This narrow road is home to a community of residents who have lived in small 1850s-era houses for decades - bud sadly it is now abandoned. The families who once inhabited these houses were kicked out and forced to leave. Local town officials stated the houses are not worth the cost of repairs and maintenance, based on the rents paid. Documents show 11 of the 15 tenants owe back rent from 2012 to 2017, for a total of $143,204. The evictions would set the stage for the town to seek bids for the purchase of the estimated 20 acres. The sale would lead to the destruction of the homes and potentially become home to warehousing or another commercial business. The town issued the tenants of the 15 occupied homes eviction letters in late September 2017, giving them until Nov. 30th to leave. For the families, the idea of moving was heartbreaking. In this episode we explore all of the houses in this abandoned neighborhood and take a close look at everything that was left behind.
