OK! I must tell you a story…. I am a thrifter (for me, not for resale!) and I started going to a couple of antique malls last year and discovered some of their pricing is as good as thrifting (VV has gotten so expensive). One is in Woodstock (huge) and the other is Freelton! Last November I took my mother to the Freelton Antique Mall and saw a pretty lady all decked out in a ‘40’s look. I pointed her out to my mother and said “I wish I had the courage to dress like that.” Now I realize it was you that I saw!!! You look great, keep it up.
Hahah what are the odds !!! Thats so funny! And thats very kind of you to say, however you can totally dress in 1940s clothes! I agree tho, VV has gone crazy with their prices! its so frustrating because they get all their items for free. But its the only thrift store chain in my area so I don't have a choice. I still prefer to shop secondhand over the mall, the quality of the pieces I buy is better 😂 and also the clothes are cuter
I get so happy when you post a new video but I try to wait several days before I watch because I want to save it for as long as I can because I know it will be another week before you post. You are such a breath of fresh air. Absolutely lovely
Amazing finds! These all look like vintage shop purchases, rather than thrift store deals. Super cute and you make them look very retro with your styling.
The crocheted hat on you looked so cute ! 💓🙏🏼 I think anything you wear will look good and vintage because of the way that you style your hair and your makeup 🥰💓😍
Actually Carolina, per what you say at about 2:55 about being unsure about whether your or not your skirt compliments the blazer you're trying on right then, I say that the skirt and the blouse do go well with not only that one but all of the blazers and sweaters you show us in this video. The cream color of both together creates a sort of base that compliments the colors of everything else quite well.
Your so much prettier than a super model! I really like the red and purple sweaters on you and I glad you found a pretty scarf from London even though you had to come home to find it! lol 😊
I really like the 20S style new flapper dresses at the Wardrobe Shop in Portland! Yes, they are more expensive, certainly to send them all the way to the Netherlands, but I love the style so much; they wear so light and comfortable in the two layers and the embroidery on them is beautiful! ❤😊
aww it's cute with the grey scarf on the head, but also, if you wanted to wear it around your neck, you could just pin it with a cute brooch closer under your chin
That burgundy hat is adorable! It compliments your hair and your lipstick so well!! Also crazy you found that scarf at the thrift store, must be a sign!! :)
Thank you so much !!! It's such a beautiful hat, I just have to style my hair properly to wear it. Ah its so funny because I didn't even notice when I picked it up, I saw the brand as I was checking out
The colours and fashion style of the zodiac sign is very accurate in my case, it's worth a try. You already said it right - it's a twist lock ( I googled it ). Really great finds. All of them.
Is it ?? Thank you !! I've never seen that on a woman's blazer before, or at least I haven't come across one in my size where I would've tried it on. it's quite comfortable for day to day wear.
My favorite piece was the last sweater. It reminds me of the Laura Ashley sweaters from the late 80s and early 90s. I know what you are talking about on the knitted cap. Curling it up definitely makes it more 1930ish. There is this movie called Kit Kittredge that is set in 1930s. The little girl in the movie wears a knitted cap like that. I like the way they styled the cap for the character so maybe refer to that movie to know how to style it. You’ll have to probably train yourself how to style the cap.
Thank you ! I've been really into those sweaters with that style of print this year. They are so classic and have been worn in basically every decade! I always see them in the mens section but the ones in the women section are always weird colours and the fit is all wrong. Yess it does look better curled up to the side, but I still have to play around with it, but I'm always up for the challenge. Hmm I've never heard of that movie I'll have to look it up!
Carolina you bad girl, you definitely said last year that you would not be buying lots of new clothes! 😂 I really think you look lovely in the two knitted hats,( I prefer these to the head scarves) and red is definitely your colour darling ❤ happy new year to you and your family xxx
*hiding my face in shame* YES I know!! BUT some of these items were bought after Christmas (before the new year).... and some before January 6th (Official last day of Christmas) SO I am giving myself a pass LOL 😂 . Thank you so much !! I'm excited to style the hats !
Love the colors the green hat I don't know if maybe you turned it up on one side and put a brooch on and kind of put it off to the side bit maybe that might help
The scarf-turned-bonnet thing, love it! If I saw you somewhere in public I'd be staring at you the whole time feeling in awe and envious of your looks. You'd probly be thinking "why is this woman staring at me? She thinks i look weird...?" And the answer is No! I'm admiring! ❤️ Heeheeehee
Hear me out, cut the top off the green hat, sew the ends so they don’t unravel, and wear it as a winter headband (kind of like what you did with the leaf pattern one!) I know everyone is afraid to cut and upcycle knittted stuff but I’ve done it a lot and had things hold up just fine :)
What a fabulous haul!!! I loved your rational regarding the end of the year and it not being 2024.......well, kinda!!! lol. Wonderful finds. Happy New Year to you. Sending warm regards from the Yarra Valley, Australia.
The knit scarf turned headwear WAS a stroke of genius! Haha. That seems like it would keep your ears nice and toasty. ☺️ The hat and scarf set are adorable. I think the sideways way you styled it is pretty accurate and flattering. When I wear a slouchy hat like that, I kinda feel like a 2010s hipster too, haha. I do have some pictures from the 1930s of that hat and scarf style, but I'm not sure how to send them to you. Let me know if you're interested!
Thank you haha !!! I felt a bit silly trying it on like that at the thrift store 😂 But I do like the way it looks. I agree I think it does have a bit more of a 1930s look when its curled to the side. Haha its not even slouchy, its pretty small, but when I put it on the back of my head I do look like a 2010 hipster 😂
I totally agree! When you flipped up the one side of the hat it took on a more vintage style...if you can add a broach or feathers, etc either to the flipped portion or on the opposite side (like the "flapper hat" you showed) it may give even more of the illusion you want. Just an idea!
You know how you can do these tests to determine which colour type you are (spring, summer, autumn or winter)? You seem to be all, I mean, all colours suit you so well! And that patterned knit might be called Fair Isle, but correct me if I'm wrong. Such a good haul!
Hahah yess ! I can never figure out which season I am because I fit into more than one (and some shades in those seasons don't work for me). I do know I look better in muted / dusty tones. I can't wear bright colours or neons, Dark brown looks better on me than black. And I cant wear high contrast prints near my face, actually I have to be careful with prints in general. Also rounded collars look better on me, but I think thats because of my face shape haha (my jaw is wider so V necks accentuate that. Oooh you might be right ! It might be Fair Isle. I quickly looked up the difference and its more complicated than I thought so I might have to do some research so that I know for next time.
