That's right ,I am living in a camper ...If someone wants to fix my Roof over $20 thousand ..then I can move back in ,I had 2 deaths with end a few months I got vet bill out the butt ..The feed bill is $200 or more a week ...Got to save where I can ...God will see us thru this...

Growing up, my mom wrapped all her meat that she froze,( we had an upright freezer in the basement under the stairs) in that freezer paper with freezer tape! ( looked like masking tape, but for the freezer) She wrote the contents and the date on the paper! That brought back memories! I'm so glad that you can now let these negative comments roll off your back and not let them bother you or stress you out! I'm so proud of you! God Bless!

Tessie, I am beyond convinced you would make fabulous Home Economics teacher. I love all the jars! What a find. I agree with you about needing to learn alternate ways of preserving, cooking, etc. The comment you received was incredibly rude and uncalled for; why people feel the need to be so mean escapes me. You're doing what makes you happy and is what you love, and by living the wonderful life you want to live, you're teaching a lot of us the skills we need in case that day you referred to comes. I really like those kind of jars for storage. I've never used them for canning. Most people don't know the USDA has had their funding cut to the point that they have not tested any new recipes in some time. Just because the government doesn't say its okay does not mean it isn't. I just use common sense on things I put up.

I’m 76 and I’m right there with you on the pioneer lifestyle! Interesting how this person told you to get a real life. First of all what qualifications does she have to dictate what a real life is? Secondly the life she apparently wants you to live is so far from how we were designed to live that it being called real makes me laugh!! Your lifestyle brings peace and contentment with a connection with our creator that I can’t imagine anyone desiring the hustle and bustle that our modern lives bring along with the stress and anxiety it can bring. If being caught up in possessions, large homes, where no one is home all day, and eating fast food without any connection to the land is real then I’ll take unreal any day!! Keep on keeping on Tessie with your pioneer spirit and willingness to share it with us.

Hi, Tessie, I save water bottles as well. Fill them with water and keep them in a basement, in case there is no water. It never happened in the 20 years, that we lived here. I just feel better this way. I change the water every now and then.

Such a great thrifty thursday! I love the jars, baskets and that sweet little braided rug. My Great Grandmother made huge braided rugs. She would get old blankets and wool coats and cut the strips and dye them to whatever color she wanted. It was quite the process. Love the Wellness Homesteader too!

It's rare for me to find very large Vintage Jars at the thrift store. What a GREAT FIND you have! I have 1 Blue Vintage Jar (no lid) and a couple of clear small jars. I use them for dry storage items and love the "primitive" look, it's beautiful!

I’m not certain what is wrong with watching Little House on the Prairie or the Walton ‘s when you get older, but I love those shows and I am 61. I don’t care if others like my life style or not. I am going to continue gardening, canning, dehydrating, freezing, cooking from scratch and making homemade soap. The time may come when those that turn their noses up at our way of living now will find themselves begging for us to teach them how to survive. I probably won’t say I told you so out loud when that time comes, but I sure will be thinking it Lol!

OMW!!! You have a "REAL" life!!! I prefer your style of living than having a fancy stove, refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, or any appliances that won't work when the power is out. I don't like wood stoves, but at least you can cook on them. My uncle and aunt lived in a small house with 5 kids. No bathroom, just an outhouse. They had an old hand pump to get their water. I love the baskets. I think the stuff you got was a great investment for you. Take care ❤

Tessie, I was raised on a farm until I was 27, then I got married November 30th 1996, I moved to the city, where I have lived for 27 years, married this year, I'm 54 this year and I waterbath can and taught myself watching several you tube pressuer canning 3 years, I freeze, dehydrate foods and herb, I grow and friends, family members ask me whyI do it and still do it many people, just don't get the farm lifestyle it's in my DNA and I won't change plus I know what I'm eating, and I make my own medicine, living a healthy lifestyle that many don't want to do 😊

In regard to the jars without the rubber seal: I had a few like that and I got out my hot glue gun. I put the glue around the "mouth" of the jar and let it cool before closing the lid. Instant seal! Works fine for dry goods. Have a blessed day everyone!

I make my fermented cabbage in these jars. You need a big plate or bowl under them in the first days as fermenting causes juice bubbling out.

@@HomesteadTessie oh Tessie where I live there isn't any issue. But I was having the 'manflue' LOL and after that there was plenty of things to do and not only at my home... but kids. It seems that sometimes they are having harder times than a man who suffers from the manflue hahaha.

I am trying to cut down on plastic use too. Those are nice jars, definitely a good find. Oh my some people are so rude. I was always taught that if you don’t have anything good to say don’t say anything at all. I love Little House On The Prairie, . I also love The Waltons. I ALWAYS will.
