It’s normal Ayano’s story is still not complete we are still on the first rival so there are plenty of events that might take place + Ayano’s rivals are a 100 times more powerful than Rioba’s
Poor headmaster, it’s clear the events of 1980s mode has scarred him mentally for life in the present mode. In the regular mode he probably still feels responsible for some of the students death
@TwojaUlubionaRyba he actually does. When the full game comes out I might make an analysis video on the headmaster because he is such an interesting character in the game.
As someone who has an odd obsession with information about ghosts, I have a theory: Sumire is a restless spirit, she haunts the area where she was killed. She wants revenge and she wants it badly. She knows Ayano is the daughter of Ryoba and is waiting for the right time to strike. What if there was a secret ending? One where if you kill too many students who you were friends with or did the betray method too many times, the ending starts. Sumire is searching for Ayano and if she gets too close, she kills Ayano. The atmosphere is at 0, the time is night, all lights are off and you can't turn them back on. All the students would disappear. Info-chan would be unavailable as well. The motive could be to get out of the school? You get no help at all, it's only you, your fear and Sumire's vengeful spirit.
i have a really weird idea (for both modes), but hear me out. i think it would be really interesting to have a new type of elimination: "traumatizing". like, you can traumatize your rival everyday (by putting disturbing things on their locker and threatening notes without fingerprints) until they quit school or go insane. additionally, the rival might stop talking/avoid others except senpai and stop going to class (+will lose rep points).
just putting things on their desk is a bit tedious and easy i think. I don't think anyone will get traumatised by it, instead you should make them witness or experience something traumatic.
I think the REAL rival of a yandere or her mom will always be the book that the senpai carries. After all, only the book was so close to him. I think the book could be the final and most difficult rival to eliminate.
@@Rat11307 Senpai would use the book to wack Yandere-chan over the head to defend himself. If he hits her hard enough, she'll be stunned or knocked out, while he can make a getaway.
Real talk YanDev, 1980's Mode as a whole seems to be way more interesting and put together than the events meant to happen in the main game. The Plot being the main meat of it all
@@MewDenise I get what you mean but just based on what we do know I think im more excited for 1980s mode. I really like how mechanics of things changed with the older tech, it makes it a bit harder. I'm also a fan of the aesthetic.
Honestly I was a lil dissapointed that I couldn't join the student council - but then I noticed they were all boys and I realised it's the 80's, they most likely do not want a girl in the student council, so it makes sense!
Ryoba being more expressive than Ayano actually makes sense. Ryoba’ father was mind broken, so she was raised by her mother, who would obviously teach her about how to blend in perfectly. Ayano had her father trying to constantly fix her condition, so Ryoba had less influence on her daughter. They had different circumstances, so their condition manifested slightly differently. Also not me simping for the Yakuza, New Senpai and the student council boys😍😂 Also also YANDEV YOU OUTDID YOURSELF YOU GO KING
Also, Ryoba says it's been a year since she met Jokichi. Enough time to build the emotions, unlike Ayano, whose journey starts mere days after meeting Taro.
"Ayano, you're so spoiled. When I was your age, I didn't have cell phones or a convenient person to get me contraband at school whenever I wanted! Kids these days and their technology."
"Genka is trying to mimic her mother's mannerisms and speech patterns..." Oh, that's kind of sweet "Because she feels inferior to her mother, and is trying to live up to her" Oh... nevermind then
why am i just now finding out they aren’t the same person 💀 since the headmaster is the same person through the whole story i literally thought the guidance councilor was too
Ryoba's "Ideas" list is actually more helpful than Info-Chan. I'd say that should remain in the full game, however it would also make sense that after beating 1980's mode, you'd already have an understanding of how to be creative with killing rivals. Still think having the ideas list in the main game would be a fantastic idea!
Agreed- so this way ayano isn’t completely reliant on infochan. Maybe there’s a place where we can find some of ryobas old schemes? And incorporate those into modern day aspect to eliminate ayanos own rivals.
