In my opinion, I don’t think Anxiety will necessarily be an antagonist, but I could be wrong, I mean just like how the first one there wasn’t any main villain, like some people thought Anger was going to be the main antagonist, but yes probably in the end of the film Riley learns it’s okay to be anxious at times just like how she learns to embrace the sadness, missing home in Minnesota, as well as even Joy learning Sadness’ role for Riley, realizing that people come to help because of sadness after seeing that old memory where Riley was sad after losing in a Hockey game and her parents and the whole team came to help and support her.

I don’t know if you saw, one of the Pixar writers made a post about Anxiety in the next film: Anxiety is a huge fan of Joy and looks up to her as a role model. So when she first got to headquarters she was really excited. Then she bottled up Joy and the others because the emotion she looked up to rejected her and made things worse for Riley. So it sounds like Joy is once again going to try to hog the spotlight, but it also sounds like a redemptional arch for her and Anxiety.

Little spoiler: The popular girl is gonna be talk bad behind Riley’s back.
