I wish I knew how long you guys are going to be there. As a boy I used to go to the railroad bridge just up the river from the jetty and spend my mornings gathering fiddler crabs to fish for huge sheepshead and black drum. Some of the most wonderful days of my young life. ( somewhere around 1972). Enjoy your time there together!

Hey Brad, "Clearwater Will" here! Now you're fishing my language! This time a year Snook are stacked up by the thousands on every jetty on the southern half of Florida on both coasts for the spawn! And they are mostly big females!Which is why the season is closed during the summer! We rarely keep any anyway, but catch and release is a blast! I've fished for jetty Snook in the Summer every year since I was about 10 (1974) and I'm always happy to share some things it took years to perfect, but some things just have to be learned the hard way. I know I did! *Sure, you can use lighter tackle and catch Snook and Tarpon, BUT when the bite REALLY turns on, you will have much less stress and catch a lot more fish with 20lb test & 40lb floro! *When a Snook picks up your bait, many times you won't feel anything, but you'll suddenly notice your slack is ripping to the left or right! Try to let him pull out the slack, instead of reeling it out. The reason is if you reel, many times the first thing you'll feel is a rock, whereas the Snook will swim your slack over that rock! * Jetty fishing is much harder from the jetty than from a boat, because they will pick up your bait and run right at you! Good luck getting hook in him when that happens! * Lastly, the absolute BEST way to Snook fish a jetty is with a boat, double anchored so one side is about 60' from the dry rocks. Fish an hour before, to an hour after the first tide change after midnight! Bring A LOT of large Pilchards or Grunts/Pigfish. My favorite tide change is, in to out. But it really doesn't matter. When the tide goes dead, so does the bite, but it usually picks back up with the tide. This time of year, Snook love to feed late at night! Sorry for the long post, but If I helped one person land their first Snook, it was worth it!!!

20lb Power Pro, 20lb flouro leader... minimum for Snook, or Tarpon off the Jetties, in my experience. Don't care if the 8" Snapper shy away. I'll downsize for Snapper, but rather just let the Grandkids catch them... I want bigguns! Great video Brother!

the lowest i use inshore for snook is 30lb. Even the small ones will fray through it sometimes. Matters where yah hook them. In the spillways in florida i use 50lb because of the rocky bottom in some of them and debris from people

GO VOLS! Sorry about the lack of a snook or tarpon. My second ever cast at Sebastian Inlet (jetty pier), I hooked a giant snook, got him up to the jetty, broke off, everyone on the pier saw it and went OH! I think I was only using like 14lb mono leader, I was still learning what leader/main line/rod/reel combo is best, valuable lesson. I have been back there several times since, and no snook. Wasn't meant to be. Folks up here in BOC who used to live down there near Jupiter tell me that is a crazy productive inlet.

@@mrcbreakable3092 I've landed some on 30#, too, but I won't lose another one. Unless I'm wading and around juveniles, I like to use #40. That's a slooooow reel when you lose a snook to a frayed leader.
