As a Chrysler tech, these new generation of trucks have a lot of electrical and wiring issues. The CP4 recall replaces the fuel pump with a CP3. We get plenty of these trucks through our dealership and during PDIs we perform at least 5 recalls before they’re even ready for sale. In my opinion Chrysler/stellantis have been dropping the ball on their products recently. With the price increases on all their products these trucks are not worth 6 figures when it’s all said and done. As far as capabilities the trucks are good.

I've always had Rams. My 2022 Limited Cummins had issues with the 12" screen, an antenna connection, the transmission. I have a 24' Duramax no with almost 10k on it. No issues so far, but I will say that I liked that Ram better, despite the problems. I'd probably go with the 6.4 Hemi if I get a 24' Ram HD next year.

That’s odd, we rarely if ever see electrical issues in our Ram group with tens of thousands of members…

The 3/4 ton just isn't enough truck for a 5th wheel that heavy. You should have purchased the 3500. Way more payload, better brakes, suspension, frame, etc. Not really sure why Ford, GM and RAM even bother making 3/4 ton trucks anymore. When I priced a 2023 Ford F250 with the high capacity tow package vs. an F350, believe it or not, the F350 was $80 LESS and was a lot more truck. In the end, I bought a 2022 RAM 3500 Laramie CTD SRW before the price increases and interest rates went crazy and absolutely love it! It tows and hauls effortlessly.

His 2500 has the same brakes and same frame as your 3500. The differences are in the suspension setups and axles, although the 3/4 ton segment is further derated to hit 10k GVWR's for local compliance reasons. I live in BC, and 1-tons are exempt from luxury taxes that hit the 3/4 ton segment, so almost all HD's are 1-ton here, Ontario is different.

So after watching 15 minutes of a video that was supposed to be about why you’re so disappointed in your truck that you’re going to switch from Ram to Chevy, we find out that you only have one complaint. One. The rear coil springs make it ‘wish-washy’ when heavy-hauling. Most of us would go with an aftermarket solution in this instance as opposed to throwing our arms in the air and dropping to our knees in despair. Coilover shocks, airbags, swaybars, stiffer springs, all viable options which weren’t covered as options in your video. But hey, enjoy your Chevy…you’ve earned it.

Hello, Love your Channel, good job! I would like to comment on the rear coil spring suspension; in my opinion it's not the coil's fault that your top heavy load gets 'wish-washy'. This has more to do with how far inboard the coils are and the stiff antisway bars (both frt/rr). With a top-heavy load this setup will sway more than leaf springs that are mounted as far outboard as practicable (which is the case with most trucks). Or even mounted in the same spot, due to the inherent friction in the leaf springs, which coils do not have. I also own a 2019 Ram 2500 4x4 ccsb CTD, I have personally towed a trailer weighing more than twice what your trailer weighs, with about 3k on the gooseneck ball. There was no swaying of any kind, since the center of the weight is the center of the ball. I this case my truck rides smoother and handles better than my brother's 2022 GMC 2500 with leaf springs. To fix this 'problem', I think RAM should move the coils outboard as far as possible and optionally offer the rear sway bar for the 'camper special'... BTW, I love the rear suspension (don't tow fifth wheel trailers, only bumper-pull and gooseneck)
@acemclaughlin1992
@acemclaughlin1992 7 месяцев назад
IMO ram has them there for a reason. I think it's in board at the perfect place to allow people that choose to haul loads towards the top end of the load range to add after market suspension parts. (Air bags, timbrens, sumosprings) that would be more effective further outboard.

Hands down still one of the best looking HD trucks out there. Has a 2012 and a 2016. Love the interior of the newer gen. Ram still has one of the best interiors both in the 1500s and the HDs. Just wish they would update the powertrain to compete with the fords and chevys. Not a huge fan on the 68rfe. Its old and outdated.

Seems like Ram was more blatant about increasing their MSRP and keeping it high more than the other truck manufacturers. Chevy raised it quite a bit as well but there was a recent total redesign in there. That may work for Stellantis in the short term, and I'm sure they're still making plenty of money per vehicle compared to the old days but not sure that's going to work out for them in the long term. Personally, I was a Ram loyalist until the ridiculous price increases without any significant changes to the actual trucks. I do agree with you, Ram has the best interiors. Now driving a Ford.

Hello Truck Kings, I've been following your channel for quite a while and like your videos. I can see three facts why you're not happy with your setup. It all started with your new fifth wheel. That this rig is too heavy for your RAM 2500 is clear, but the Cross Wing hitch with its offset makes the drivability even worse. And on top of that, not having a RAM Air suspension or something similar makes the bad experience perfect. I hope your new Chevy will solve your problems.

The issue with the rear end moving around is common on this generation of Ram. The best fix is a good heavy duty Thuren rear Track bar. It changes the angle of the track bar and anyone who ever put one on says it takes care of waggle in the rear of this generation of Ram. I know the truck is sold but just letting you know what would fix your issue.

The weight of a diesel engine is obviously heavier taking away from your 10,000 GVWR (for 2500). Payload is whats remaining from this number. Coil springs for Ram 2500 'comfort ride'. 3500 is leafs and much higher GVWR.

Hey truck king. Ive enjoyed the channel for the past 3 years with that Ram (as i have a 19 Ram as well). Ill still be tuning in from time to time for other videos but when the Ram is gone ill have less to relate to. I will say I wish I could have talked you into trying out a suspension helper product. Something you see a good channel do after identifying a problem is how you can mitigate it. It would have been a cheap video to show you install a product of your choice and you likely would have GAINED A SPONSER and paid nothing. Ram left a perfect place between the wheel hub and the coil for a reason. You say you are upgrading for us the viewers, but solving a problem would have helped us more than watching stock trucks do stock things that they are rated for, with commentary. Your BEST video was when you ignored the payload sticker and used common sense. Anyways. Good luck with GM. I'll have to check out the video when you get it, and then a month or two later when you break down. Lol kidding!