I mean info chan is daugther of that journalist, I have theory that if u use to much of info chan's favours in the ending she will send every proof to police and u have bad ending
@@alexandraae1443 Oh yeah !!! Imagine Ayano finding Ryoba's notebook in an old package in the basement then the player could access to the Ideas list, that would be so cool ! A little wink to the 80's mode ;3
Same! Cause like ayano when she killed the occult leader (forgot her name) and they had a ghost so I thought if the ghost in the bathroom was also a victim… but I just didn’t know who
I actually understand this, I tried to play the tutorial and after I killed the girl and my game unlagged, her corpse started sliding away and after I got the garbage bags, I didn't know where she was. And that's not the only weird thing, I also happened to have Yui Rio spawn in there too and she's done some damage to my reputation alright

That's why I feel like her hints were such an amazing addition because if you dont know what to do in the game you're kinda left guessing where everything is and that's not fun to play. But this is a perfect step in the right direction for completing the game!!!!!!!
I'm genuinely very impressed by this version of the game, and I think this will end up being the biggest argument for removing info-chan from the main game. I think that gameplay would be much more fun without her in it, she just makes things too easy.
That could also be an argument for the use of Info-Chan being a factor in Ayano's ending. How much you relied on her could change any number of factors... or if you didn't give her enough attention, she may end up perturbed enough to retaliate somehow.
@@MewDenise (edit for spelling) that was confirmed to be the original plot line years ago but he did away with it because it was too obvious and predictable. He has yet to debunk the theory that she is the daughter of the defamed journalist who was investigating ayanos mom, and is collecting proof on ayano to clear her father's name. There IS potential for a story here, but the negative effect she has on the authenticity and creativity of the gameplay out weighs any lore payoff in my opinion
I think it’s fine if she exists, but I do think it should be more difficult to get info points, or the current methods, should yield less info points. That way, you’ll use her services less often and be more selective about how you use them. On another note, Ayano currently relies on info-Chan to tell her when a new rival has come into play, which makes sense, because it’s never quite explained how Ryoba discovered her rivals, unless we assume she found out about them while stalking Senpai. If that’s the case, Ryoba has been stalking Senpai for a year, and that works out. But Ayano has only recently met Senpai, according to the current story, so it may not make as much sense that she would know about her new rivals so easily. She can’t have learned that much about him so far, and she doesn’t seem to have friends, so Info-chan makes a good source of that information. We don’t know whether Ayano is as cunning and observant as Ryoba, so it’s hard to say whether she would’ve figured that information out on her own.
Here is an idea! Whenever there is blood on the floor there should be an update where if some students don’t notice the blood and slip in it, and people see them with blood on their uniform, they get accused of creating the blood patch.
This is a good idea, but maybe dont have them slip in it. Instead, maybe there can be a way to frame a student for a murder by doing the opposite? Ex, kill a student and dispose of their body, but hide the weapon in the rival's bag. Or, steal their uniform and cover it in blood.
I need to warn you guys: do NOT try to "search for student's locker" while completing Tutorial in 1980s; that just locks you in place, and you can do nothing but to press 'Esc' and go to main menu...
spoiler ahead: If you go to the town, there is a haircut shop. If you enter it, the barber doesn't say anything. If you wait for a longer time, the screen will turn black and she will start talking. She said that she has a same hobby as Ryoba, and willing to sell some advise for you. That's probably why in Ayano's time period we meet the barber, she asks Ayano how is her mother doing.
I think she's Ryoba's sister(it's just my guess tho). At the end of the game you can see timeline where the first Aishi born and when the first Radio was invented. I think it also mentions Ryoba and her sister both samilar.
As much as people like to dunk on Yandere Dev, I would genuinely like to see him make a redemption arc, and 1980s mode seems like a genuine attempt at doing that by addressing some of the complaints that people have had. Hopeful for the future! 👍
This really feels like the definitive version of the game. The complexities/minigames of the 2022 school always felt really unnecessary to me- this seems a lot more focused, which I really appreciate.
@@RansomMoney58 To be fair though when the game finally gets to the point where he's able to hire a full team, he could get it fully voiced for the official release.
Absolutely agreed, imo I feel like this version of the game, as simple as it is, is much better than what Yan-Dev has planned for the 2022 version of Yandere Simulator
@@trashking471 Totally! The landline phone mechanic, lack of Infochan, the soundtrack, and Senpai's character are all just really big improvements, imho. Edit: just got to the part about the Yakuza being in this version. This is far superior...
