Reminds me of that manga about the girl who can read minds, learned to block out other peoples thoughts of indifference or hatred towards her, but then her neighbor classmate is _so_ fucking into her that she can't ignore his positive thoughts. Their actual interactions are super mild but bros brain is on overdrive.

I don't remember just how many time I rewatched this anime. It's not really great anime but the interaction between Kotoura-san and Manabe is hilarious. He's the one who's able to cheer up Kotoura-san after all the shit she went through. She's so precious yet she don't deserve all the hate.

Not gonna lie, episode 1 is literally so dark, until she met Manabe

I remember loving this anime when it first came out. Then started wondering how people can hate someone for telling them the truth. 🤨

FUN fact: the male mc of this anime, Manabe, is voiced by the same va as Kazuma from Konosuba. Its such a great anime

This is actually the first ever anime i've watched! I only watched anime back then to fit in with my friends tho but actually liked this one and eventually grew to like others too. Kotoura san may not be my favorite but it still holds lots of memories for me!!

One thing that I've never forgotten was when, toward the end of my sixth grade year, we took a trip to the middle schools we were going to attend. The cars were driven by teachers and student parents (it was a different time) and I was in a car with some girl I don't remember anymore who was attending a different middle school from me, and she said "I'm glad I won't have to be around you any more." in a very casual tone of voice, like she was commenting on the color of the building's roof or something. It's a very desolate feeling learning as a child that no one actually likes you. Fortunately, I did end up with a small friend group that stuck together through high school, and even for a while after.

I love this anime like it was because it was her fault at the beggining of why her parents divorced because she has these powers she didn't just try to keep it to herself and so she just blurts out what she reads inside of her parents minds.

This anime is the one I watch when I'm in a bad mood. It's relaxing and hit your feelings when it did. Just beware that the some of the humours are there for fanservice sake. But other than that, I recommend this a watch. I just wish the series continue and get another season.

The first episode showed the downside of being able to read minds and the consequences of a child using them. It wasn’t until Manabe used it to his benefit and having perverse thought to mess with her did it actually help her become a more positive person and appreciate the gift she was given.

Kotoura-san actually cought me off-guard when I first watched it. And everytime I come across it while going through my anime lists I get minor war-flashbacks xD And tough it is a good anime with a good load of comedy it has some deep/dark moments... One might say it gets "too real" sometimes.

This anime's first episode was on thr level of the beginning of Up. It its you so hard that by the end all color has been drained away... ... until she reads his mind and sees the wildest, silliest shit and the grey shatters into color. SUCH a good visual, and lead in to how this show is actually a fun romcom. ... Well, until the last arc reminds us how serious this show can get. But it is quite fun regardless.

Manabe's Someone who lacks what We call Personal Space and being too intrusive to the point of annoyance than makes You want to hand smack the back of His head in order to cool him down. Still, He is the One who helped Kotoura the most to open Her heart and regain Her trust in People.

I remember this anime, it was so long ago holy shite.

Making me remember the part that isn’t shown here but is the reason she’s screaming in the one clip near the beginning… I believe it’s after all the other stuff happened (Parents Divorcing and Mom abandoning her with her Grandpa) She finds a little kitten in a box and holds it up remarking that she can’t hear it’s thoughts at all…so you think she’s found a little sliver of happiness to keep her going and things will get better… …only for her to come back on a different day and find the kitten is gone and a lady walks up and says she sent the kitty to the shelter cuz she didn’t want this random girl to keep showing up in front of her house…which leads to the shown scene of Kotoura breaking down and screaming in anguish in the rain 😭 Personally wondered why she didn’t just take the cat home when she first found it…but I imagine the author would still have found a way for things to end tragically anyway But yeah, I enjoyed this series and would recommend giving it a watch ❤❤❤

Unpopular opinion: loved this anime. Even tho it’s in my “Weird anime’s I watched in middle school” list, I still loved it.

Watched 3 episodes right after watching this and this show is a TRIP. If you can ignore the… jokes. The characters really shine and the pacing is much faster than most shows these days which imo is refreshing. Episode 3 felt like it could’ve been a season finale lol. There is so much I like about this show but maybe I am just a sucker for stories that hit so close to home (self hatred) because I love stories where I can just attach myself to one or many characters.
