The only thing I dislike about wesker is when I vault pallet or window, he uses his power and like I am on the other side of loop and because he dashed I am getting teleported back and grabbed. EVERY SINGLE TIME.
What i dislike is the Infection progression not stopping when you're being chased, they really need to give that the Pig trap treatment, where it pauses if the killer is chasing It's literally so bad, getting unhooked and Wesker chasing to tunnel and have that thing not stop, terrible design in that part.
Hot take, you didn't actually make the vault by seconds and because his wack animation for vaults is currently non-existent (except for endurance hits), it looks like he got a hit that he shouldn't have.
@@sam7259considering you can grabbed from the other side of the window when you didn’t vault it’s not that you didn’t me make it. It’s that his grab hit box goes through walls.
@@Idontknowwhat2type if your feet landed, sure. If not, any killer can get hits like that with ping in the equation. Demogorgon shred lands those same hits you describe frequently.
@@Yoshiinite just imagine how many times you played whatever-side using some mid-tier perks and add-ons and still managed to get called a slur in endgame chat. People just be salty on this game and you can't cater to everyone.
He's also one of the most iconic characters in video gaming, and quite honestly the best looking male killer in the entire roster without being blatantly over sexualized, with loads of style and fun quotes.
I had a game like two days ago against wesker, where I dropped a pallet in the office on Lérys, waited for a second to see if wesker would use his power to vault it, then watched in disbelief as he used his power and I got teleported to the opposite side of the pallet and got injured. Just gave up the chase at that point.
I’ve always hated him honestly, between the janky hitboxes and his infection mechanic encouraging tunneling, I’ve never really enjoyed facing him. And the fact that he’s so overplayed is the icing on the cake
If every killer was as fun to play as and against as wesker, then there wouldn’t be so much of him. It’s behaviors issue with designing boring killers not wesker himself
I was surprised when I found out my friends hate Wesker, but they said it's mostly because of his bugs. Like how you get grabbed mid window vault, the janky hit boxes, desync, etc. Also, most importantly: Wesker is like one of the most played killers, and facing the same killer all the time could be boring.
@@lungzsno he's right, your just ass and can't play against wesker. If i want to tunnel I'll play make your choice deathslinger, no escape there, hell I'll play sadako because no body blocks, wesker is not the easiest killer to tunnel with, you just cant loop against him because you are inadequate, thats a skill issue, that's coping. Back to playing wesker until they nerf him to keep bitches like you happy.
I noticed they shadow buffed him before I used to vault a window and when he would go to vault it he would get cucked now I notice myself getting vacuumed back into his tentacle even tho my whole bodies already over the window
The main issue I have with him is that a lot of Weskers will tunnel pretty often and the fact that his infection stays even after hook makes it super boring and there’s little counter play when you’re 8% slower.
It has to do with whenever he pulls out his tentacle. "Put that thing away, there are children here!" We've all seen where it goes when he mori's someone.
6:06 I disagree with Wesker's hitbox being "completely fine". Every single Wesker I encounter, the same exact thing happens: He starts using his M2 > I juke it > I get grabbed anyway. There's nothing I can do but hope Wesker misses me by a large margin so I don't get magneto grabbed, which is essentially Nurse gameplay ("hoping that the Killer messes up else you get hit") and it's so boring. And people who play Wesker love nodding for some reason, so after getting unfairly downed they start aggressively nodding every time, as if I didn't just get robbed. And yes, I always check the Killer's ping, and it doesn't seem to matter if the Wesker player has a red ping or not.