While playing 1980s mode I found that it was a lot more fun having limited resources and not relying on info chan 1980s mode feels much more realistic and the game feels alot more fun when I figured stuff out for myself instead getting info chan to tell ne how to do everything.
eliminating the rivals in 1980s mode was kinda easy to me. the only correct way i eliminated a rival was for ai with electrocution. i just knifed the other ones. and drowned some. and in the end i got a C
Gossip, is, ultimately the most powerful method. The 2nd one is clearing (preemprively either killing or elmininating male delenquients and disbanding martial arts club) area around incinerator, and after that it is just super easy to make entire school "dissappear" without dropping the mood, sometimes at all. I particularly like wooden sword weapons - Bokken and Tatsu iirc, they can kill enemies by blunt trauma or by choking on them, without blood, which is way superiror (altrough look a bit less satisfying).
@@amenkeshigomu6744 Part of the game is better than the actual game for now. I don't know what his ideas are going to be for the future so it could change at any time
Yes! Nemesis could literally BE your nemesis! There could be a final level where they’re like “lmao I’m gonna kill Taro since I can’t have him” and you have to fight the rival
This is absolutely insane, I’ve been following the game’s development since 2016, and now in 2022, I just can’t believe how time passes quickly. Keep making progress, take your time
you know, if you want to bring the Yakuza guy into the modern game, he could be called "an old friend" of Ayano's mom, and offer similar services b/c of that
damn so ryoba literally killed her rivals without any help except for the yakuza if ever a player used it. still its cool to see that she work hard only by herself love this.
80's mode is amazing, I've played it more than the base game. Not having Info chan was really weird to get used to, but it let me get a better feel for doing it on my own. I love this.
I find that 1980s Mode has far better game design than what is made of 202X Mode right now. Osana in 202X Mode right now seems like she's more complicated than she should be for the first rival for the purposes of making the demo hard, mostly because of Raibaru. The routines of students in 1980s Mode make it so that there are a lot of witnesses in passageways where there are not witnesses in 202X Mode.
what pc do you have and where did you get it if you don’t mind me asking? i’ve been wanting a pc but i want one that runs games really well. please respond if you can
@@doki7242 I have a laptop that isn't very strong or fast and the game runs quite well for me. But keep in mind as a tip that the game will run with more fps if you disable some visual effects of 1980 mode, and also if you set the graphics to 1/2, 1/4 or 1/8 Low, and dissable the hair movement. You can also try not to have other apps open, so that your PC doesn't become saturated, and the game would run well for you
For me, the most surprising thing is that there's a Brazilian dude in the student council that speaks Portuguese and his name is Jose Silva, I rlly wasn't expecting it
Despite all the drama, I still do want you to succeed. I think you've really proved to me that you really can do this. I am back on board with the development. Good luck.
Yeah it seems that he has actually put a lot of effort into this 1980s mode, and is now trying to listen to any suggestions from fans so that he can improve and finalize his game. The drama was super hectic lol. If he keeps getting better, then his improvements would make up for all of the drama
i'm personally indifferent to it, sure there's some problematic stuff he's said but I just wanna play a game (and I'm glad 1980's mode doesn't have info-chan because let's be honest, she's too overpowered)
Honestly I think 98% of people would have off themselves if they were in his shoes. This dude has gone through so much shit and he has my respect for pushing forward and not giving up. I do hope after the game is done, he can take a super long break and restore his mental sanity.
I love the posters found in the school. And I, honestly, find the designs of the rivals in 1980s Mode to be a lot more... pleasant to look at than several of the main mode ones. Probably because these feel like *designed characters* and not just a case of *character archetypes* Oka and Amai have neat designs, fitting with their established personalities and visually appropriate. But some of the others feel a bit... just a little bit too exaggerated, so they are not really characters, they are, as I say, archetypes. Osoro is a little too 'spikey lines everywhere', for example. I almost want to hope that their designs might end up getting tweaked, even just a little bit, for the full game.
Hi there, just wanted to make a possible suggestion. I was watching my friend play the 80s mode and something that I pointed out was the NES in the room. If the game is supposed to take place in 1980s Japan, I feel it makes more sense to have the Famicom instead of the NES, which is fitting for the time period and location
1989 cell phones were primarily used for giant corporations and government officials. They were big and hardly something one would carry around without good reason and it's own giant case. I wouldn't expect a highschool student to be carrying one. Now if this was 1995 then yes. That is about the time frame they started to get small enough to carry in a pocket or a purse and made available to the commercial market. Maybe the tech caught on faster and became more compact in Japan than Europe % the US though.
