendition of the turtles’s characters. Especially Donnie and April. (Usually Raph is my favorite, but Rise Donnie is basically autistic Tony Stark. How can I not love him?) The show’s very humor focused. Well written but it’s not as dark as I would like. It focuses on the turtles being really close together and the importance of family, a plethora of good brother (and April) moments. Raph makes a good leader where it counts. Taking care of them all as the eldest. Due to the rush of the second season the last few episodes get darker and more serious. You could tell the writers couldn’t take their time like they would have liked. It’s a tone that’s a lot more captivating to me which is unfortunate. The Rise Movie however basically takes a hard 180 tone wise compared to most of the series. It’s DARK, and horrifying in the best way possible. It has the BEST Krang, and that’s all I’m saying. This movie made me hyperfixate on this series SO BADLY. And got me to start on ALL the other cartoons alone. They introduce Casey Jr here, who’s adorable (for a war veteran from an apocalypse in the future). If you loved Mutant Mayhem, (which I did), I’m telling you it’s just as good if not better. I can’t recommend it enough. If they did do a third/future seasons I would hope they would go in this darker direction, but still embracing the strong relationships (and jokes) they have with each other. Personally I’d like it if Raph and Leo were co-leaders as that apparently was a concept the writers wanted to explore before things got cut short.
I feel like Rise gave people Donnie a fresh coat of paint. It really made up for all the doofus portrayal of 2012 and reminded people that Donnie is meant to be a genius and a skilled warrior. That he doesn't need to be a pacifist. To this day, most people will say Brener's Donnie is their favourite Donnie - even fans who don't dig Rise will say he was a highlight in the series.
I remember hearing/reading/watching that the 2007 movie is a sequel to the 90’s movies. Basically after finally destroying Shredder once and for all in Secret of the Ooze, the turtles went their separate ways and that’s why 2007 starts with them all not together anymore. So it exists within the 90’s movie universe - even if it can be considered a standalone movie (you can watch it and not watch any of the 90’s movies and you won’t be lost at all). There is even a teaser at the end of the film that shows mementos from the live action 90’s movies.
I loved the ninja turtles ever since I was a kid. The 2003 tv show was my first introduction to this franchise, and I've been hooked since then. And I enjoyed all the movies as well with the 2007 animated movie being my number one. I haven't watched the latest movie yet, but I'll watch it eventually.
Always aware that Ninja Turtles had many different versions. As a kid, I always found it confusing that on my Turtles Game & Watch game from Konami had each turtle was wearing Red Bandanas.
Great video, I'd really like Last Ronin to be a movie hopefully as an end to the trilogy. Batman vs TMNT was great and would've been a good idea for Marvel to do a crossover with the Turtles as the Turtles were Marvel based & do live in New York
Donnie crushes on April - 2012 (cgi series turtles) Mikey crushes on April - 2014 (Bay Turtles) Leo crushes on April - 2023 - (Seth Rogen turtles) Raph tells Oprah he's been trying screw April - ROCK N ROLL TURTLES!!!!!!!
Donnie was generally angled towards April in Rise. It wasn't like in 2012, but there was a lot of nudges for Donnie supposedly liking the 'cute but mean' type.
The first 90s turtle movie will always be timeless. I grew up watching the 2003 and 2012 turtles on TV and still love them to this day. I remember not being interested in the rise turtles when it came out, but the Netflix movie is really great. And I love mutant mayhem as well and can’t wait for tales of the TMNT.
I actually started my hyperfixation into TMNT with Rise. And even after watching most of the other iterations, Rise is one of my favorites. I was around when 2012 was airing and I'd seen little bits and pieces of it, but they never stuck out to me, probably because I've never been super into sci-fi. Rise is such a new rendition of the turtles that you don't have to know a lot about any other versions for Rise to really grab you. The turtles' hierarchy and personalities are almost completely different and while some people may not like that, I personally find it really cool. It shows that you don't need to follow the same things outlined by the originals and the idea of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles can be incredibly flexible. It's so fresh that even most of the rouges are brand new characters. My problems with Rise mainly stem from how dirty Nickelodeon did the team. Nick wanted a less serious, more comedy based TMNT and while Rise does that pretty well, it's easy to tell from certain and the movie that the team was planning for a serious, overarching story line, but with Nickelodeon repeatedly failing to properly advertise them and airing them at piss-poor timeslots, it feels like the team wasn't able to do that. And don't even get me started on how bad the toys were (they snatched Donnie's eyebrows). With all this being said, Rise isn't technically over yet. They're in an "indefinite hiatus" which means that there could be a 3rd season if enough people demand it. Rise has a dedicated cult following and there have been petitions made to get Rise it's third season. Hell, the main guy working on Rise has said that it's very much possible that two different TMNT universes could air at the same time, meaning Rise doesn't really see Mutant Mayhem/Tale of the TMNT as a threat. I really hope Rise gets their third season and is less held back by Nick, because I'd love to see more stories with the turtles post-movie.
