What I love about you is how you are a movie fan NOT just a blockbuster fan. You will even watch 1960s stuff! Whatever appeals to you, no limit. Thank you for being such a beacon of light for films.
I'm so excited you watched and responded well to Femme! It's such a hidden gem and my #2 favourite film of 2023 and I've been singing its praises since. The director did a live commentary track at Soho Horror Fest this year (and I mat have sneakily recorded it to listen to later... shhh...) I was surprised by both yours and Nightmaremaven's reaction to Dinner In America about the first 40 minutes being hard to watch, I didn't have that experience, or at least I don't recall that being the case, I just remember a lot of laughter in the cinema. But maybe that's rose-tinted glasses because of the latter half haha, might have to rewatch. I really enjoyed that same director's new film Snack Shack that just came out a few months ago too.
I'm new to your channel and I got to say, THANK YOU! You are very Educationally Talented, when it comes to Communication. The way you describe and share your experience with these movies is Amazing🙏 Yes, I definitely subscribed :)
She is AMAZING very educated in communication. I love the way she describes every movie she's watched, just enough information to get you intrigued, but not too much to give the movie away. I've watched quite a few horror genre, RU-vid channels, and none of them compared to hers. She's the only one I subscribed to.
1. The Wild Robot 2. Transformers One 3. Rebel Ridge 4. My Old Ass 5. His Three Daughters 6. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice 7. Speak No Evil 8. Wolfs 9. The Killer's Game
Dinner in America is the most and best romantic film I have ever seen 😅💛 I love it so so much. But different strokes for different folk haha 💛 I really enjoy your monthly wrapups and I always put some movies from it on my own to watch list.
Take out the romcom element, make kyle ghalagers character a more paternal figure and the girl younger, add a santa suit instead of the punk theme and you just get Bad Santa again, even ends the same way
Dinner in America is one of my favorite movies! But I’m gonna have to rewatch it again, I don’t remember it being that disturbing 😂 I just love me some punk rock love ♥️
I wish i could! 3XL is what the sizing of the brand we print on goes up to which we made sure we stocked. We only have a limited amount of stock as its run by a small at-home family business, not a huge warehouse. Thank you for your feedback I'll pass it on.
Just wanted to say, I looooooove your content and I'm so happy that your set-up isn't in front of bookcases full of dvds and annoying lights. So much cleaner and pleasant to watch!
Death Becomes Her has a new live musical version coming to Broadway! My friend saw it in previews and said it was really good and the effects were well done
Thanks so much for your list of September films, Emma. I will say that there is nothing wrong with criticizing an "old classic". I love older films, but there are some that are beyond boring and predictable. How some films got to be "classics" (and not in the so bad, it's good category), I will never know. Even Hitchcock has plenty of bad films in his filmography. All that said, here are some of my September highlights: BETTLEJUICE BETTLEJUICE (2024) - score 5/10. The look of the film was vintage Tim Burton, but the story was pretty average. THE BLACK CAULDRON (1985) - score 8/10 - Disney's first PG cartoon and I still love its dark fantasy tone. SPEAK NO EVIL (2024) - score 6/10. I agree that it follows the original closely, then goes in a whole new direction in the third act. James McAvoy is great. GREEN FOR DANGER (1946) - score 9/10. One of the best murder mysteries ever made and a fantastic cast. Alastair Sim shines as the Scotland Yard inspector. THE WILD ROBOT (2024) - score 7/10. This animated film surprised me with its heart and mature storyline. THE HOUSE THAT DRIPPED BLOOD (1971) - score 7/10. Horror anthology done well. Of course, both Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing are in the cast. ODDITY (2024) - score 6/10. I'm going to get in trouble for this one, but I think Oddity is overrated. The buzz was it was "better than Longlegs" and while it was intriguing, the story kind of plodded along to get that 90-minute running time. I feel it would have been better as a one-hour Thriller episode. On the TV front, I'm currently enjoying the spooky classics like The Munsters and Scooby-Doo.
Thanks for the info on your merch, just bought an awesome looking hoodie. Also, love your movie recommendations. They always introduce me to something new and I used to consider myself a connoisseur, but apparently am not :P
putting some of your recommendations (The Front Room defo!) on my to-watch list: Femme and Eight Eyes caught my attention in a special way. Thanks as always!!! ps. so happy we are in a season of the witch again! the best time of the year - yay!
I liked Apt.7A because it was more of a backstory of the building, the people in the building, what they do, etc. because you see Rosemary at the end and those old folks lurking and leering at them. So to me, it's not her backstory per se.