Yandere-Dev sounds so enthusiastic and happy explaining this! I hope this was a much-needed mental break for him from the grind of the main game. This prequel does not disappoint!
I really, really love the fact that at the end you get scored on your performance. Makes trying again, waiting for the results and “competing” in a game that is not competitive that much more fun
I like how Yandere dev actually calls Taro and Ayano by their names instead of "Yandere-chan" and "Senpai". Edit: I don't deserve these likes. Thx for your kindness people
@@hitchan3004 no? “senpai” is gender neutral honorific, used for people who are in a higher place than you in your occupation. ex: youre a janitor and another person is a cashier. assuming the cashier is higher than the janitor, the other person is your senpai. they dont have to be older than you to be called senpai. “sentai” is literally translated to “squadron”
hear me out: a concept. so in 1980s mode, you know how the headmaster goes kinda crazy after ryoba leaves? well, if you are nice to him and get an S+ rank in the court case, he would be nicer to the character because ayanos mother was his “friend”…
With all due respect to your suggestion , the school’s reputation is damaged when that first murder took place. The headmaster would be seen as a disgrace by the community due to that he let a murder happen when he has a duty of care to all students and staff. Plus a student cannot befriend a teacher/principal without people thinking of an inappropriate relationship… well friendship when there is an imbalance of power. Lastly, Ryoba canonically only cares about her Senpai. She is like Ayano/Yandere Kun in terms of not caring what she has to do or who she has to hurt to get what she wants so I don’t think befriending the principal will benefit Ryoba from getting her Senpai in the game.
the head master still canonly hates ryoba even after the court and we can tell this bcs of his tapes. he claims ryoba is guilty and manipulated the court, so its no point
Well originally Hanako was meant to be kind of a jailbait and Pervy character in love with her brother but of course she was changed to be sweet ,clingy and overprotective of her big brother. Instead of an incestuous relationship, it was changed so that when Hanako confesses, Taro will just promise that he will not fall in love and stay by his sister’s side.
Hanako is senpai's sister, the only thing hanako wants is for her brother to spend more time with her, but as rival rules, a girl who gets too close to senpai or who has events with him, counts as a rival just like osana, amai, kizana, oka, asu, muja.. and more rivals..
yeah ... that's what he's been doing ?? it's hard to find specific animations and even then he would have to accordingly pay for them, he has volunteers that make the presets . obviously since they're volunteers they can't spend all their time on it, and apparently yandev doesn't have the money yet to pay anyone.
I love how the 1980’s mode includes a “canon” elimination method for each rival. I really hope something similar is implemented in the regular version of the game when all ten rivals are available
@@insidejobhaha Each rival is going to have at least one rival-specific elimination method, just like Osana. But I dont think that Ayano's rivals are going to have canon wait to eliminate them. I mean Ryoba had already killed 11 girls before Ayano was even born, so Ryoba's rivals had already died in some way, but we are the ones who can choose Ayano's rivals' fate.
I hope not. I did it the canon way first and then it took some mental effort to make myself replay it. The options are what makes it fun but that doesn't work if there is a "right" answer.
He only does that to Ayano, because of the events that unfolded in the 1980s mode, which included death and stuff, hence, causing the headmaster to become more cautious. He’s more cautious around Ayano because he’s aware that she’s the daughter of the woman who was sent to trial for alleged murders
osana: you so heavy Raibaru-chan..! **carry raibaru** raibaru: just wait for her to come, she needs to see this too! ayano: i'm here. osana: okay, do what you wanted to do raibaru! raibaru: I BELIEVE I CAN FLYYYYY~~! I BELIEVE I CAN TOUCH THE SKYY~! **flys off** Ayano: **piano sounds and than laughs** osana: wtf. (is a joke, dont take it seriously)
Glad that Ryoba's crush is more unique than "Senpai". Seriously, I can name at least three boys from school who I would date instead of him. He's like a blank piece of paper in the art gallery full of artworks. I have no idea how Ayano would fall for him, and how all those girls love him, when he isn't even close to any of their types
When I first saw a yt video tutorial by a youtuber, on Taro's profile the last sentence literally says: I'm not sure what you see in him. That was 4 years ago, and every time I remember it I start laughing. Damn, Info-Chan is a savage.
