I have a lot of Majestic authentic on field player jerseys, about 15 to 20, and 3 Rawlings authentic on field jerseys. Pujols 06 WS & inaugural pateches, Howard, Ichiro, Jeter inaugural and WS patches, Mauer, etc... Never bought any of the Nikes as they were way to overpriced. These 2024 jerseys look likee ay knock offs, soo bad...
I loved the Majestic jerseys. They were top notch. Even the thermal undershirts Majestic made were comfortable, warm and they just last. I’ve got a Majestic Tigers jersey and thermal undershirt from when I went to a 2006 World Series Tigers home game. The jersey only gets worn when I go to a game, but the thermal shirt even after almost 18 years gets worn a lot in the fall and winter and it’s still almost damn near perfect. I can’t see anything from Fanatics holding up or lasting that long from regular use. They cut so many corners with manufacturing and materials and sell it for way more than it’s even remotely worth. Their hats, shirts, hoodies and jerseys are garbage. Their hoodies barely last a year without shrinking, threads coming loose, wordmark and logo stitching that warps and looks cheap, and forget about the screen printed garbage they make.
These new jerseys have printed lettering and numbers. I was going to buy a jersey at the last braves game I went to and passed on it because it looks like it won't last. I can see the lettering peeling off after some time. Those old majestic jerseys still look brand new after decades because everything is cotton and swen on.
Why have mlb jersey designs have gotten worse over time? Like the Rays and the D-Backs used to have beautiful jerseys and hat logos, but now they’re muted and dark in color. The Guardians have some of the worst jerseys in baseball they are so bland and uninspired. There needs to be a return to color.
@@battle4truth701 that’s a terrible idea braves is easy to just make brave but Indians you can’t make actually Indian without being insensitive they just should rebrand completely
Monopolies run counter to capitalism. That is why anti-trust laws were created. To keep a free flow of new ideas and to allow for choice to occur. Right now, Fanatics runs everything - baseball cards, jerseys, etc. No one is there to give a viable alternative and say that they have a different or better idea. It is Fanatics or nothing.
Let the teams choose their supplier. It used to be a thing in the NFL before their first exclusive deal with Rebook. Outside the US, teams choosing their jersey brand remains a thing in soccer.
Important thing to point out is that the jerseys weren't actually made by Nike. They were made by Fanatics but licensed by Nike. So basically Fanatics did the labor while Nike gave it their stamp of approval.
Fanatics is the worst thing to happen to sports apparel. Every design they make is shit, the quality is shit, fanatics is just shit. Once the NHL switched from ADIDAS to fanatics, I stopped buying apparel (besides authentic jerseys.) So dumb that leagues are going with them.
I'm sure you modern age baseball fans prefer the all star teams wearing the same jersey but I preferred it far more when they wore their teams jersey. I liked that you knew who they represented and as a fan I loved seeing my favorite teams players on the field representing my team.
That’s the thing, it’s not a low budget material at all. It’s actually way more functional and better for the players in terms of function. The problem is, it just LOOKS cheaper.
@@stevencramsie9172 Its funny you believe in all the bs "technology" they claim go into making these. In what world, do you think they are using more expensive material when they look and feel like shit? Every badge and number is heat pressed vs the prior jersey stitching we/players are used to? MLB/Nike/Fanatics found a way, where they can make these for cheaper and still charge fans even more to make larger profit margins. Rave about "VAPOR PREMIER CHASSIS" (whatever the fuck that means) and they thought we would line up to pay 400 dollars for it. Manfred, Nike and Fanatics suck.
It's harder to recycle material and recycled doesn't mean less quality either. You may recycle your old gym shoes to your little brother bad that's not remotely the same thing.
I don't understand why the MLB logo needs to be lowered? It was fine where it was at. The players named so low and smaller is also a terrible change, The kid in the upper deck wants to be able to read which player is which.
