I am so glad people like you have made these videos about PAs. It is a very undercovered profession and I had never heard of it until RU-vid. I now know what I want to do for the rest of my life. Thank you for your positivity, it is a pleasure to watch you!!!

So I keep hearing about students who become MA's without a certification, which I'm guessing it pertains to who you know that what you know. I feel a little discouraged, especially when its hard trying to find a PA to shadow. What advice do you have for students who don't have an MA certification & are trying to look for MA jobs?

I'd like your opinion. I know you said being a CNA was a good job to get for patient care experience, and I became one, but on the CASPA website it says patient care is where your "directing" a patients care, and for healthcare it says "you are not directly responsible for a patient's care, but may still have patient interaction; for example, filling prescriptions, performing clerical work, delivering patient food, cleaning patients and/or their rooms, administering food or medication, taking vitals or other record-keeping information, working as a scribe, CNA (depending on job description), medical assistant, etc." It looks like pretty much all of my job as a CNA falls under patient care because I'm not directing anything like a nurse or EMT would. I'm just taking care of them. What do you recommend I do? Change jobs? Try to find a CNA job where I'm directing care (not sure that's within the scope of a CNA's duties)? I'm worried how I will justify my work as a CNA as patient care in CASPA. Kind of scared I'll be wasting this 2.5 years working on hours only for them to not count in the end.

Can you do a video of how you balance everything. I am currently in school but I also work 2 jobs. One as a DSP and the other with a family. I feel overwhelmed sometimes trying to balance everything and although I want to be a PA I feel like I will be losing lots of time with my family which makes me question everything. Especially having to relocate. There is a PA school near me but it's in another state while the school that are in my state are way farther away. I can't see the end of sight because life is happening now and it's affecting things around me and myself. How do you balance everything or find the time or energy I feel like I never have time for myself. Help, any advice would be appreciated thanks.

I’m considering PA school, so far I did my medical assistant program and graduated but didn’t find a job I know that’s something helpful for the career. Though I got a job in a hospital as a patient transporter, will that do some experience for me for PA school?

So, I already have a BSc in Biology, and I've been going back and forth with an RN or PA. I wanted to ask what would be a better hands on experience for me to go? CNA or MA? Don't want to spend so a lot money
@AdannaThePA
@AdannaThePA 5 лет назад
So being a CNA I would say is better, unless you're a certified MA then they do pretty much can do the same thing outpatient. Inpt most hospitals are looking for CNAs to be their techs.

The crazy thing is i asked a surgical PA should i be a RN before being a PA she said it would be better to be a Medical assistant... That was my idea to be a RN and build up money and hands on experience...Whats your take ?
@trevonsmith2761
@trevonsmith2761 6 лет назад
Stefania for-sure Stefania for-sure if you have you bachelors already I would say just be a MA or cna for hours and go straight to pa school. That would save you money. Another option if you have a bachelors is a accelerated BSN program do you could have your RN in a year and the cost wouldn’t be toooo bad. If you don’t have your bachelors I would say getting your BSN Innursing would be a great path! Since you would still need a bachelors that my plan :) still debating NP, CRNA(not as much), MD, or PA though... PA is definitely looking like it may be the winner... only time will tell lol

Love your videos Adanna, for someone interested in the PA program what major would you suggest for undergrad, and also BA or BS in biology. I'm still trying to decide, because I'm trying to transfer to a 4 year university and I'll be a junior once I transfer. I'm more of a biology and anatomy person. I can take chemistry to a certain degree (but I'm not a fan) is there a lot of Chemistry, calculus, statistics and Physics in the program? Thanks.
@AdannaThePA
@AdannaThePA 6 лет назад
Day El I do suggest you do a BS in Biology, or any of the sciences/allied health sciences, and even nursing. Any degree that will afford you the opportunity to not only obtain your prerequisites for PA school, but the opportunity to get a job in the healthcare field that will allow you to get you healthcare hours and experience as well. As far as school goes, there is no chemistry (per say (pharmacology has chemistry in it but it's not supper involoved)) calculus, and physics in the program but there is statistics because of research.

Does it matter what type of volunteer work you complete. Also how soon should one start looking for shadowing opportunities. I'm in the process of beginning prerequisites, so should I start now or wait till the semester before I'm done.

Hi, I just recently considering a profession as a PA. I have a few credits from my community college, and I was going for sonography school, but I have second thoughts. Should I skip that process because I wouldn’t have the bachelor degree that I need in order to start down the road as a PA? Just wondering what your thoughts were.

Are there any good online P A. programs? if so what are they?
@AdannaThePA
@AdannaThePA 5 лет назад
So the only one that I know of is Yale's PA program and it's a hybrid program so although you do it online you still visit the campus like various times throughout your your time in the program. The best place to get a more complete answer to that question is by going to paeaonline.org and searching the directory for o line PA schools.

I have a question whats your opinion of doing LPN before pa school while already having a BS? I have a BS degree but my gpa is below 3.0, im a CNA and I work closely with lpns so becoming a lpn wont be a huge surprise. my financial situation is stressing me out and that CNA paycheck isn't helping lol I wanted to do LPN and I saw on the caspa website that nursing classes count as science gpa which is what I need to boost my pa application. I don't want to be a NP.
@yenakim6679
@yenakim6679 6 лет назад
do u have to have like a solid 3.5 gpa in high school to get into pa school?
@AdannaThePA
@AdannaThePA 6 лет назад
There are many factors that go into getting into PA School. Your GPA is just one of them. People have gotten into PA school with less than a 3.5 GPA, you just have to research the requirements for the schools you which to apply to to get more specific details on what they look for. PA Schools are looking at your College GPA, but it's definitely great to do well in High School too.

So I'm still not a PA-C, I'm. PA student. I won't be a certified physician assistant until September of next year. I was a HHA, CNA, clinical scheduler and psr for several years before I applied to PS school. But as most of my videos going out you can go directly from high school into a bridge bachelor's master's program for PA school or you can take a few years get some experience and then once you've completed your bachelor's degree apply for a master's program
