maybe it was a Really early errata , like they released that one misprinted as 2 then changed it at the next printing, I remember it being another number as well

I'm with you on the Winged Dragon #1, I thought the Red one was #1, and the Blue one was #2. My thought is that having the iconic Blue one as #2 led me to looking for #1 and finding out it was Red. So weird!

Realy random fact. But I remember they made Feral Imp look different in the anime. He looks super cute on the card but in the show he was super crazed looking. Even before the horn upgrade, his eyes were basicaly black. Almost bat like. Let me know if you think so?

Fake Trap has some applications iirc, it protects stuff like Gravity Bind & Rivalry of Warlords. I've used Blackland Fire Dragon in a Guardragon Link deck before '.' , & I'm currently playing Catapult Turtle FTK just get out a 20,000+ attack monster & lob it at the opponent ^.^ . Decimals round up in ygo. Cannon Soldier & Aile are not once per turn, if you have a tribute material loop they have infinite activations.

To answer your gate guardian question, you would have to summon it the first time using the 3 genies but after that, you could resummon it from the graveyard any way. The emphasis is on “must FIRST be summoned using…”

To add on this, there's a ruling that states a monster that has a summoning condition needs to be properly summoned first before it can be summoned in any other way

I think that one's wrong, Mate, cause nowadays there are a lot of cards with the wording 'you cannot normal or special summon or set this monster,' you must first summon/special summon this monster by doing X. Gate Guardian just says 'you can't normal summon it,' it doesn't say you can't special summon it, so yes, you can discard it and then use Monster Reborn on it, for example. Now, I can't recall if this worked in Kaiba the Revenge, was the name I believe. It might've been an oversight and not intended to be summonable from graveyard until you've summoned it by its special conditions once, yet, despite that, because of its wording, regardless of how it was intended, the wording makes the loophole that it works. So yeah, unintended or not, you kinda can. :D

@@pathalenvivaldi7811 no, actually the original wording was 'can only be special summoned by' so by the card text you couldn't even monster reborn it, that had a rulings errata while it still had the original text so the 'only' part was officially ignored and it worked as it should where you could reborn it if it was special summoned correctly first, & eventually it got the errata shown in this video, of 'must first be special summoned' so you have to summon it correctly first & then after that you can special summon it other ways, but if not summoned by it's effect you can't special it any other way. I was never rebornable off just discard.

@@Marcusjnmc Much like with DnD, following the precise wording, you can. Even if it's not intended, and it may be due to a wording change later on, the original wording allows you to special summon it, Mate. The question isn't what they may have intended, simply the matter of how they did end up wording a loophole in, in the end of the day, and if you were to follow official wording alone, yes, you can special summon it in other ways outside of its effect, such as from the graveyard. If they meant something else, which who can say, then that means they made it muddy due to inconsistent wording on monsters that are exclusively summoned by special means. Until they reprint a new version with different wording that actually restricts it, this loophole will exist, until then, this does work, as per writing.

@@pathalenvivaldi7811 no, it doesn't, the original wording uses the word 'only' which means that is the 'only' way you are allowed to special summon it, you're not allowed to special it any other way ever, unless floowing the official rules over the card text, which states that online errata overwrites card text regardless of what cards say. & the new text uses the term 'must be first' which means you must 'first' special summon it how it says on the card or you are not allowed to special summon it at all.

Summoning something from your graveyard is a special summon. A lot of monsters with special summoning conditions like Gate Guardian often have the specification 'you cannot normal or special summon or set this monster,' you must first summon/special summon this monster by doing X. Gate Guardian just says 'you can't normal summon it,' it doesn't say you can't special summon it, so yes, you can discard it and then use Monster Reborn on it. So there, it's viable now. ;D

no, you can't, it says 'must first be special summoned' , monsters with that text are the same as extra deck monsters, you can't special summon them until after they were first special summoned correctly, after that you can special summon them other ways, Black Luster Soldier Envoy of the beginning works that way too, as does every single extra deck monster.

The winged dragon of guardian of The fortress 1 there actually a windged dragon gardening up for fortress 2 but you can only get it in tournament pack either one or two and it's color red yeah. It attack is like 1200 atk and 1000 def

Cannon soldier isn't all bad. It's banned in the ocg, because the effect of tributing a monster to deal effect damage is very abusable in ftk strategies. Amazoness archer is also banned in the ocg for the same reason.

