Snake plants grow in the wild outside here in Florida. It rains a lot here and it doesn’t affect the leaves at all. So I don’t think getting the leaves wet hurts the plant.

How nice! We are in Wyoming and I wish we had beautiful tropical plants growing wild. 😊

Hey! Love the video. I'm also a fairly new plant parent. I have found out that if you try to propagate a leaf from a varigated plant, you lose the varigation (edging) on the new plant. The only way to get that varigation is by waiting for the new baby shoots to pop out and then seperate it

Oh good tip! That’s definitely something important thing to remember because cutting the variegated vine can disrupt the variegation on the mother plant as well. Thanks for contributing to this community of learners. 💜💜💜

I have killed every plant that has a reputation of being ‘easy’. Snakes, aloe, spider …..all from over watering. I killed my beautiful prayer plant. Last winter I actually took the stem and a half leaf that was left on the prayer plant and put it in a small amt of water. It got roots! Then I put it in a small pot…..it grow a whole leaf!. It now has 6 leaves and I cut the half leaf off. I think I’ll be able to keep it alive. I basically leave it alone and only bottom water and only water when it reads dry on the water meter I had to buy to help me. I killed 5 spider plant in 6 years and swore I’d never get another. But a friend gave me one of her extra spider plants last summer and told me to put it in a room and leave it alone. It now has 3 babies and over winter I cut off 3 babies cuz they looked stressed. They are growing beautifully in their own pots. Sooooo. That is the secret………don’t water them all the time.

Nice job!! I completely agree that we kill plants by over-loving them, more often than not. 😂 Thank you for the advice and experience. It definitely is good to hear that I’m not the only one. 💜

@@Botanicsandbassets . It took a lot of dead plants for me to figure out I was the reason they were dead! Lol. I’m trying my best. Just killed an aloe a couple months ago. I got a new one from a friend who has a ton on her patio. The one she gave me, the soil was desert dry. It’s doing fine so I keep leaving it alone but it’s so hard! 🤸🏿‍♀️💦

My poor snake plant has BEEN THROUGH IT. I have one leaf that I have no idea how it's still hanging on. It's severed RIIIIIIIGHT up to the middle, on both sides; and yet it hangs on like a hinge. Snake plants are super hearty things, but I still want to care for it with all of my heart. (;w; ) I'm also excited for repotting season so I can finally repot some of my older planst and put them into a mini greenhouse set-up I'm putting together in my room. =) Thank you so much for all these tips, and I am loving your channel!

I've tried my best to propagate those leaves, And they all winded up getting soggy. So I just buy plants when I find them on sale. I just purchased them.

They are tricky to propagate. I’ve had my fair share of throw-aways!

I have done exactly the same things as you have outlined including growing from a cutting in water. My advice is to stop now. You are in the early stages of craziness and still have the chance to quit. I now can't go by a plant nursery without checking, trawl marketplace and buy cuttings from ebay looking for rarer ones that I like, and the collection keeps growing. There are over 100 varieties and there is always another one that will catch your eye that you will have to have. Stop now while you still have a chance.

Thank you for the warning, but sadly I think you may be too little too late. The obsession has taken over! 😂
