Everyone's reaction to Atreus freeing the GIANT WOLF (Garm)- God of War Ragnarok

Well considering what Garm is capable and how insanely hard it is to stop him it makes sense Mimir loses it. It is a massive fuckup and one that is not easily fixed. They were Lucky Atreus actually had the means to put a stop to Garm

Even Ratatoskr drops his politeness and has a “brusque” tone.

I mean he did release a monster that can’t be killed due to not having a soul and will destroy their realms killing them all

Garm is no small deal. In Norse Mythology Garm is one of the most feared creatures in all the Nine Realms. A giant unkillable wolf that even the likes of Odin and Thor are weary of.

Yeah also Kratos knew Atreus was just trying to help and do the right thing, unlike himself who was just trying to reach the goal and didn't give a crap who he screwed over in the process

He knew he was unleashing unspeakable horrors with each God he slew but it didn't stop him in the slightest he just kept cutting them down. Atreus at least was trying to help from the very start.

Kratos is always on Atreus side no matter what. I like how he said "leave him" when everyone was piling on. He's a great father and understands.

I thought the wolf was Fenrir from the future when I met Garm

I thought that was Fenrir because I thought in Norse Mythology Fenrir became so feared the gods had to chain him, which lead to Tyr losing his hand.

It was Fenrir who eats Tyr's hands, but in this game it's Garm, and fenrir doesn't even exist

Kratos knows about screwing up big time. Fortunately, unlike those other times, he and Atreus have the power to fix it.

Not even Kratos knew what Garm was, yet knowing his own son and knowing that he saw a chained up animal in Hel and the he also didn't know what Garm was, he knew exactly why he set him free. He knew it was an honest mistake right there and there because he knows very well that Atreus cares for the lives of animals.

And he gets a big doggo in return

When I played it first time ,I was really fooled that Odin is not that bad , that was until that scene with You know who. They made an character an actor himself

Odin should have told Atreus that Garm was in the area. He didn't because he didn't think Atreus, who knew nothing about Garm or what he could do, would be kind enough to free a chained animal.

​@@FallenOne669I think he did it on purpose, not only to send Heimdall to collect the object that captured the moon of Vanaheim, Odin is almost unaffected by Garm being loose, he took care of that by making Asgard a safe place for him. I think he sent him there on purpose so that when Atreus returned home everyone (including Odin disguised as Tyr) would belittle and insult him for that mistake, but Odin proves to be kinder in that sense, only so that Atreus would be tempted to return to Asgard because Odin was more understanding of him.

well except garm and fenrir are completely separate in myth, with fenrir being raised among the gods as a puppy and just grew to gigantic proportions on his own. God of war echoes the actual myths rather than being accurate, which isnt really a bad things because it keeps you on your toes as to what will happen and what has happened in the past.

@@thorveim1174 There's been theories through out the years that Germ and Fenrir are off shoots of each other which is what probably inspired this interpretation.

Apparently in mythological Ragnarok it is Tyr the one who is killed by Garmr, described to be one of the worst of the monsters

Also, freeing Garm does no harm to Asgard. And Odin probably planned it as well. So he most likely stayed away

Heimdall had different mission, I think it was stealing the moon, Atreus and Thrud aren’t babies

@@陳潔明-w6y yeah Heimdall definitely isn't blameless and neither is Thruid. While this is first and foremost Atreus' fault Heimdall should've been keeping an eye on them and Thruid shouldn't've given into peer pressure from Atreus

Yeah after Atreus hands Ingrid back to Odin - with great care to treat it kindly - Odin just tosses it carelessly onto the bed. You can tell he's absolutely fuming that Atreus is leaving but has to keep it under wraps to keep up appearances.

I don't think she blamed the Aesir, I'm pretty sure that she straight up blames Atreus and Kratos and gives them the responsibility of closing them, I believe the Hel Eagle is impartial to either side and simply joined us because we gave her an offer she couldn't refuse.

Kratos is many things but a hypocrite is not one of them. He may be cagey about his past, and insist others be better, but he does not pretend that he's a saint, nor does he give people grief over mistakes he himself made once upon a time. Atreus fucked up, he wasnt pretending he didnt, so kratos was fully supportive. Yelling at an already guilty atreus would accomplish nothing.

First playthrough I hated Heimdall that badly but after thinking through about Garm in the myths, Heimdall sadly justified for that moment.

Because no one really expected he'd free Garm.... everyone was rightfully pissed.

@@itsharibonph I still believe that Tyr, Mimir and Freya could've directed their words to him better (I know reality-wise, it's just their Scripts doing the work that could've been done better). It was fortunate Kratos was there to shut them up because _none_ of them were helping with the situation. You should only be pissed at something or someone for so long before thinking of ways to remedy, if not eliminate the issue at hand. Especially when it's this big of one. (Even Ratatoskr tells the Duo to hurry up back to Hel to undo what they've done instead of pinning them there for longer with a verbal tirade [you can speak to him after closing the hel-gates at sindris house]) Atreus came back seeking help _first_ before getting reprimanded, because there wasn't enough time for him to sit there and be yelled at. (Kratos knew this. He was _better_ than that) When someone admits to making a mistake, big or small, fix it first. Speak to them afterward. They've punished themselves in their mind for it already. (Any person who owns up to their mistakes will always be ready to take responsibility of their consequences once the immediate issue is resolved)

I'm not defending atreus here BUT they could have at least mentioned it they had all the time in the world to do it. Every world has some rules that everyone musy go along with. Not freeing Garm is one of them here amd no one said a word

Kratos knows this, Freya knows this, Mimir knows this, Heimdall knows this(by locking eyes he can read your exact intentions feelings, even your own history), multiple people know this. Yet they don't give the PETA lover, a basic pep talk how hey "Hey theres a really scary wolf that can literally destroy reality, please DO NOT free it, I know it sounds like it wants to be free, but it wants to be free so it can destroy everything"

Not to mention Heimdall was there to supervise them and then proceeded to ignore everything they did then complain about it after

He doesn't care about him or anybody else except himself at the slightest. This is just yet another manipulation. He plays "good uncle" to get Atreus trust and get him on his side because he needs his help to get what he wants. This is the only thing that matters for Odin.

When your home has Thor there is nothing to worry about

@@purevessel4506 Garm is literally unkillable so even Thor wouldn't help much. Odin says that Asgard is safe because Garm can't go to the Asgard.