I do not hate Wesker, but I do get pissed at how wonky his power can feel to both use and go against. Being hit when you were looking safe on your screen, missing a hit even tho you looked dead fucking on, etc. That’s not a major gripe from me tho. It’s only slightly annoying because he’s so cool and fun overall.
nah ive hated him from the beginning. just a stupid character from a stupid franchise. ive stopped playing survivor altogether since his release because of him
As a survivor main I enjoy playing against Wesker, as well as Blight which I know is uncommon for most. But it’s because they’re generally fun in chase and you can counter them simply. I think the big problem though is that you have these killers with crazy good addons or very strong abilities and as survivor we are losing most our best perks left and right. Next they’re nerfing BNP and Prove Thyself for example. With self heals taking so long and half the killers running sloppy butcher, no incentive to run boons because they’re just not worth the perk slots now, staying injured being the strong survivor meta it just becomes a grind for us. * EDIT * His hit box is most certainly NOT fine. His power while counterable, does have a very bad exploit that can be utilized after just a few hours playing Wesker. It gives him the ability to basically slingshot around objects with his dash when they should ordinarily stop him.
I love playing as wesker when im playing against him im no even mad when he plunges survivors in the wall i just laugh and the way he runs at you makes me also laugh
I noticed my friends don't like to play against him either, however they aren't very skilled at the game, hold w, and don't look behind them much. They don't interact with mind gaming his power or anything so they thinks he's just an oppressive killer with little counterplay. I don't want to call out everyone who hates him but I wonder if it's skill issue.
@larsliamvilhelmthat's just feature creep, and those other killers shouldn't be the standard at all, like half of them suck terribly. Like you really about to sit here and explain how pig or legion is well designed
The problems are the skill ceiling for other fast moving killers is way higher, the best blights and nurses in the game are without question better and oppressive. But as Scott stated it takes like 3-4 games to understand wesker's base kit. Most nurses and blights are just okay at them and dont do well. Most weskers users are just okay with him and do fantastic. Blight and nurses speed boosts come at draw backs where you really have to hit on rushes or you can lose chase by considerable distance. Wesker does not suffer this he can easily just lunge to close distance, with no aim to hit you on his power but to follow up afterwards in M1. Where nurse cant hit you without her power and blight is fairly challenging without his. Wesker movement speed while holding a power charge is fairly fast he can just follow behind you slowly and wait for you to run into a tight hallway, so he cant miss. Or wait untill he is right next to you and let go of his power hit you in m1. Im not saying he is totally unplayable, but he is very powerful for little investment.
I don't hate Wesker, I hate the Rebecca who led him directly to me, TWICE, when I had the last gen literally ten seconds away from being completed. An easy three man escape became a 4k.
weskers's hitboxes are abysmal. Being pulled back while 3/4 of vaulting is most miserable experience in this game. People complain about mending vs Legion while wesker is spraying simulator After mending because wesker will tunnel someone instantly. Baby Blight can't do mad flicks 1st game but wesker can dash and apply passive showdown no problem.
Nothing like being grabbed around walls due to the classic hi-ping weska, nothing like being hit by uwuboros as you’re dropping the pallet, being grabbed and the pallet being dropped anyway… nothing like the built in tunnel feature of infection, I could go on. Fun killer to play tho
I'd say infection not progressing isn't enough, and I would even remove the Killer Instinct if the person hasn't done a conspicuous action after being hooked. All too often Weskers end up tunneling the teammate who uses the spray shortly after hook because either A: The Wesker doesn't know where anyone else is, or B: The Wesker is intentionally tunneling the baby soloq teammate. Killer Instinct on spray encourages tunneling too much, when they are making progress against camping and tunneling everywhere else in the game.
one time over the span of two weeks i started counting weskers. i got over 140 of them. i wasnt even playing for that long each session, yet i got 140+ weskers. im beyond sick of him at this point, and god forbid i run into one using plaything.