1:19:22 Cannon soldier saw a huge amount of play even to this day. If you have some kind of infinite summoning loop you can use cannon soldier for FTK's. Though it did get somewhat powercrept by the toon version since that one can be searched with toon table of contents.

I think you misread the card “big eye” because you’re talking as if the flip affect allows you to see the next 5 cards your opponent controls and set them in any order when it in fact only lets you do it for up to your next 5 cards from your own deck.

Raigeki, mask of darkness and magician of faith are all at 3. I think mask and magician of faith have been unlimited for a few years now but raigeki just came back to 3 on the most recent list. It does feel very weird seeing raigeki at 3, it’s been either banned limited for the 8 years or so that I’ve been playing and was banned for a long while before that

as a fellow yugiboomer who plays master duel i feel like you could totally find playable decks of your liking... the real problem you might run into is actually playing against modern yugioh decks

Yeah , that's what i meant. I heard you can make older decks but the problem is most people in ranked play are using modern decks. So i think they are aware of this issue and will implement different "generations" eventually.

I can't believe I never noticed the name "Jinzo", woooooow. Now that I speak some Japanese those names were so on the nose... "Hoshiningen" means "star human" btw lol and Also fun fact on Magic/Spell ruler, the card "Jigen Bakudan" means "dimension(al) bomb" but its original Japanese name is just a katakanization of "Time Bomber" lol

Hey Tekking. I know this is a little bit outside of your usual wheelhouse, but, considering the card game content you occasionally produce… figured I’d ask. So there’s this really cool puzzle card game on Steam called Inscryption. I won’t say anything more than that, especially if you haven’t heard about it or have seen around but don’t really know anything. It’s really cool, and I would to see you play it. I’m not a big stream guy, but if you uploaded the VODs to this channel, I would watch them. Even if you don’t play it on the channel, it’s really interesting and I think you would like it.

It's always been number 1. I remember thinking Yugi didn't say number 1 because it is number 1, like, there was no need. It's just winged dragon guardian of the fortress to me, and the red one is number 2. And they should have just printed it that way. The number 1 is unnecessary I think. But early yugioh had a lot of unnecessary stuff, like explaining what special summoning is on the first monster reborn.

Matt, I don't think Big Eye's effect is not that bad, that's actually not the problem here. You should probably reread it, it doesn't effect the opponent's deck, i effects your own. However it's still not that bad of an effect, you get to basically keep track of what you're drawing in the next 5 turns by arranging them in any order you like.

The 3 zombie counterparts actually did see quite a bit of play. Because they had exceptionally high stats for their low levels and there are quite a few powerful cards that work with low level normal monsters

So I know that in internet terms this video is old now and nobody probably cares anyway, but I believe Gate Guardian would work like an extra deck monster where you would have to have summoned it correctly in order to use a monster reborn or call of the haunted or whatever on it. Since it says "must first be special summoned" I think that is how it works since it doesn't specifically say it can't be special summoned in other ways.

I think for balance reasons seven colored fish should have been level 5. Then the powercreep would have been a little less drastic and a lot more cards would be good. There still would have been a powercreep with the 1600 atk monsters.

In original Yu-Gi-Oh although cards like Blue Eyes White Dragon, Gaia the Fierce Knight, & Dark Magician volumes (the original releases) were littered with 5-6 star monsters with the “terrible” attack/defense stats however were over powered when Power Creep with Hito Me Giant and Celtic Guardian and other cards like that were released

Fake trap was actually good in the first format as a great counter to trap master. Also back then trap master was the only way of destroying back row besides de spell. Your opponent seeing the trap hole wouldn't matter. In fact it might cause them to make suboptimal plays to avoid the trap hole

I honestly think the Moth cards are awful on purpose. Weevil throwing Exodia into the sea and being a pest throughout the rest of the series must have been fun for the creator of the game to make Weevil a joke. Can't believe the tcg is 20 years old. Gate Gurdian needs a retrain. It's one of few level 11 monsters the second including Yubel- Terror Incarnate.
