Weird Al Yankovic has had an extremely wide and varied career as a musician, but he's sometimes lent his voice to various shows, so join me as we rank every single one. Discord: / discord Twitter: x.com/StripeSquid
What if instead of Weird Al, his name was War Al, and instead of having fun and being a whimsical creature he just talked about what war does to a soul.
Celebrity voice acting can be good or bad. It could be bad like recently Mortal Kombat 1's Nitara is voiced by Megan Fox and we all know how kind of unenthusiastic her lines are. Or the recent portrayal of Chris Pratt as Mario. But there are celebrities who do a great job with movie roles like Mark Hamill's Joker, Jk Simmons' J Jonah Jameson, or recently Chris Hemsworth playing Orion/Optimus Prime Rogue One. I feel Weird Al as it the latter. Thanks to his persona and bombastic lines its nice to see him play different roles. As well as entertaining. His voices aren't annoying and because he is great with vocal range it works. He may not he my favorite Celebrity VA but he's the most bonbastic with his roles.
I feel like Hamill and Simmons are basically voice actors at this point. They have a very large amount of voice roles, and have done smaller bit parts in shows rather than only being mandated stunt casting in animated movies. Hemsworth though is a great example, he rarely voice acts but he gave his all to Optimus and treated it as a genuine acting role rather than just talking to a microphone. Al is great because he always gives it his all, and while he tends to play the same handful of types of characters (wacky over the top villain, side character with a musical number, himself) HOW he plays them always varies, so you're always glad to see him, unlike Awkwafina who always plays herself or Chris Pratt who always plays a variant of his Parks and Rec role
Unironically this video helped me remember a very specific piece of trivia i wanted to include in the current script im writing and thats both funny and epic
Alright, I am SICK of this mindset. Himself is a HORRIBLE performance. It was completely phoned in, the writing was awful, it was just a complete waste. Now, himself, on the other hand, that's the good stuff. You can tell Al put his heart and soul into it, something he didn't even CONSIDER for himself.
I have no idea how I could be so foolish. I have finally seen the light. I now accept Wordgirl as our new peak lord and savior. Join me, DekuCake4395, in spreading the good Word of the Girl! No but genuinely Wordgirl actually looks good. Not "good for a preschool show" genuinely good.
@StripeTheSquid Agreed. It's been a long time since I've watched it, but it made not having cable for years so worth it. Also, I have no idea why my username has those numbers at the end. They were just tacked on there at some point a couple years ago, I didn't put those there. Still have no idea what that is about.