My personal problem with wesker is how his hit box works and how it works when connection isn't perfect. I live very far away from the servers so my ping ranges from 89 (not great, not terrible) to 130 (almost unplayable). And thanks to BHVR after one of the patches you no longer can see your ping during the lobby time so now I can't even dodge lobbies with bad ping. And playing against wesker with shitty ping is the most frustrating thing in entire DBD. It's even worse than huntress hitting you meters around the corner. Because with huntress or any other killer even if you take some BS hits at least you keep your position of where you are and you keep your speed burst so you can gain some distance. But wesker grabs you around the corner, grabs you from other side of the window, grabs you through the pallet stun or from other side of a pallet. Imagine thinking that you are perfectly safe and you 100% making the next window and already planning where to run with lithe (yes I'm a lithe gamer), finishing fast vault animation with both feet on the ground and lithe activating but being grabed from other side of the window back inside. This is the worse DBD expirience ever. That's my personal reason to hate wesker. And the fact that it happens almost every other match due to him being popular.
i think what makes a good killer design in a power that has anti loop and maybe some mobility/map pressure or slow down but the anti loop power can be dodged, thats why killers like huntress, demo, oni, billy, blight, nemo, wesker and so on are liked whereas killers like clown and trickster are hated
I'd find Wesker a lot more fun if the servers weren't so trash. It's just not fun perfectly avoiding his dash and getting hit by it anyway. I've been getting hit around corners, metres through windows, through dropped pallets. I'm over it entirely.
The problem with Wesker is the playstyle almost all of them employ. 80% of them beeline straight back to hook after an unhook and tunnel until they either down the unhooked person, or until their infection reaches max and you’re all but guaranteed to go down. It feels awful to play against and infection should work like other killer mechanics. Why does it not pause like pigs traps while in chase? Why does infection not remove upon being hooked like singularity?
I've honestly always hated Wesker. After listening to everyone cream their pants when he was announced, I ended up disliking every game I was stuck in with him. Annoying voice lines, slowdown that punishes you for running him, and his power being able to cut loops short but also prevent you from being able to run. Definitely agree with Scott about hitboxes though, i've had ridiculous hits against him, but also avoided hits he definitely should've gotten me with. I did have one game where I was completely healthy and uninfected, Wesker grabbed me, slammed me into nothing, and I was on his shoulder.
the reason i hate wesker right now is because all i ever verse is facecamping weskers who tunnel people out at 5 gens, who barely use their power for anything else than mobility
The infection fix Scott mentioned is dead on. I'm not saying even half the Weskers are tunnel hounds but enough of them are because this mechanic in it's current state makes it easy to tunnel someone off of hook. By the time endurance wears off you're snared most the time.
i'd personally say its a mix of overexposure, AND the fact that the fun/strong killers always draw the sweatiest players alive. thinking of nurse, blight, oni (in some cases), whenever you see one of those 3 its either a baby or some 14 year old on adderal who's been playing nonstop for the past 48 hours. and there's no in between. but it's usually the 14 year old on speed.
His vaulting is actually a detriment unless it's: At one of the 3 windows it's ok at Or You vault from the absolute edge of your dash to maximize your catch up Other than that it literally causes survivors to gain distance with 0 worry.
Honnestly, one of the things that bugs me about Wesker, outside of how often he's played and his wonky hitbox. Is that his infection doesnt pause while in chase, which makes it super easy for people to tunnel with him. Which isnt very fun. Personal anicdote: its not fun to play against a Wesker who is on top of you five secconds into the game, because he happend to spawn near you, and thrn dash over before you can even get your bearings, also not fun to be tunneled out at five gens. Had this happen so many times, sure this isnt unique to Weskerz but I find it funny it always seems to happen when Im against him.
A huge part of the problem is that wesker (outside alien and singularity) are the only fun killers they’ve released in the last year, which is why so many people play him
I'd like to see something similar to the bloodpoint bonus for queueing up survivor/killer when the queue needs more people applied to underplayed killers. Nothing crazy, but if you could get an extra... maybe 25% bloodpoints for picking a killer that is under like 1% pick rate once a day, it would help increase the variety of killers we see in the game.
