One of the writers (Amanda Overton) shared a tweet that they had a little more to that brothel scene where Cait was chatting up that girl. “WOMAN: I have to say, it’s always nice to meet another curious woman. She means hot. She’s laying it on. Caitlyn’s got her primed for secret spilling, but - She notices Vi is gone. Shit. Caitlyn leaves a disappointed woman in her wake.” They cut it because they found they could convey that same feeling with just that shot of Cait and her talking, and they wanted to preserve the surprise of Cait saving Vi’s ass. But… Cait has game. She knows exactly what she’s doing. Goddess of the Hunt, this one. Lol Also just want to appreciate that they let women be buff and get beat up in fights. The Sevika vs Vi fight is just masterful. Real contender for my favorite fight in this series. The timeskip was 6-7 years. Jinx is like 18/19 and Vi/Cait are like 22/23. Jayce, Mel, and Viktor range from 31-33.
"But… Cait has game." Yes with women. With dudes it's "Mah name Matilldah" Jinx is underage in Arcane and that was deliberate. They didn't want Jinx to be sexualized. Which I'm sure she still was but those guys are perverts.
@harryballsak1123 Just looked it up to check my facts and it says she’s anywhere from 17-19. So… *shrug* A teenager regardless. Amanda Overton speculated she starts the show at age 11/12 according to a couple things I read.
@@BGTitanAvatar She's closer to 9 or 10 if anyone has actually raised a child. Once again they specifically didn't want Jinx to be sexualized look it up. If she's 18+ then she's "fair game" for the pervs.
And yeah, Jinx's lair is in an old, failed, or discontinued airflow and ventilation fan for the Undercity (or its mines). Considering how bad the air is down there... It's kinda symbolic. Jinx is a child fed on neglect, at every level.
I appreciate the recaps and the analysis of the show. Even when you pause to project theories and ideas. Reacting to the show is alright, but engaging with it is much more fun..
That concerto scene is quite symbolic. When they show the set from behind, you can see that it is held by ropes. You could say... there are a lot strings attached. Also, the Imagine Dragons' cameo is not the only one in this epsode. The man performing this concerto is Rey Chen - the virtuoso who actually recorded all the incredible violin performances thoughout the show. Also also - there is a term Vi-o-Lin made up by some fans of the show...
Ray Chen also has his own RU-vid channel which you should check out. There are videos where he talks about Arcane and even plays some of the selections.
Marcus sees himself as doing what Grayson did, dealing with an undercity crime lord to keep the peace, he doesn't really see the difference between Vander and Silco because he only knows them through his very narrow lens of 'undercity criminal'. In a very real sense he feels like he's honoring her memory, despite in reality sullying it. Meanwhile Kate only sees the hero and knows nothing about the deals with the undercity Grayson did have. So strangely they both revere her but for the opposite reasons and it leads them in opposite directions.
This show is so full of parallels and comparisons, it's amazing! I hadn't thought about how Silco took Jinx to the river and Vander goom Vi to the bridge, that's so cool! Also, at the opera, the violinist is an animated cameo of Ray Chen, the main violin soloist for the Arcane OST :D Love hearing your thoughts, looking forward to the next one!
"Do we know what Viktor's ailment is? I'm sure the League players, you probably knew." Actually, no, I don't believe his ailment is ever mentioned in the League lore. Not a League player myself, but I have followed a lot of the lore. All I will say is that we could probably guess how his ailment plays into his League character, but outside of a few vague hints in Arcane, I don't believe it's ever given a name.
So much happened in this episode! I get chills when Vi does her parkour run on the rooftops and the fight with Sevika is brutal. Cait is totally the moral heart of the story and the role Grayson played in forming her world view is brilliant writing. When Grayson says "It begs the question young Kiramman, what are you shooting for?" You can see Cait's brow furrow as she contemplates who she wants to be. Love it!
When you finish watching the first season, react to the trailer for the second season and the clip that Riot posted of a spoiler for the second season where Vi appears completely different.
25:36 solitary confinement? She beat up the dude who got shot by Jinx and got arrested. She's in general population, one of my biggest issues with the writing(I don't have many, I love the show, but it ain't perfect). Silco would absolutely know Vi is alive, he's the boss of the entire underworld, not only some of his men would get arrested like in episode 4, like every gang leader he would send members of his gang in the prison, to "take it over". Get people addicted to shimmer in there and recruit them. Very basic gang activity, they'd notice the purple haired chick with VI tattooed on her face and would report it to Silco. But to answer your question, the time jump is 6-7 years. Jinx goes from 11-12 to 17-19.
Yes, maybe. But the question is, would any of his underlings know that she was of any particular importance to Silco? Only a few (still alive) would know any details about what happened in ep. 3, and they wouldn't have any reason to spread that information to others. Everyone thinks she's dead anyway. To fill in on the time jump: Vi goes from around 17 to 24:ish, Jayce from 24 to 30-31. Caitlyn is close to Vi, probably a year younger or so. Mel is difficult to say, older than Jayce, but not too much. Maybe 5 years?
@@demopem yes, a lot of Silco's people would know who Vi is. Vander was a big deal, with him Vi was too. And Silco wouldn't send nobody's to prison to grew is gang, maybe not his most important people, but not randoms or completely newly recruited ones either. So they'd know about Vi.
I agree that Silco would have done everything to confirm that Vi was in fact dead, but the series kind of explains that Marcus was intentionally hiding information from him.

Her name and what she's in for and all that can be faked by Marcus, it doesn't matter. She's in there Marcus is obviously out in the streets, he can't do sh*t to hide her. Silco would send in some of his men intentionally to prison, so it couldn't even be that the system is so corrupt that they never get arrested. It's a plothole, doesn't kill the show at all, but a pretty big issue imo.