Excited to watch your recommendations. I would highly recommend Starry Eyes. This one fell under the radar. It’s very unsettling and shows how effective horror can be even if you have a low budget. I would love to know your thoughts on this one
I'm so glad you watched Femme. It's brutal yet brilliant!!!! I bought the Blu-Ray just based on the premise, hadn't even seen a trailer. And I loved it!!!
OMG syncing your vids with "Redrum" haha....BTW I love your "Come With Me's", they're the best. :) Out of all the movies you mentioned I think I wanna see "Femme" the most.
Mommy Meanest looks like it wants to ride the coattails of Mommie Dearest. The font they used for the M is almost identical to the font in Mommie Dearest. At least they spelled Mommy with a Y.
Kathryn Hunter was fantastic in The Front Room!! Absolutely crazy performance! I didn't think the movie had enough horror elements and being a care assistant to the elderly, the scenes of her soiling herself were very tame compared to what I have to deal with on a nightly basis at work! They could have made her character more gross to be honest. Best new movies of September for me were Strange Darling (Finally got to see it!) and The Substance.
Not a bad movie, but I personally don't like movies with that many sex scenes. I'm good with one at most, but this had more than I had ever seen before lol.
Also just watched the new Speak New Evil and thought it was good. I def preferred the original bc that one ended in a dreadful manner while the new one of course had a more hopeful ending. Loved them both but the original was left with me for a while after I watched it.
I know I would have loved the remake more if I did not know about the original, I was just disappointed it didn't even try and go as bleak at the end, I knew Blumhouse wouldn't be able to do it
I’m from Indiana and I hung out in Gary Indiana a lot….I’ve been in that house before too Wait what!? They sell “The Substance”?? Is it supposed to be like the stuff in the movie??? I mean obviously won’t be THAT severe but what’s it supposed to do?? Death Becomes Her is one of my favorite movies!!
Awesome. Every time I watch your videos it always feels like we're connected through soul because I have almost similar reviews like yours Emma. You're my Soul friend. Big hugs. Love you 🖤☔🍂🧜♀️🌊🦪🧸🦄🍀🔥🧛♀️
Hey Emma, are you gonna watch V/H/S Beyond? I'm gonna watch it today and I'm super hyped. V/H/S is one of my favorite recent horror franchises because they deliver every year during spooky season :D I'm very interested in your thoughts on the new one.
Not sure if you're a gamer but one of the best horror games I've played in years is the new 'Beyond Hanwell'. So many Resident Evil vibes, but borrows from so many horror movies. Curious what others think.
Watching more horror movies with my mum recently, i have been trying to get her more into horror cause it's a genre she has avoided but the movies i have seen with her have not turned her away just yet, mainly watching stuff from the 80's so far cause the horror just isn't as graphic as it probably was at the time, watched The Hitcher with her yesterday
🧐 The hoodie talk made me wonder… Are there any Australian 🎃 Halloween 👻 movies set in spring/summer? I feel like ‘Western autumn’ is such a big part of the ambiance, it’d be cool to see a movie try to turn that on its ear.
I dunno who rolled their eyes at your job but I bet they don't realize how many hours all your things take. Also whoever they were may they be haunted by Jennifer's body, m3gan, and Alice from subservience. Lol
How are you able to watch Red Rooms? I'm in the US and having so much trouble trying to see it. Tried a VPN with no luck after trying multiple streaming platforms and different video sites.
Thank god someone not praising dinner in america, it an ok movie at best and i can't help but make some very clear parallels between it and Bad Santa, watch those movies back to back and you won't be able to ignore the similarities, it originality might be overstated
Dinner in America gained traction again because of Strange Darling and Kyle Gallner fans re watching Dinner in America posting about it, l actually really like it, but l also like Kyle Gallner so think that helps Black Narcissus really is a product of its time and l can see if you had never seen it and watch it now it wouldn't be enjoyable, that being said l really enjoyed the 2020 mini series
The deliverance was the worst movie I have seen in a long time lol. It was so strange. I also saw people say “this is gonna get Oscar nominations” 😂😂😂😂
Did anyone ACTUALLY find deliverance scary??? Or disturbing? Cuz I really sat though it from start to finish with no stop and I didn’t like it one bit nor did I find it scary at all! I did enjoy how the movie started Grounded The mom being the bad guy But then it gets to the supernatural and I got lost in it cuz it sucked
New movies I watched September 2024 -Sonatine -Beetlejuice Beetlejuice -Down By Law -Kill, Baby…Kill(1966) -Civil War -Au Revoir les Enfants -Charade -Labyrinth -Cape Fear (1962) -The Substance
