heres a suggestion: Ella Enchanted. There is an actual murder and its a much more unique adaptation of cinderella. and it has Anne Hathaway and a cool book.
Can we just appreciate the fact that there was no love triangle grossness stuff going on between Cinderella and her MALE best friend? It was a completely platonic relationship and neither of them were gay. And that's saying a lot from me, the gayest person I know. For some reason, these days, if a guy and a girl are best friends in a film, one or both parties end up falling for the other. The only time this doesn't happen is if one of them is gay. And even then, the story falls into an unrequited love story vomit inducing thing (ex: The No Kiss List). A straight guy and a straight girl can totally be best friends without romantic or sexual attraction, and I wish it were portrayed more often on tv. I may not have been the biggest fan of this film, but I loved that specific portrayal ♥️
Well, x and y can't just be friends is everywhere! It is so annoying. Two boys, obviously straight, Fujoshis: " Two men can't just be friends with each other!"
To be honest, this isn't better. Her male best friend isn't conventionally handsome. So, they only give a girl a male friend if they're: love interest #2, gay, or "ugly".
Given that my wife wanted to watch this the other night, it’s still kinda fresh in my mind, I think I can answer the reason why he doesn’t recognize her. It’s bc when he sees her in every day life, he’s just seeing another person. He’s not focusing on her eyes, lips, nose etc which is why he can’t recognize the features. He’s only looking at her and not actually seeing her.
Dylan: I knew the dad was gonna die, he's too good Everyone else: Its a movie... based on Cinderella... the story of a girl... who lives with her evil stepfamily... because the dad died
@@LouisaMarit I don't know if you can say the "original" there are 100s of versions from all over the world we have no way of knowing which came first.
@@JaneDoeSignedHancock I just meant the original German version. Since by now there are many variations of "Aschenputtel" (German name of Cinderella) as well - movies and less cruel written versions
Actually, in some other variations of Cinderella the Father doesn't die and blames Cinderella for intervening with his marriage to his new wife. The more you know...
@@ixigul legit. I didn't know what to wear to my first semi-formal dance and ended up with a really old fashioned evening gown from a friend's dress up box. We had almost the exact same dress as a costume in the drama room. It was not a fun dance for me.
"nobody knows? Nobody recognizes her because she had a stupid mask on?" *oh boy oh boy let me introduce you to the triumphs and defeats, the epic highs and lows of every superhero movie ever*
Yes. Women’s clothes have pockets... even wedding dresses. Not every piece of clothing has pockets but a lot. Besides that’s why there’re hidden bags, mini purses and all kind of things to carry your stuff besides your shoes.
Women have more shape to their clothes. I have seen a lot of baggy hoodies and jeans with "man" pockets and they're ugly and no woman i know wears them. Only like police officers and builders who happen to be women wear them
14:42 “Aw that was good” “Am I enjoying this movie what the fuck” 😂 “Aw no awww no this was suppose to be a hate watch” 😂 “I messed up I messed around and fell in love with a movie “ Haha this had me laughing so hard 😂😂😂😂.
when it's actually apart of the main plot which relies on him not discovering who she is. That's like being stressed about Ariel giving away her voice... the whole movie
I honestly think that Howard from BBT actually recognised her, like the way he acted around her and called her milady. I've always been convinced he knew.
Also, in the original story her dad doesn't die - just a Disney idea. (But then again the original has a whole thing with the ball being three nights, with three dresses. And her mother's grave has a tree and a bird. And of course no fairy godmother.)
Those plot points are true of the Brothers Grimm version from 1812, but there are actually earlier versions of the story. The Disney movie is based on the French version from 1697 by Charles Perrault, in which she does have a fairy godmother, etc. However, I believe her father is also alive in the French one, as in the Grimm Brothers version you mentioned.
I came here to tell you that there is an animated series of Cinderella in anime-like style ( Italian-Japanese 1996 anime television series, I looked it up), where the father doesn't die I believe, but the amount of replies implying that dad doesn't die in every plot made me laugh I'm sorry 😂😂 I'm not that original I guess.
the fact dylan called chad “the one tree hill dude” shows how cultured he is. wow. a man with taste. (also he stans the oc what else would i want from a man)
@@StephanieOplingerpretty sure he mentioned reading some of the messages on the phone, including one about "cleaning the fryer" or something like that, I've yet to see a phone that reveals personal messages without also allowing access to contacts.
I love how Dylan was so proud when he called the plot points with the stepmother and the dad dying, as if this is isn't a classic fairytale where this happens every time.
