They just happened to be sitting in the field, outside the Rally, and saw the shooter climb the roof with a rifle. But there was an inexcusable security breach.

I have been here for 23 years, and I have never had the Secret Service failing or unable to poiled danger. if the eyewitnesses can see the shooter, how come the Secret Service on top of the surrounding building didn't see him?

@@sstills951I believe they’re talking about the reporters that can be seen running up there at about 1:20, give or take a couple seconds. Those are handheld cameras that will weigh like 5 pounds max, if Google is to be trusted. Even then, women can… lift weights to strengthen themselves in order to do their job? The shooter was on a rooftop outside the perimeter of the event, so there were no metal screenings for him to go through. Secret Service should be getting one hell of a dressing down for this obvious flaw in their securing of the event.

From what I see on a video if Trump would have not move his head towards where the shooter was, the story could have been completely different. But still someone died and there are 2 more injured. Very freaking sad to hear man. I think as a nation we can do better than this

Let me tell you the story of the Unknown Soldier. During the civil war, the last of a troop of the Confederate Soldiers was comprised of two men. A General of the Confederate army and a commandeered civilian. The General ordered the Civilian soldier forward to fight a Union Army group of soldiers. When the private saw that he was overwhelmed and about to be killed, he turned around, then shot and killed his General. Then the Union soldiers killed the private civilian soldier, thinking he was firing at them. Then when they found that he was a civilian soldier and that he turned and killed the confederate General, they decided that he was a Union civilian patriot. He had no name they could find on him, but they wanted to honor him anyway. So he was buried with a name on his tombstone saying: “The Unknown Soldier”. However unfortunately for the Union Army, they didn’t capture the Confederate General, so it was they were not able to extract any vital information out of him. So it turns out that the civilian private saved the General he killed from torture and shame. But there is another reality to this and what it means; The war did not end at Gettysburg, and the assassination of President Lincoln is evidence that it did not end even from that moment of time.

Position on guns has nothing to do with this... First priority is establishing who the shooter is and how it was possible for the shooter to get an angle to shoot in the first place given the security protocol. The security plan failed and the rat identified this failure point.
We need to modernize our security. The use of military IT staff that use drones possibly could have seen the shooter. This could have possibly prevented Mr. Trump and the others from being shot. Drones can cover more area than persons can. Also they have the advantage of observing the area from above. This could probably be in place within hours.
Can’t believe that he was inches from taking a bullet to the head.. grazed his ear.. that would mess me up for a long time. Thoughts and prayers to those who are in critical condition and to those who had to witness live and are now traumatized