I love wesker, he is balanced, fun to go against, fun to play as, you can meme with him, he has awesome voicelines and animations, he doesnt feel unfair or cheap when he gets you. The only issue is that infection builds up without conspicious action (as you said)
when Wesker was killswitched like 1 month ago, i was so happy, was playing survivor non-stop! would be fantastic to have blacklist function for 1 or 2 killers, so people who enjoy going against him will get him, and those who sick of it will get other killer. I would immediately blacklist skull merchant, nurse and wesker
The only issue i have with Wesker is after they increased his hitbox it become unfair to play, I will vault a window sometimes start running on the other side then zowp!, I teleport back to Wesker's free grab. Yes, I know ping is a thing but literally no other killer in the game do I get teleported back to a hit this much, with wesker its every match, and sometimes its so stupid I just have to die go next since it's pointless at that point to even try using windows or palletes, sometimes you will drop a pallet and watch him go through it with his dash zooming you across the map.
I've abhored vsing weskers ever since he was released. I've never ever had fun going against one because it feels so difficult to counter him. However, I really enjoy going against nurses, so maybe my brain is just broken.
This isn't a Wesker problem. It's a Dead by Daylight problem. There simply aren't enough killers that are fun from an objective stand point. The only way they could fix this is by adding more fun killers (which they should do) or they nerf him by a ton (which they shouldn't)
I agree but they should definitely adjust his collision hitbox to match his grab hitbox so he can't grab you through corners or hug tech. Not really a nerf, more of a bug fix.
@@xc809 Not trying to sound rude but the majority of the community just suck at playing the game. You notice how most the Killers that Survivors have “fun” against are the weak ones Myers, Pig, Sadako etc.
The only reason I hate playing against Wesker is because his dash hitboxes get worse each update to the point where now you get grabbed over pallets you threw down and round corners. His dash grabs are a total joke right now and need fixing
Im one of the few that really enjoy going up against wesker, even though i see him in about 30% of my games. He is insanely fun to go against and id take him over half the killers any day. But for some reason ive seen alot of skull merchants (aka over 2 hours of dc penalties) I had 5 yesterday so ig BHVR decided to curse me
@@RedCommunistDragonwhy would you waste 30+ minutes of your time when you know you’re not going to have fun? Skull merchants usually play like their families lives are on the line if they don’t hold their 3 gen and 4k
@@truz8134 First off unless it’s an impossible skill checks Doctor almost no match goes for 30 minutes. Second stop acting like SM is one of 5 Killers, there’s like only 30 now. Fun is a subjective term and it’s been extremely weaponized within the Dbd community honestly I find most Killers equally funny face, with the exception of maybe Clown and SM and even then I DC going against them because it benefits me in the long run and I don’t screw over my teammates.
It's really weird how I hear people always complain about seeing Wesker all the time when I run into him about as much as any other killer that aren't things like hag and twins. Heck I see as many trappers as I see Weskers and even more of killers like Oni and Legion. I'm at high MMR as well considering me and my friend faced Coconut awhile back and since I was with my friend my MMR was even lower than usual. IDK maybe I'm just lucky
in the west coast there is almost no weskers. i can play 50 matches and get 2. my friends literally keep TRACK of how many weskers we get and its almost never more than 5. so when i see him its awesome
I don’t hate Wesker, I just hate how every Wesker runs the same damn build. I’ve never seen a Wesker with out Lethal. And I feel the same way with Demo with Stbfl which Wesker always runs
Came back to this game after 2 years because I absolutely love sci fi horror but I'm super rusty and singularity never clicked with me but I saw wesker and it was instant love and this explains why people DC against the most MID wesker in the world
For me, and it might be my fairly low rank as a survivor, but for me it's that a lot of Wesker's seem to just tunnel and have no issues facecamping. Like, I've gone against 4 today. And of those 4, only one didn't tunnel me and he still facecamped me. But I also didn't get anyone DC when they found out it was a Wesker in any of those games.
Im having the most fun in the game locker flashbang saving killers with my homies cause theres not much counterplay for the killer. Just like wesker pulling you through the window and forcing me to vault it again bruh. but i think hes ok to play against
Wesker is fun, especially making them accidentally dash through a window, but definitely is that problem of over exposure. It seems like EVERY match is Wesker. I can't take it anymore
I hate playing against good weskers. It's just too tedious to have to disinfect almost after every chase and when they have bad ping you get hit by his power in situations you shouldnt have and it's just boring af.