Yikes...that awkward, horrific moment at 15:10 Wow. That's heavy, man. Poor Ryan. Seriously. It's amazing to me that a movie made not that long ago made light of literal sexual abuse on minors, just because it was a female abuser. That moment, as a sexual abuse survivor myself, made me feel icky.
Agree. I'm really sorry for you. I like to think we are calling this kind of stuff out, better late than never, I guess. 2004 was a different time. Movies were wilding.
Robin Blossom Into the woods is probably the only "retelling" that doesn't include that plot feature. I wasn't a huge fan of that movie, but I appreciate it for what it was.
Not all men are obsessed with Cinderella... just sayin’! I’m a 24 year old male and I didn’t remember the plot details of a Disney animation I saw about 20 years ago.
Dylan: "Do you not have pockets?" Me: "You see lots of women's clothing does not, in fact, contain pockets. Especially in 2004. Why do you think we get purses? They have the pockets we don't." Also money near the heart is money safe.
Me, remembering that time I wore a whole ass wedding dress to school for Halloween in 6th grade. I fit my aunts dress as a 5th grader, and they were already divorced so she gave it to me lmao. It was my last day at that school system before moving too. The drama of 6th grade me is impeccable
Lucy Hale is the best Cinderella, then Sofia Carson, then Ashlee Hewitt. There are 7 different Cinderella Story movies, but those are the top 3. This one that he reviews in this video isn't even in the top 5 for me.
@@frozenfantasy2458 Well, there's a reason they are called opinions. I'd love to watch a Cinderella Story starring Victoria Justice. But definitely not by Disney or Nickelodeon. She's a more mature woman already, so if they can find good writers, she can work with them and develop a protagonist that resembles her. I don't care if it's rated M, they can use explicit language, have sexually explicit scenes, doesn't matter as long as it's realistic and is made to portray the same passion as the other Cinderella Stories. DJ Cinderella wasn't bad either.
There are way more than 7 Cinderella movies. Cinderella plot line is one of the oldest plots. There are Hundreds of books, poems and movies based on cinderella.
You know that if you cover the places just around your eyes nobody can tell who you are? It scientifically proven by all Disney channel Cinderella movies.
Him: " Same voice, same hair, same eyes, same body... She just had one little mask on" Me: THIS IS EXACTLY HOW THE MIRACULOUS LADYBUG FANS FEEL!!! I understand your pain sir
Dylan: My masculinity is fragile. I can't be caught watching that shit (referring to 'A Cinderella Story') Also Dylan: Posts himself watching 'A Cinderella Story' online.
in some of the comics clark kent said, to the public, that he was superman, and no one belived him. It's cause he was a famous reporter, and the citizens can only see them as two seperate people. idk i read about it somewhere.
I'm rewatching this at 2am, Dylan's videos help me so much when i'm down...i wish he would know that, that he brings me laugh and joy when i need it the most. I'm sure im not the only one struggling at these hard times but i just think that we should be thankful that there are people like him that give us light when its needed, so even if he wont read it, i wanted to say Thank You Dylan and i know others want to too.
"My masculinity is fragile" says the guy who's comfortable watching movies like this online and admitting when he enjoys them. I think you're the very definition of comfortable with your masculinity lol
“One tree hill!” “They know u exist u are in Lizzie McGuire.” “Be friends wiv him he’s gonna be in Big Bang theory!” This guy and his references 😂😂 Edit: Holy Shit I didn’t think I’d ever get this many likes😝
"You're telling me nobody recognized her because of her mask?" Sir, here is 2020-2021 we have proven that nobody is recognizable with a mask. Without if you only know the person with a mask lmao.
You know that the actress that played the stepmom also played Elle Woods' friend in "Legally Blonde", right? I always enjoy your movie reactions Dylan, your remarks are hilarious.
Creepy Fact: Hilary was 15 and Chad Michael Murray was 22 when filming A Cinderella Story. To get them comfortable with each other, and to build chemistry, the director put them in a room alone together and told them to make out until they are tired of it.... I wholeheartedly thanked my mom for not pushing me to pursue my acting dreams as a child. It’s honestly fucked up the kinds of things Hollywood gets away with, that no one ever talks about...
I just laugh so much at your comedy commentary. It’s hilarious 😂 Been watching these types of videos from your channel and honestly I had to subscribe. It’s really fun!
Dylan: my masculinity is kinda fragile, i can't be caught watching that shit" also Dylan: **upload a bunch of vids of him loving chick flicks** also also Dylan: **Episodes and Love Island**
I thought you would catch this, but when she was telling him off she said, “waiting for you is like waiting for rain in this drought.” And then as soon as he quits the game and goes to her it starts raining. 🤯
