Modders are genuinely putting Taleworlds to shame with some of this content. Bannerlord is, on one hand, the greatest game of its kind, but on the other, it is very frustrating seeing so much potential while TaleWorlds have seemingly gone to sleep, leaving it to others to complete. Wasn't the last "big update" mostly the work of modders? The game should have so much more depth and substance than it currently does without modders needing to add basic things such as diplomacy, etc, in a game with kings and kingdoms all vying for power. I'm always down for the game, but liking something and wanting it to be great, from a base level, can be hard sometimes. I feel bad for the console scene, without mods, It must feel an absolute eternity before anything of substance gets added for them. Vanilla should be a complete formula, with the added enjoyment of mods, not mods completing the formula from the original sprinkle of what was presented as vanilla.
It's worth playing, it's just that it's got such a basic diplomacy system, and also you run out of things to do late game. It just needs more content that's it.
Base game campaign is worth hundreds of hours of gameplay. Multiplayer could be bigger, but the gameplay is amazing if you care to play the 3 populated servers.
When Mount and Blade first came out I was helping a guy write a mod that had the map with no kingdoms. Just 50 heros that would wander the map killing bandits, building strength and armies than take over villages and grow them into towns then cities. It was very promising but then Warband was announced so development stopped. 15 years later still kind of waiting for the form of M&B I really wanted to play.
You can completely change the outcomes of the war of the five kings, if you execute roose bolton, the red wedding never happens and Robb continued on smashing the Greyjoy’s and lannisters and usually by the time Dany comes round they both smash the Lannister’s, though the river lands is never saved in any game I’ve done
For the people complaining about how long these mods are taking, please understand that Bannerlord isn’t Warband. Assets take way longer to shape, texture, and test when higher resolutions and physics are involved. You have to make them for different graphics settings and test them to ensure they don’t cause frame drops or crashing. Code modification isn’t easy either. Basically none of Warband was hard-coded, and basically all of Bannerlord is. Even basic things that should be moddable, like the number of siege towers allowed in a scene, require insane workarounds to avoid breaking the game.
The main problem with the modding scene is that there are so few if any complete modspacks you can just pick up and start playing. If you look at the steam workshops there are barely any modpacks. And dont even get me started on nexus, when you finally have all the mods in the right order and the correct versions with the correct dependancy's they still crash you to desktop more often then not. This should not be such a big pain in the ass. If games like kenshi or Xcom where you can run 100's of mods without problem can do it then it should be doable for Bannerlord. I am just shouting into the void because this is so frustrating we all the the potential this game has so offer but what we got is just unfinished.
just yesterday I tried again to use banner kings, some fixes to fix the crashes and in the end after quiet hours it starts to have crashes for large battles. every time I go back to bannerlord I lose patience.
Looking forward for anything COOP related! In fact I delayed my purchase until it was heavily discounted because the base game did not get official COOP support even thou devs promised it at first
The new ADOD mod being worked on for a Game of Thrones setting in House of the Dragon looks incredible. They also have a sister mod that's looking to make a book-inspired War of the Five Kings mod too. The progress they've made in so short a time is crazy.
I wish Kingdoms of Arda would have made it possible to play early access-ish. I wouldnt care if the architecture and detail work wasn't done, as long as the factions and units where somewhat fleshed out, but I guess with the way they are overhauling the game and with the scope, that isn't really possible.. just feels like they have been working on it forever
I hope they port Suvarnabhumi Mahayuth into Bannerlord soon. That is my most favorite of all the mods from Warband. Where else do you find war elephants, samurai, arab warriors, and conquistadors fending off the armies of Great Ming? 😅
Theres a couple other game of thrones mods coming out too. A dance of dragons and ice and fire. They are based more off the asoiaf books and look really good.
On ps5 the game is basic and ncp’s are all the same they dont do anything. I thought there would be plots and assassinations. But it’s so boring. The battles are fun but after a sort wile the games got nothing . Way too basic. I hope the company fixes it .
You gotta create your own story. You are the plot. But I do understand, I just got the pc version coming off hours of ps5. Modding definitely helps the game be fully realized.
I hope Kingdoms of Arda gets released in the next 10 years while i'm still young. Every single LOTR mod for warband has died a horrible death, while there are countless shitty mods for warband and bannerlord. It's like some kind of a curse, maybe this time it will be different on bannerlord...
Man I love the 1996 fight mechanics. 4 moves to attack and defend, its tough to master. Really impressed with how they have improved from 8 byte to 32 byte
@Boots3962 Kingdom Come Deliverence is miles ahead and only lacks a sandbox mode. All that you mention fail, so picking the one that fails less is still picking a failure.
19:56 The only sad thing is that it now forces you to use Realistic Battle Mod, if you try to disable it via configuration the damage values are completely fucked.
Worth a mention, Darmalord, installed it the other day and ill say i was skeptical of it at first, but i dont think i could play bannerlord without it anymore lol. Its the 'smaller' mods like DramaLord, 'Marry Anyone', Family Control and more that actually make me stay invested in bannerlord. Obviously bigger mods like overhauls and things are really good, but its nice to have more depth into relationships etc. for when youre not at war or just messing about, imo it keeps the game enticing. On another note, TaleWorlds have to be the best worst developers ever, they literally made a game half baked and literally had modders finish it for them... Ive seen extremely advanced mods come out with only being in development for a month or so... Some even less!, just what exactly are TW doing over at their offices?... Big, big hats off to all the modders out there keeping bare, shallow games alive and making them 100x better than what the actual devs could ever do.
I really wish Taleworlds would stop updating the game. It just feels like they're impeding the modder's progress more than they are improving the vanilla Bannerlord experience.
In the Name of Jerusalem should increase the size of their map westward by like 40 miles. That's all it needs, just enough room to fit Tarranto and Bari, even if they aren't in the exact right spot. I want to start as the Normans, have a little stronghold, and use Bohemond to take the Eastern Roman Empire together! And that will be nearly impossible with only 1 city on a tiny, tiny boot heel of Italy.
Something I hate about bannerlord and the modeing area is how for lost of them you need like 5 submods to run the main mod, just super annoying when one them does not work and you have to go one by one to see the conflict
I'm finding an issue with Realm of Thrones, even though it says there are lords in the city, they never join the tournaments. My companions do not join the tourneys either. Any idea what could the issue be?

Ive never been able to get the GoT mod to work, which is odd because the WH fantasy mod was way more convoluted to setup by far, any help/reccomendations to try and get it to work? Its probably the only total conversion mod i havent played yet which is a shame because it looks really good
The only mod here I am truly excited for is the Japaneese one. There are soo many eurocentric medieval mods done over and over again it amazes me that nobody has even touched Ancient Ethiopia or Ancient India yet. Or the period where gun weilding forces would encounter civilizations that were still largely using medieval Era weaponry. Like the Zulu wars, on warband all of these concepts were explored to some degree but never truly realized instead we are getting the same large mods that were already perfected on warband again. Sighhh.
I love the concept of this game, but the combat is just so stale I can't seem to enjoy it. I wish it was more free-form like Mordhau. Still, these modders are making me want to put up with the lackluster combat...
