Today’s video was requested by a few subscribers. Packing everthing I own as an extreme minimalist . Everything I own is currently 88 items. This was very interesting for me, to see the physical volume really only took up half the suitcase without my hammock. I would also estimate that it only weighed about 12 to 15kg.
Furthermore to add a little context for anyone new to the channel. I started out as a minimalist but have recently been downsizing to eventually go travelling. I do actually enjoy living super minimal however. I find it eases stress. The items that I have chosen to keep have been the ones that I valued most. The more I decluttered the more I realised that even the items I had as a minimalist were not as valued, essential or utilised as some of the other items. I did mention in the start of the video that extreme minimalism is not toxic for myself and my own intentions. One of my main intentions is to not be attached to anything but connected to everything. I invite philosophies of wellness practices into my life, whilst being guided by minimalist lifestyle and slow living. This has enabled me to feel a sense of well being. It is only recently I have tracked my possessions closely as a part of this RU-vid series. I am fully aware that the counting of belongings is not the basis of minimalism.
Post Edit comment:
I realised In Editing I have not packed the fleece or my 2nd pair of Jeans as these were drying. I did however count them. I think it was visible that there was space in the case for these. 😊

Thanks for sharing. That was really good. I’m currently paring down into a backpack. It’s harder than I thought 😮

I bet it is when it really gets down to final choices 😊 I think I’m letting my items wear out to kind of choose for me what makes it from the suitcase to the backpack eventually 😂 🧳 🎒

Fascinating how different extreme or essential can be for different people! I have never in my life had the need for a reusable straw… Since you have a full wardrobe of respectable clothes, would you not be in a café drinking out of a normal, washable cup?! Interesting, anyway, different folks, different strokes…

😂 I have sometimes thought this myself 😂. However whilst I am thrilled that there has been a ban on plastic straws in most places, I like to drink quite a lot of iced lattes and the paper straws just disintegrate 😂 so I actually use my metal straw maybe more than the actual utensils. But I like to also have the utensils 🍴 and lunchbox for sometimes taking take out home. As I tend to have a small appetite so it’s nice to not waste the food and take the leftovers for later. I think since this video - I’ve definitely streamlined a little bit. I suppose at first we think we need a little more than we do 😂

@@SagelifeMinimalism Low waste is always a good principle! And yes, I'm sure you'll whittle things down as you go. I hadn't thought of lattes, we tend to drink "normal" coffees/espressos out of cups in Europe rather than the tall coffee drinks (which come in a tall glass); the American to-go habit is less common here, people take time to sit down for a few minutes rather than carry it around. No doubt you'll adapt to that as you go, too!

I’d back your little items in the tin box to save space and keep your paper file in the zip compartment of your luggage. I’d also keep your passport in your personal item so it’s easy to get out for TSA. And, if you used compression packing cubes you can keep things together and if TSA decides to go thru your luggage ( mine has been gone thru twice), then your things aren’t hastily repacked and all messy. I enjoyed your video!
@SagelifeMinimalism
@SagelifeMinimalism 2 года назад
Yes I think putting the passport in the main compartment was an oversight. Really I was just attempting to show all my items would mainly fit in the suitcase. Good idea about the paperwork section. If I didn’t pack my liquids and small items in a clear bag in my personal carry on purse - that’s a fab idea to put it inside my metal lunchbox . I don’t really personally like packing cubes as I’m torn between thinking they take up extra space and wondering whether I have enough of certain items to organise them via category. I’d probably end up forgetting what was in each packing cube 😂. Thanks for your tips on some space saving ideas 😊

Hi yes of course, I got mine from curry’s as Amazon don’t appear to have any left. I think curry’s may now be out of stock too but at least this link will give you details of the model: www.currys.co.uk/products/asus-zenbeam-latte-l1-hd-ready-portable-projector-10224863.html also here is my other projector, that is almost as small. And since I got this projector, nebula have brought out an even smaller one in the range, I will also link that, they’re by the brand anker which as very good. www.johnlewis.com/nebula-mars-ii-pro-hd-ready-smart-portable-projector-500-lumens/p5455913 the newer upgrade 😊 > www.johnlewis.com/nebula-vega-full-hd-smart-portable-projector-500-lumens/p5457569

Cool. Surprised your not ranger rolling everything possible. Once I started that habit I didn't stop.
@SagelifeMinimalism
@SagelifeMinimalism 2 года назад
I don’t like doing the ranger roll or konmari method when I’m trying to get a lot in a small space. I think it looks organised and smart in drawers etc or if your just taking a small amount on a trip. If I’m packing a lot, I like to just roll up as tightly as possible as I think it pushes the air out and keeps it out. Like a kind of vacuum effect. Making it possible to fit more stuff in 😊 🧳

Am I wrong or you don’t really have clothes for winter ?
@SagelifeMinimalism
@SagelifeMinimalism Год назад
I basically layer so I will wear a vest and a long sleeve top. I have a shirt that is quite thick that I will wear over these. I usually have a fleece that I wear all the time in the winter. I’m not really a fan of jumpers as my waist is quite high. I have a long leg to torso ratio 😂 so I opt not to wear jumpers. As I’m not use to looking sort of boxey when I wear them. So in answer to your question not in a typical sense no. 1 big coat, 1 thick fleece and 1 thick shirt. I think I’d just decluttered a few things before this video. As I have so few items. Usually my clothes are worn out from season to season so I can typically recycle or declutter clothes that have had the most wear every 6 months. 😊

What is the make up item you use for cheeks, lips and eyes please?
@SagelifeMinimalism
@SagelifeMinimalism Год назад
It is by the brand revolution and they call it a colour pot. I have the colour peach breeze 🍑. It’s similar to a traditional rouge pot. 😊

@@SagelifeMinimalism Thanks for replying. Bit like Bobbi Browns Pot Rouge! Can I suggest using Lush shampoo and conditioner bars on your hair which isn’t classed as a liquid, rather than Dr Bronner as that is and will strip the hair of moisture over time.
@SagelifeMinimalism
@SagelifeMinimalism Год назад
@@sueskiing hi again Susan 😊, I have tried shampoo and conditioner bars before but they seem to deteriorate really fast for me. I do use the almond dr bronners which I think is not quite as drying as the others, as it has almond oil in. I also do homemade hair masks that I may discuss in a future video. It may be worth me trying a lush bar as I do enjoy trying new things so thanks for your suggestion. 🧼

@@SagelifeMinimalism great, speak to a staff member and they will recommend one that is suitable for your hair type, that’s what they did for me.
