It is now 2023 and you are still an inspiration after 4 years You have helped me in many parts of my life without even knowing it And now I can make videos from what I learned from you and help more people, man❤
I'm about to finish your first book the subtle art of not giving a f and I've learned a lot things outta it, specially the "happiness is problem, you ain't special, value of suffering, chapters and the do something principal. Love your writing man it gives hope! Will buy this book as well. These two book will always be close to me. Love from India
I was blank before reading the book nothing much to do and recently I just quit my job to clear my backlogs and I planned many things to do but I failed to do a single things that I intended to do wasted everyday doing nothing and totally became a loser even I felt that I was a piece of s***t a life loser. One day my little sister suggested to read this book and told that this will help you to find yourself and now after going through half way of the book I really felt every single line. Thanks for the precise books Manson.
Strong men and weak men coexist, they don't inhabit separate periods of time. Hard times are created by sociopathic leaders who exploit the commoners to their breaking point. Weak men are by definition ineffectual, and cannot create anything.
This was the first book I seen upon walking into an airport bookstore thanks to my mother handing it to me. The humor in that title instantly clicked with me. I was considering reading something but upon inspecting what the book was about I was sold. I haven't read a book since I was a kid. Thank you for this read.
Just got it shipped! The previous one I'll keep reading and reading, again and again until I die! It's not a how to book. It's a mind-releasing book. Greetings from Brazil
This is very apt right now Mark. I look out of my window, live my daily life, etc, and there is no problem. Yet the media and governments of the world have been screaming that there is a problem for about 10 months now. Yet for me, and every person I've spoken to, if they hadn't been 'told' there was a 'problem', then they would never have known there was one. Surely if you have to be told, then there really isn't a problem?
The thing about the “ uncomfortable truth “ remembers me of the so-called truth panda i guess , that you mentioned in your previous book the subtle art of not giving a fu*k , keep it up legend
Everyone was always losing their minds even before social media came along , but social media has done a great job of exposing our drama and suffering that all of a sudden it felt like everyone is losing their damn minds ...
I look forward to reading this book, especially the chapters or sections on religion and why self-control is an illusion. I really enjoyed your last book, "The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck: A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Life" as the final chapter reminded me that life is constantly about reorienting what you want once you realize that death is inevitable. Anyways, thanks a bunch!
Nobody has to 'believe' in anything without evidence to set goals and achieve them. We can be convinced (may be to varying degrees) about the importance of hardwork, perseverance, integrity etc enough to value them, based on observation and experience.
I read the subtle art of not giving a F, and it's so great. I watched this video couple months ago and I put in my mind that I had to read this new book. Today I bought it near to the university and I'm going to start it now. I think it worths to spend time on it. You are such a good author Manson
Im up to the part where the guy set himself on fire. This book is so fascinating, it takes a while to get into it because the first part pissed me off but I understand the reason you had to start off that way
Woooooooooow I looooove love you. Just read your feed on google and had to come check you out on RU-vid. Funny thing is I was expecting an old very very experienced man(I see you have experience) you make me believe there's hope. 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦 from South Africa with Love
I am one of your fan for two books which I am bloody like it so much ( The subtle Art of not giving fuck , Everything is fucked ) I have it All. You have mentioned that the religion is the source of hope and I have concern about your kind statement. I believe that the reglion is the way to know the " The True God " which deserves to be worshipped.... and if you know the true GOD he will guide you and will light your way and your life. I believe that all of us is suffering from our " Materialistic Life " and " Virtual Life " which makes our feelings also virtual and fake. I believe the social media is play a vital role which convert our life to " Virtual and fake life and feelings " and I believe the best way to disconnect yourself from such platforms especially ( Facebook, Instagram, TikTok ) We need to recover our real life NOT the fake ones.
Done reading the subtle art of not giving fuck and I must say it's the best book I have come across so far when I needed it the most... it's people like you mark Manson that make this world a better😁 place
The idea that live is meaningless because Science tells us the universe is so big seems to me like a square peg in a round hole We have scientific descriptions of the objective material world but that isnt how anyone experience life Life is experienced in a personal subjective drama that we act out Providing the correct narratives for life come from Religious/moral/ethical narratices Aesops fables, the bible etc etc
I really enjoyed your first book. Looking forward to this next one. However I have to say that I disagree somewhat on your comments about religion. I’m a secular atheist. I science holds more sense in having a purpose however with the full acceptance that no evidence has ever been empirically proven for religion or spirituality as fact. Thanks for sharing!
Just finishing your first book now, but it didn't say much about solutions, and this video makes this book sound similar... Not sure I should pursue it, even though I agree with you on most of the problems. Without solutions, the problems are just the way things are.
There is no one solution, the book is for the reader to draw their own conclusion based on the way he describes life as being. He details time and time again, that the man describes purpose for himself, not the other way around. This is the solution, to live for yourself, unconditionally, and forget the pursuit of hope, but rather keep the pursuit of virtues.
I have brought this book but I haven't read the subtle art of not giving a f*ck, so are the two books anyhow connected? So that I will start with the first one or can I just start with this one?
+Mark Manson - yes hope is vital, as you so eloquently state. And so is seeing the world as it really is. #ExtinctionRebellion is trying to prevent the apocalypse and should be supported. Anti Nuke groups are trying to prevent the apocalypse and should be supported. These two issues are fundamental to all life on Earth. Hope should be channelled towards these twin goals if humanity is to survive.