"Jokochi is like Taro." No he is not. He is completely different. For example Taro knows not to date bad girls( Ayano Megami and Osoro have reasons)Jokochi , Will accept love confessions from bad people."Ayano and Ryoba are too similar. " I mean yes, but they do live in the same Blood line. They are family, They should be similar. Although, One has the same condition as her daughter but can play emotions ( Ryoba) And one can't.( Ayano ) They are completely different. All characters in this paragraph are different.😊
We finally have a reason why Ghost Chan exists! But it would be nice If her outfit in present mode was the same as the 1980s She couldn't possibly change her clothes to the modern setting while she's a spirit
@@MossPathway I mean.. what does Oka have to do with this? Yea she can talk to ghosts and all, but ghost chan helping the daughter of the person who KILLED her kill someone she possibly don't know???? Eh...
This is so PERFECT! The 1980 mode fascinates me with everything there is, Ryoba, 10 ready-MADE rivals, delicate colors, beautiful surroundings, Yandere's mom's smile, and the like.
I would kind of imagine that she has more emotion than her mother the kind of follow the chain like maybe her Great grandmother had no emotions like Ayano but you never know
and great grandmother and great great grandmother as ryobas grandmother was also a yandere, and so was ryobas mother, and ryoba, then ayano, then ayanos kid, then ayanos kid's kid, and so on untill they give birth to a boy then male yandere family starts with male rivals then there will be a 5055 mode where we get to play as one of the charecters of the generation ofc i dont think it will happen but there is hope
I can see why people may say that the 1980's mode is better than the main game, but I'll to be honest, the main game is better in many ways, for one, all of the rivals are unique, they have a lot of things about them that make them very special, giving a whole unique experience with each new rival, and that always was one factor that intrigued me about the game Two, the deep story of the main game always fascinated me, the way alot of things seem to simply click together if you just look a bit more deeply, I love theorizing about what each thing could possibly mean Three, I've always questioned senpai's actions and the way he was portrayed, amd with the fact that I've been watching yandere Dev's videos, and saw very few specific things in the game, I came to the theory that taro is not as normal and average and boring as he may seem, which gives the feeling that he is hiding something that we as players should find out on our own Four, the very special things that are only available in the main game are always welcome to me, more mysteries, more puzzles and even more story juice! I love all the small things from small conversations around the school, to completely weird additions that may seem uncalled for by some, or even the small Easter eggs like the ring and the mysterious voice that comes if you take it to the tree All in all, I think the main game is generally better than the mode, that's not to say the 1980's mode is bad, in fact I like it! All I'm saying is that the main game is better even if it was currently incomplete, but the mode is also good, really really good at that, at least it gives us more insight about ayano's mom and the whole detective thing and why the principal is the way he is with ayano, and it also gives us a taste on how it might feel like finishing the game and eliminating all of the rivals and getting senpai, although not exactly, it still gives us a bit of a feel about it So good job yandere dev! You did amazing with this game!
I love how we will witnessed Ryoba’s history during her days. I am so curious about it and also how she get senpai that easily. Many theories got spread but I’m still waiting on her actual story coming from Yandere Dev.
I think the problem here is that the older concepts weren't fully reshaped due to the fact it would require even more time to get different assets etc. When that's the case, you should restart from 0 (or a template of yours) and go along your past experiences for improvement. YandereDev did that here, he applied what couldn't be applied before. I've found myself doing that before and it's quite refreshing.
I hope to see Nemesis as a returning character in the main Yandere game. 1980's mode was fantastically done. Ryoba's personality; smug and clever, made it perfect.
You know what I think would be helpful in the 1980's mode. Japan still had public trash cans so, you could use those as a way for the Yakuza to send Ryoba what she paid for as I dont think they would send it to her in the alley way like that.
If you want give the benefit of the doubt, Ayano is included in the statement. Hanako isn't in love with Taro, so she doesn't apply to the "would fall for him" part.
Perhaps, when faced with different situations such as getting dumped with water, different rivals/people react in different ways, rather than just, “Ugh! Who would do this?! I can’t go to class like this!” then immediately rush to the bathroom. For example, if you dump Oka with water, she would react much more sensitively then yelling out, due to her personality.
