I really feel him😢 they took the good-natured honesty and kind-hearted souls for granted and played it.. takes one to encounter to really know, and the sad reality is that some may not come to realization even till death, always wondering if we're defective when in reality "this was them"!!❤

I think the term narcissist is overrated however there are a lot of selfish people in the world! And people that lack self respect that sabatoge relaionships this way and don’t have the courage to leave instead of doing this also end doing a major disservice to themselves as it’s a sign of a weak character

The personality disordered people of the world seek to use and destroy others and if you had one of these monsters in your childhood, unfortunately you’re likely to find one as an adult. It’s not your fault but now that you know, it’s your responsibility to set up healthy boundaries, and keep them out of your life. Thank you, Matthew for this important message.

This is so true. It happened to me. I felt so ashamed being taken for a ride. 30 years with a covert Narcissist. I seriously still struggle with my true perception of reality. 😮😮😮😮

The first step to avoiding this is to recognize that it absolutely can happen to you and to be vigilant. If I get just a whiff of shifty behavior I call it out and it I pull the plug, even in friendships. Don’t be scared to be your own person.

Yep. After my divorce from 12 years of being a couple I realized how much I’m capable of only seeing what I want to see. I’m a much more careful person now. Taking time to know myself and learn how I really feel about a person is #1. Some day I’m bound to meet a high quality man and really share life together. But whoa, my eyes are open to my ability to be delusional. I’m humbled.

I agree there is element of giving responsibility to them, however we can't change others and we do have to take accounability for our part in the situation as one it allows you to move from victim mindset to power mindset and second it reminds you of power you have in situation to not allow it ever again if faced with similar circumstances ,it's more than blame game

You just never expect manipulative people to blind side you and go soooooo sooooooo sooooo far into trying to dupe you, you want to accept people for face value and consider that maybe you misunderstood rather than they are con artists. Because if they are actually conartists then you also have to accept that your perception of reality is distorted because you should be able to assume the majority of people are authentic and sincere.

Responsibility goes both ways in relationships. Playing the victim rule is far way more damaging that taking responsibility of what happened en decided to stay or leave. The one has to be honest with himself before expecting honesty from others....

I agree with Matthew's perspective. But I also understand where Sadia's perspective is coming from. Yes, it is them. Their fault. Their wrong doings. They should be responsible for the mistakes and damage that they've caused. They should be held accountable. But since when can you hold toxic people accountable? Never. Since the history of ever. So, let's look into ourselves. Forgive ourselves to ever chosen them, followed them, never said no to them, and worse, loved them. Look back to find a reason why did we fall to their "trap" in the first place. Life is a journey full of lessons for all of us. May peace be upon us all.
