I was completely shocked with every aspect of this lens. From its size and weight to the quality optics, this was a very pleasant surprise. I highly recommend the Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 75mm f/1.8 Lens

Wonderful session! Thank you for sharing! Moving from Leica M back to Olympus/OM Systems was a re-learning challenge for me. My 75mm f1.8 is a treat to use. Sharp, consistent and great for portraits! I’ve always liked that focal length! The earlier EM1mk3 with the 75mm or the Pro series lenses is truly fun to use! 👏

Lovely little video. The use of plenty of images taken with the lens to illustrate what you are referring to in the cometary is particularly helpful but you’d be surprised ho we many of the other people producing content like this don’t do this. Now you have tried the 75mm, I’’d suggest you have a word with OM Systems to see how if they will approve a loan of the trilogy of Pro f1.2 primes - 17mm, 25mm and the one I suspect you will particularly like, the 45mm. The more familiar you become with the various lens options available from Olympus as was, I think the more you will conclude that it’s the quality of the lenses which are the real strength of the system. Regards

I got this lens recently but I use it on a GH5 for photos and I agree that it has a great balance of compression and focal length for the MFT system. It's sharp and has good colors. And I got it on sale so overall I am very happy with it. I also got the Rokinon 135mm f2 at the same time and wow is that a sharp lens! Two high value lenses for sure.

Gorgeously good images John and great compositions. I especially love the tall grass image. Call me an old fashioned, but I’m wondering if I really would want portrait images of ladies this sharp!! I think I would want a softer perhaps slightly more angelic effect. I think it would be perfect for hard edged subjects eg diamond ring close-ups or monochrome portraits of wizen-faced old men! No offence meant here John, it’s horses for courses; you can’t please everyone! Thanks for explaining that crop sensor lenses don’t compress by their crop factor. I suppose I should have worked this out for myself since it’s the same as a digital crop on a FF sensor. Thanks for the video I really enjoyed it. Keep ‘em coming.

Beautiful, stunning. Now I am curious what you would think of the Viltrox 75mm f/1.2 APS-C Which again would have that 75mm compression, albeit with 1.5x instead of 2x crop factor. The Viltrox comes in various mounts, mine is Fujifilm X mount. Again, just curious, because this is a relatively affordable yet impressive lens you might like. That Olympus 75mm lens is a system seller! …but the model is beautiful and the camera rendition is excellent.

I'm coming from the M11 Monochrome. As a (mostly) street shooter, with everything in front of me happening so quickly, I find that my composition suffers if I concentrate on getting the moment. If I try to compose properly, I miss the moment. This happens because focusing is done with the rangefinder, which is terrible for composing. n the end, it becomes distracting. Anyway, it happens often enough that the M43 universe is slowly pulling me in, and I'm starting to invest in more and more lenses for it. Great video, your enthusiasm for the new lightweight camera is clearly evident!

I am usually not an "Um, actually ..." guy, but I have to nitpick about your idea that the 75 mm "has a 75 mm compression". Compression is not dependent on the focal length but on the distance. And you would need to use the same distance with a 150 mm lens on a FF camera as with the 75 mm on the OM-1. So ... what are you saying exactly? Could you demonstrate the difference you are seeing? Another thing, regarding 4:17: It is an open secret that this lens is patented and manufactured by Sigma. Which explains the great performance. Anyway - thanks for taking us along in the shoot. The stunning results und your verdict definitely renewed my interest. Especially in the silver version.

@@joshuagutierrez8407 It is for sure made of plastic, but it feels solid. Also, I feel that it suits the ethos of the MFT cameras more so than Olympus Pro lenses which although are absolutely top class in performance and construction, are rather large and heavy for the size of the camera.
