Love your reviews as always, keep up the great job!!! I was involved a bit with the original v3 and also their vu meter box was my idea in a group chat with Fosi. They really are a good company that first asks their community for ideas and then implements them as best they can. I've been into hifi over 30 years, nice to see a company in today's era doing this and hope for an even bigger future for Fosi
I am waiting for the Fosi Hypex amplifier should be out later this year I have too many Fosi components because I like Kickstarter Campaigns Yes, I am doing this Kickstarter…..resistance is futile Nice review
With the switchable gain, choose the lower gain if you can because that will reduce the noise in your system. Your source will need to run louder but the overall noise will be lower.
I watched all of the Day 1 reviews of this product and this review is the best in my opinion. Why? Because this reviewer compared it with the Orchard Audio reference. 💜
Nice. The best I've heard so far are the Sparkos Op Amps in the Geshelli Stuff. I've got the J2S DAC and Archel 3 Pro Amp Stack and it punches way above its price point with the Sparkos Op Amps. AK4499 DAC chip in the J2S btw 👌
Love these monoblocks but I will have to stick to dual ZA3 for now. I've thrown out my TV rack (including TV) and replaced it with a standing desk. My studio DAC only has 4 balanced line-outs, so I downmix 5.1 into quadrophonic and use one pre-out for the sub. Using this setup for music/production first and movies second.
I watches a Zeos video for the first time on a 65" screen. I got such motion sickness lol! I have been sailing on teh roughest of seas and felt nothing. Zeos jumping back and forth lol between DAC's was too much...I will stick to my computer monitor lol
@@boomerscs9193 Your source for this info? NOT saying it is not true. I just need to be sure before ordereing. I emailed Fosi and they have not replied and scouring the available info doesn't specify.
i always enjoy your reviews, i really enjoyed your review of the benchmark abh2, i own the benchmark dac 3b, the benchmark la4 preamp and two abh2's bridged in mono to power my klipsch rf7lll's and it is spectacular to say the least, also coming out of the rca outputs of the la4 preamp into a pair of self powered power sound audio v3600's dual 18's subwoofers, but my main reason i commented here is: how would you compare the sound quality of the fosi v3 monoblocks to the single abh2 in stereo mode you reviewed using just average volume levels? just curious.
Thanks for the review. Looks like better load dependence, but other than that looks like the same performance and power output in comparison to the ZA3.
@@robalex1818 thank you. Can I ask your opinion on power supplies. Would you go for one 48/10A or two 48/5A? What’s the difference? Is it sound quality or watts power from the amp?
Boy, Fosi must be pushing all you reviewers to do these as quick as possible! Question, others say sharing the power supply causes strange noises, have you noticed that? Your guesses price wise was a bit low.
My only issue with Fossi is you are beta testing these for them. They release units, you find an issue and they release a new version fixing that issue. If know this, you know to wait until v2 or v3 comes out. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people who get the early releases or buy the discounted v1 models without knowing this.
I already use the RP600MIIS as near field on my desk by my current amp is am SMSL VMV A1 Class A biased amp. It's quite good to be honest! I ordered a pair and the one PSU is already being corrected to power to amps fine.
@whocares0503 I'm sure it is fine, but I want to go mono blocks with each their own power amps. The idea is, especially with hard panned music. Is when one amp is doing it's own thing, especially if it is working hard compared to the other. It is not drawing power that would be used for the other amp. Each speaker works completely independently and seamlessly with zero cross talk. And I do listen to a fair amount of hard panned music. And also just because I want to, regardless of the difference is huge. And with the price of these Fosi amps, it's cheaper than many stereo options.
Hey, just a quick comment. In another review, the reviewer stated that using just one 48V power supply with the splitter cable plugged into two of the V3 monoblocks resulted in noticeable noise (humming, buzzing, etc). He indicated that this early in production, that it is recommended that you use two separate power supplies, rather than just one with the splitter cable. Makes sense when you think about it. Perhaps, as the V3 monoblocks go into full scale production and are officially announced for sale at various venues, this issue may be fixed - who knows. On another matter - regarding the Op Amps - I originally purchased 6 of these Oracell versions because a year ago, because I was attracted to the very low price of these (running $19.95 to $15.95 depending on where you buy them). They are Chinese-made of course, and are listed as being discrete. I cannot even begin to tell you how disappointed I was in these - especially after using the wonderful discrete versions from Sparkos Labs and Burson. They made music sound dull, and in one case - using them in the older Aiyima A07 - were both dull and "steely" sounding. I finally had to just put them aside, gathering dust, and reinserted my Sparkos Labs versions back into those Class D amps (A07, A07 Max, V3, and ZA3) that I was trying the Oracell's in. Bummer....but as they say, you get what you pay for.
I didn't get any noise with my limited testing on one power brick. I am sure I will be doing way more stuff with these in the future. We had very different experiences with the Op amps it seems.
Bit off topic of nice Fosi monoblocks, but when you said that you hate SMSL showing volume just for a while and then switch back to DAC frequency, how to convince Topping to do the same in preamp mode of DX3 Pro+ DAC? It's so convenient while listening to different high res audio. Was nice to talk to you at Axpona!
Nice Job, Z. I was looking at perhaps doing a monoblock setup for my desktop system. These would have been cool in that capacity, but I decided to go with the Eversolo AMP-F2 instead. For me, that was the right choice. Cleaner and easier than the mono setup and frankly this amp sounds incredible. But these look really good, too. Timing is everything, I guess. Love the floor standers you are using there, bro. Great choice!