YESS 1000 Weskers is better then 1 skull merchant one thing I will say is weskers hit boxes can sometimes be janky. I've dropped a pallet, got the stun sound but he used his power to go through the vault and grab me. one power usage through the pallet apparently grabs me on the other side he didn't even vault it with animation was just like it wasn't there for him and went straight through and grabbed me also have this with windows sometimes with his power, ill be on other side of window landed and moving away from window but I get hit and dragged to the side of the window I already landed in and moved for a seondond before being dragged outside the window to be grabbed or slammed with the power. that is minor and would 100% prefer over a lot of the killers. edit: yes happens with other bad ping killers but swear its so much more noticacble with weskers power. (maybe just because more weskers hence more bad ping weskers or the fact that its a fast moving power, I dunno I just know I've noticed the jank around windows a fair few times. may be the bad servers tho mentioned in the video as well)
I have found Wesker frustrating since they increased the range of his grabs to 30cm, because it just makes getting hit on barely passable ping even worse. Alongside getting grabbed straight through windows, through pallets, and him having that 8% hindered *and* insta-down capabilities on his infection makes him frustrating to play against. If i played solo queue more, or just hosted SWF lobbies, the ping issue would resolve itself, but it doesn't really fix the rest of it. it's fucking hilarious when I bait a window and Wesker flies right through, but if I take a window, touch the other side, and get grabbed through it, I will not be happy, because I *made* that vault.
I agree, I like wesker he's fun to play and fun to play versus... until I see him every other game and it's not even the same killer player. That timeframe that he was disabled was one of the few times I played a lot longer than usual as I did not have to roll my eyes seeing yet another wesker game.
I enjoy playing against Wesker (and I enjoy playing as him), but when you see him every second match it gets old really quick! Some improvements I would like to see are: - removing a survivors infection once they are hooked (anti-tunnel measure). - preventing the survivor from being suctioned back to the other side of a window/pallet aftet vaulting.
I generally get that Wesker is a lot more fun than many members of the cast. I don't entirely mind him, but here are some complaints I can at least understand about him... First: He has a huge terror radius. At any high-level play, this is a weakness on his side, but on lower levels, this can cause a lot of confusion for many players that can't perceive changes from the 16m to the 32m track. People will get off generators early while he's across the map chasing someone, causing their games with him to go slower. It's a dumb decision, but it's psychology. Plus, some Weskers use the terror radius just for their perk build and don't even bother using his power - which subtracts the amount of skillful plays you see at work. Coulrophobia plus Distressing on him pretty much ends the game immediately. Second: He's short - human size. Given the size of a lot of the loops in the game, that ends up making certain gameplay far more frustrating than you'd think - and it's likely a similar complaint to what people said about Freddy. All in all, not that many of the *short* killers in the game actually move at full speed. As Scott said, ping can add to this perception of the issue, but it means that in a lot of cases, even without power usage, someone's game around one loop can become really frustrating. Third, as Scott said: He is an amazing tunneler. Anyone caught out of position needs to heal in two different ways before they can resume normal gameplay - and, one of those heals will expose their position. Given how often people complain about Legion, it shouldn't be surprising that this slowdown is frustrating to people. Maybe at higher MMR, killers no longer see any point in hard tunneling, but at lower MMR, you're more likely to have at least one baby survivor that makes perfect sense to get tunneled, and 200% perfect sense to get tunneled with Hinder applied to them.