I'm happy for the new ones they are doing a 2d series, that the problem with 3d movies getting animated shows is that when they try to stay as 3d most of the times looks like incomplete versions of the movies because of budget and time
Great video I never knew about the Mirage Comics I thought she misspelled "image" for a second. Great deep dive and allows for everyone to get up to speed on what's going on with the turtles
Out of the 7 Animated versions of the turtles we got I say personally the list goes 7. Rise of TMNT 6. Batman vs TMNT 5. TMNT Mutant Mayhem Turtles 4. 2007 Movie Turtles 3. 80s Cartoon Turtles 2. 2003 Turtles 1. 2012 Nickelodeon Turtles
I'm glad the next series will be in 2D as I just couldn't get with the style of the movie, it really put me off. However knowing the tv series will be in cartoon form makes me much more willing to give it a go.
Thanks so much for this! I grew up in the 90s so de TMNT are part of my memories but not in a hardcore way (like Power Rangers), so this clarifies for me what i watched as a kid, what is connected and what is not, and specially how can i get into the actual comics. My mind is clear now 😁.
I just completed at least for me all the main tmnt figures of the series a movies my last purchase was the Neca Four pack their awesome Cowabunga TURTLE POWER FOREVER
My favorite is the tmnt mirage comics by Eastman+laird, tmnt 2003 cartoon, tmnt 1990 movie, tmnt ii secret of the ooze, TMNT 2007 movie, idw tmnt comics, Batman vs tmnt and tmnt mutant mayhem even the Tmnt last ronin.🥷🥷🥷🥷🐢🐢🐢🐢🍕🍕🍕🍕
@@TurtleC0mic yeah thank you and I have remember the teenage mutant ninja turtles when I was a kid, I’m really massive tmnt fan also a Greek of the Ninja Turtles.🥷🥷🥷🥷🐢🐢🐢🐢🍕🍕🍕🍕
I went to Wikipedia the other day they said they are making a Batman versus ninja turtles two but they didn’t say when is the release date next year or 2025 or some point in the near future you have to go to Warner Brothers, Wikipedia page and their list of movies, and somebody posted it there
Thanks for doing this video! I’ve always found the MIRAGE canon question to be confusing haha. If possible, I’d love a deeper dive on just that section as to which issues out of that 62 run are canon. I assume the ones not written by PL&KE aren’t official… Any way thanks!
Tmnt Knockoff Movies(Part 3) The Tmnt Movie 2.0:Tmnt In Lego(2006) Tmnt:The Movie 2.1:The 6 Secret Rings(2007) Tmnt:The Movie 2.2:Unleashed(2008) The Tmnt Movie 2.3:Tmnt & The 7 Black Knights(2009) Tmnt:The Movie 2.4:Tmnt Racing 72(2010)
Great vid! 2011 has gone past 100 issues, but I personally wish it wouldn't have. Its so bad. Hoping once Campbells weird ass is gone it'll get good again.
The 1990 TMNT movie is really only faithful to the 1987 TMNT tv show and not the original comic's, the 2003 TMNT tv show "which it the best one hands down" was the first one to go pretty much all the way with being faithful to the comic's.
I’m not the biggest fan of the Bay turtles but I prefer the first movie to the second one. The second one was so boring and they butchered Casey Jones.
Idk i think the cartoons keep getting worse and i love the ninja turtles. The 80’s cartoon will always be the best. Dont care for the animation in the new movie tbh
You are doing a video on every major version of the Ninja Turtles, yet your video didn't start with the first drawing of a Ninja Turtle that started the whole franchise which I would say was a major version of a Ninja Turtle if not the most important version given without that one drawing, there would be no Ninja Turtles.