Had an Ifi Nano Dac that i was using for about 5 years but it was cutting out once in awhile and i had to unplug and re-plug to get it to GO. Twas a pain. Ended up rolling the dice on the SMSL D-6s. So pleasantly surprised with it. I was worried about it sounding sterile since I have limited (Ifi only) experience with DAC's. Totally pleased with it and thought about adding one to my desktop set up but currently using Zen Dac2 and am utilizing the single ended out headphone out and would miss the headphone jack. May pony up and look into a separate headphone amp for the desktop. Oh wait....this is a Fosi review.....lol. Have 2 V3's.....love them!
I’ve been viewing as many reviews as I can about these Mono’s because I have been saving up for an Anthem 225 V2 to power my Martin Logans F100’s to power through my Onkyo RZ50 for two channel music. (I use for both but more for stereo music)But I wander if I should give these a chance since they are so good and so cheap and can easily handle the 4ohm Load of my ML’s. I guess I’ll check out if they have a good return policy and just buy both and if the difference is very minimal I’ll just keep the Fosi v3 and maybe buy a third for my center channel.
Tweeters use very little power in general (compared with woofers). Gains of bi-amping would probably be negligible. Better approach would be to offload the lower frequencies to a sub, which reduces the burden on both the woofers and the amp driving them.
13:00 ...Well s**t I'm glad I didn't get Tungsten after all and connect it to my V3 then. I've heard a couple of reviewers take issue with the noise floor of the V3 Monos using Fosi's single Y-split 48V/10A power supply, too. Think I'm going to skip this one and look at a pair of Outlaw Audio 2220 monoblocks. 4x the price, but a better quality amplifier & power supply. I appreciate that Fosi is trying, but they're not quite there yet on quality. Hope they keep at it and keep improving.
Two amps into the same speaker? Some speakers allow that - one amp for the high frequencies, and one for the lows. The speakers that allow that have two sets of binding posts . My floor standers have that option. None of my bookshelf speakers do though
@@IAmNotA.12345 On my bookshelf I plugged one amp into the Left and one amp into the right. I don't have enough of an ear to tell if it's any differance but I hypothesize eash channel having it's own amp would be better somehow?
I have a Crown XLS1002 and the Fosi v3's. The Crown seems more powerful but at the expense of details. The Crown misses a lot of detail big and small. It is not a high end product.
I don't think anyone asked for those, they don't seem to do much of anything a ton of other products can do around the same price or cheaper. Of course they are awesome though, because they were free and it sounds like there was an obligation to put up a review. I barely followed any of it by the way, it was all over the place.
I would have loved to spend more time with them but they asked for a date, but people definitely did ask for them. As soon as the V3 came out. "can you monoblock it?" would be great if you could, etc etc
I mean here is the thing. An amp can be warm or harsh or neutral. This is neutral. Then it can be weak or strong. This is strong. If you need something more than that you are going to spend way more OR wait for some magic that I can't categorize into words. The "thing" that is hard to place. The old Loxjie A30 had it. The Orchard Audio stuff has it. Not many others reach those sort of "wow" heights so I usually tell people to just get a competent amp that works in their scenario, which this amp very much is. I can't wax lyrical about ever device's sound signature. Sometimes it is just purely Functionality that is the focus.
13:13 I think you need to start yelling in every video that plugging headphones directly into speaker amps is no longer something you support, it's been your go-to advice for hard-to-drive headphones for quite some time
I have Edifier R2850DB and they sound bad with analog from a DAC, but great with the DAC's digital optical output. I wonder if there is an ADC in the Edifier, converting the analog signal back to digital before the DSP converts to analog a 2nd time??
I mean I try to make money on every review so don't single out this one. I just didn't have much bad to say about them. They are relatively simple and well priced. When something comes along that stinks. You will know it.
hope you can start discussing things direct to the point, after all you listeners are not new to this hobby... just a suggestion... focus on the purpose of the video... just my 2 cents
@@sidraorane7684 i do and this confirms it... showing that he change for the mono vs the za3 but never compared it? come on... others were good and focused on the topic... the sabaj mono review was even better and more focused than this... even if he took time and moved to his home theater area...
I didn't really have enough time for my brain to sort out what I needed to say. Usually it takes a week but I only have the amplifiers for 2 days before this review had to go live. So I'm a bit all over the place
When the V3 came out everyone wanted it to go mono. The ZA3 CAN go mono but this is less stuff, no volume, no 2nd channel to disable. The PURE monoblock life.
@@ZReviews Ok I understand. I find the volume of the ZA3 extremely loud (I reduce the volume with the insoul XDUOO MT-602 tube) and the balance of the base is great. But the sound of these little D-amplifers are really amazing nowadays. PS: I also prefer Emotiva BasX MR1 11.2 for my home theater. A lot of value for the money
Is it so difficult these days to produce a RU-vid review video without throwing in needless swearing? Obviously, it is! This just highlights your lack of class. I dropped in here to see what you thought of the V3 mono's as I have a pair on order. Seems like I've wasted my time. I'm sure I'm probably in the minority for your viewership demographic, so take my feedback for what it's worth.
@@ZReviews all you have to do is put a 5ohm resistor across the output terminals... this version has the built in filters also..... should be a good match for the Tungsten now....
Strange. I was actually trying to be more clear about who would get this and why. All the power and CHEAP. But you need to be OK with controlling the source.