I've hated him since I've seen him 7 out of 10 games since his launch. And the fact he can grab me after i've vaulted thru a window and am running out the otherside just to be magically pulled back in. The best time i've had in DBD since his launch was when he was kill switched!!! :P
I have no issue with his design, but in my own experience, half the Weskers I play against immediately tunnel survivors off the hook. I wish it were an exaggeration but I've watched plenty of them be in a chase across the map then beeline for the hook the moment that survivor is rescued. Clearly it's not a Wesker-specific thing, but I've noticed a higher percentage of Wesker players will do that. (Edited for spelling)
I don't particularly hate Wesker,I'm just tired of killers ignoring my loops and hitting BS hits. Wesker is a prime example of this, behind the wall and somehow he still hits you.. Too many killers have become very anti looping,it's getting stale.. I think we as survivors suffer from lack of content much more than Killers do,we don't receive new content just new skins and useless perks with 1 OP soon to be nerfed perk. MoM,MFT,DS and Dead Hard beign examples. 1 OP perk...the rest useless.. So we're prone to see more similar patterns in Killer's playstyle.
0:42-0:53 is my biggest complaint about Wesker and Wesker players. None of them want to admit this. Every single one of them is up in arms if you say this because he does have his 7 billion techs and they act like they are required in order to get even a 1k as him. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-w5cBJFontZw.html My only real critique with this video is you keep saying "Wesker is too fun and that's why people are playing him so much". But that's not really why. People are playing him because they want to win and as you said he is a strong killer that is easy to play.
I don't hate him because of how much he is played i hate him because I feel like there is no dodging the hit box of his virulent bound though it could just be the result of the hitbox problem already present in dbd.
Wesker is fun, but when 3/5 games is the same killer it can start to get a bit grating, but what really pushes it over the edge is when 1/10 Wesker's you get tunnel off hook and there isn't a lot you can do because of the infection. It doesn't really matter if the last 9 Weskers were nice and fun when the 10th makes you feel helpless, recency bias and all that. I still love him, but I also love RE5 and find a bunch of other killers annoying, so I have my own biases I suppose.
I think having a system with ‘killer avoidance’ similar to the map avoidance they are implementing would be a good idea, but if the number of killers playing is too too low then it would be disabled
I don't mind a Wesker once in a while but when i have 3hrs of time to play DBD after work i would really like to see another killer. Hell after the 3rd Wesker ill even take a Nurse or Blight. Then we have killers I run into maybe once a month (Twins, Trickster, Doctor, Gunslinger) and I have fun no matter the build or outcome because its something different. When Wesker released I straight quit survivor for months because it was nauseating. The solution is quite simple just have a killer rotation list for queue. If you queue into Wesker the next game is anything but Wesker.
My only real complaint with Wesker is when he grabs you and then slams you into oxygen instead of throwing you. Just grabbed out in the open and slammed into the air. I’ve literally never been thrown only air slammed.
They need to change his infection to slow the players gen speed instead of making them move slower. Then I think Wesker would be in a REALLY good spot. I think the same thing needs to happen to skull merchant where her drones don't expose you but make you do gens slower.
My only complaint about Wesker is the bug(?) he's had for months now where instead of hitting people vaulting a window he just grabs them and yoinks them back to the other side, otherwise I genuinely love him even despite playing against him so often.
My biggest complaint with Wesker is honestly just the fucking 40m terror radius. I wish he just had a lullaby. I'm so tired of every Wesker I go against running Distressing and Coulro or Plaything and Pentimento or whatever.
Especially during the event the servers were so shit that I’d get grabbed after I vaulted a window. Killer had pretty minimal lag while I was at 60-70ping
People are complaining about seeing Wesker too much but they fail to realize if we weren't seeing all these Weskers they would likely be playing Blight, or Spirit, or Nurse. At least Wesker has counterplay.
There has been an issue on him where on his screen, when you don't use the second dash, there is a 3 second cooldown before you can hit. BUT, from the survivor's perspective, the animation is only 1 second, and it appears he holds his power for 3 seconds (1 sec base + 2 for the cooldown animation). This throws survivors off on when they can run or dodge, especially when the Egg add-on exists. It's been there since he came out, and I have been trying to point it out. No other killer has uneven cooldown animation based on your role like that. Video showing this: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-S70tc_Hm78Q.html But besides the times where you get grabbed when it's very clearly a dodge, he is pretty fun.