I literally have a 4 year old rip off jersey I got when mookie first became a dodger, the nike jerseys were still new so I’m assuming the china shops didn’t have enough details yet, but In a surprise twist of fate my ripoff now looks like the new authentics 😂 down to the tee everything matches up, the oversized numbers, curved name. It’s kinda weird but hey I can rock my fake comfortably now 💀
Like Paul Lukas at Uni-Watch said: "How many of these players singing the praises of these new jerseys have Nike endorsements?" A lot if not all of them. Find a plyer to say something good about the new uniforms that's not endorsed by Nike. They (Nike) had FOUR YEARS to get this right (they have been using the Majestic template and slapping their Swoosh on it for the last 4 years). This is embarrassing.
I wish that equipment procurement wasn't done through the MLB. It would be so much better for the MLB to set minimum equipment standards and then have the owners go out and strike individual contracts with the companies that suit them best.
I just think ots weord for the jerseys to have the harsh curve to the player names regardless of the length of the name. The fact that Hyun Jin Ryu is going to have a rainbow shape to his last name is absurd.
It's funny because there are some players talking up the new threads but if you look most of those players are Nike athletes signed under the banner, lol. Coincidence? I think not. Let's be honest even they know it's shitty but can't say it. That must suck. Bought yes men.
People aren't just mad because of it being different or changed, but because they're literally worse in almost every way possible (except maybe for the new fabric). Take the dodgers for example, like someone literally had to think "how can we make this look worse?" and deliberately shrunk the text logo so now it's broken up right across the seam. Who thought it was a good idea to move the MLB logo down another couple inches and to shrink the players names so that it will be barely visible on the field? Nike tried to even get the chain-stitching removed from the cardinals logo, but failed due to the pushback from the club. I hope the Phillies are able to keep their chain-stitching, because it has been an iconic look on their jerseys for decades, and separates the higher quality on-field jerseys from all the tackle-twill replicas. Nike really screwed this up big time, and don't be fooled this was purely done as a way to save money and cost on manufacturing. If they actually cared, they would have gotten multiple players inputs (and fans too) for multiple designs and prototypes before settling on a final product, and not delivering something that they should be embarrassed of.
I feel like the lighter the Jersey, the cheaper it looks, the worse it looks but the better the performance. Look at men's cross country, I actually ran back in high school and we wore these short as hell shorts that people's underwear hung out of basically due to them being lighter and improving running times slightly. I think they are great for players performance, and they should and probably will be kept around, I just hope team stores still sell thicker heavy duty jerseys for fans, so they don't wear out quickly
Nike is cutting $2 billion in costs over the next three years. This is going to be happening with everything they touch. If thought their quality was bad before its only going to get worse.
Its like when Wal-Mart started changing all their cargo pants to that stretch-fit material. It was just code for cheap shit. I bet players are going to go through more jerseys after dives and slides. We'll see though😂
Not a fan of the look, but I'm a sweaty bastard so if they are more comfortable, lighter and cooler then why not. Comfort is always more important than looks.
Could the smaller letters on the back be accommodating to all the hyphenated last names and endless jr's, IIs, IIIs, they're anticipating? If that's the concern, just have numbers only on the backs.
I’m a big guy and Baseball Jerseys are something big people can wear comfortably. But the new ones are probably more snug fitting from the looks of them
Fanatics produce the Jerseys now, They bought a production deal from Nike, nike is licensing the swoosh to Fanatics and Fanatics are making them not Nike. plus, they 3 versions of the jersey they make now are the game day version, known as the replica is now screen printed, and the limited is like the replica from last year but with all the markings Heat pressed with fake stitching. The authentic stitched is using smaller names and numbers this year as well. ever since nike got the contract to make the Jerseys from MLB, they were using the same materiel and template as majestic, but now this is there new template and they outsourced production to Fanatics who's quality is questionable at best. This sucks for jersey collectors. Best bet if you like authentic jerseys is try to buy game used ones from the team store or stadium. they will be last years kit but built way better. I wish I woulda got a Ohtani dodger jersey before they changed it. all the people who ordered one when he signed got last years model but once the restock is back it will be the 2024 version.
Thanks to fanatics/ Nike producing this mess probably through DH gate factory contracts. The colors will fade after 2 washes, and the letters and numbers will fall apart after 5.
I think a jersey that fans are gonna love aren’t actually the best to play in. Like that blue jays video compared the blue jay and how it’s multi-layered embroidered and thick and nice in the older jerseys. Where the new ones are flat. I don’t necessarily think a large thick embroidered patch is best to play with, but makes a nice fashion jersey
So now baseball fans are fashionistas, lol. When I was in the Army there were two different types of BDU - cold weather and summer. Cold weather were heavy cotton and summer were a much lighter fabric, almost paper like in comparison. Which was "nicer"? The cold weather. Which was more comforatable on a summer day in Texas? The summer. Maybe baseball fans need a fashion idol the way the NFL has a music idol in Taylor Swift.
It’s obvious that Fanatics/Nike is using the name arches from NBA jerseys for these new MLB jerseys. That arch is necessary for a tank top, but looks stupid on an MLB jersey with sleeves like in baseball.
I love how every player who put out statements on how great the jerseys are- are sponsored by Nike lol Acuna is the new face of Nike. Jansen has a deal with fanatics. Trout and Heyward are also sponsored by Nike. I'm sure they are giving their honest opinions on the jerseys and weren't just contacted by Nike/fanatics to put out some PR videos. 🤔
My opinion is that it's pretty much irrelevant because I can't afford one either way. "Should I skip my rent payment this month to buy some official swag from my team?" seems to be the way they're pushing things. Who cares what it looks like when it's out of reach anyway? But also, yeah, they look like the bad renderings on a website where you can 'customize your product.'
Dear Nike. This may be news to you but, players sweat no matter what you put on them. It is unnecessary to reinvent the wheel to make them 28% quicker to dry. Not one player will notice the difference in the moisture but, they will notice the garbage look.
There is something we (as fans) can do: don't buy them. I'll hold my judgement on their quality until I see them in person. I do know that if these are as taylored as they seem to be, I'm not sure I (who wears XXL) will be buying one.
when there's so much focus on "the jersey itself" you can tell Nike was just trying to get some PR out of the situation (at the all star game). if you have to convince everyone your new product "is awesome", it's probably not. i bought a Nike Max Scherzer after he left the Mets for the lulz and the quality is so trash compared to my Felix Hernandez Majestic. it feels very synthetic. When I was still playing college/travel back in the BESR days, we used to wear double knit uni's in 110 degree weather playing two double headers in two days in E.Wa. gimme a break for this "breatheable material helps you perform better". they're just cutting cost while charging more.
Jerseys looks like if nike ordered a bunch of bootleg jerseys for 30 bucks just to resell them for over 200 bucks. This is straight up corporate greed to to maximize their profits by using cheaper material. Majestic made the best jerseys even the replica jerseys look better then the Nike aka fanatics jersey
Regardless what the MLB players think, they probably aren’t wearing them to the store, school, or anywhere outside of the game. Give fans stylish jerseys.
Mikolas, pretty amazing stache, cool name, sub-par take... like really lukewarm kind of take, when I heard Adley talk about vented numbers I was actually hype for the players.
worst thing ever is the "authentic" jerseys from last year with the massive extra length to them. People look like they are wearing a dress with those on. LAME!!
Tbh, the dodgers jerseys look fine. It doesn’t seem too different from the years before. It seems like these jerseys have a different effect with different teams. The mariners example, looks terrible. That change was way too big and the MLB logo just looks weird and off.
Disagree.. the new Dodgers jersey looks terrible. The white is not the correct white (it's not more of an off white or pink). Also the letters on the front are not lined up correctly and the d gets split.. looks really bad. It was so clean before.
"Looks cheap" Surely the price is going to also be cheap, so I can finally afford a Baseball jersey without having to blow a hole on my wallet price wise?? 😊
If something looks dumb, it looks dumb. It isn't just change that we don't like. It's the change to something ugly and cheap looking. Trying to reinvent the wheel just for the sake of change is just irritating.
