So awesome to have lived during this era!!! I'm extremely grateful for everyone who worked on this series. Thank you. You are engaged in bringing to life great good. You should each smile with pride knowing you're inspiring many to explore & develop their highest purpose -- to reduce entropy & chaos by doing what you Love.
I always have had the same mindset as him about technology and the future. Most people are so pessimistic about technology and the future and im always little surprised that people think so, do they get turned on on a bad future or what???
Nice production! I enjoyed that! Started getting interested in what more you guys have to offer / what CM stands for. I mean there is not the slighest hint of commercialisation: no adds, no request for support, no nothing. You guys got me curious! Well done!
This has been an amazing interview, and since I'm a spaniard I'd like to make some subtitles to share with people who speaks my language (about 600 million XD). So If you could activate the closed captions option it would help me greatly with the timing. Then I could send you back an SRT file so I won't have to upload the video again.
to me this is encouraging , one day in recent coming years it will only be the technology which will eradicate all the hurdles we faces today while doing something innovative govt. society, clerics, orthodox etc always opposes some great innovation come to existence but days are limited and not very far from today all these said in this video is going to happen certainly thanks Dr Peter daimendis for sharing such things with masses
thanks for the vid :-) I see a race to mine the planets here. Even with renewing the elements to make food and medicine continuously. The Land Owning Capitalists will want to retain power by charging a hefty primium to mine resources - to recoup their despotism.
The interviewer should have stopped the guy at 1:57 when he said, "Today the poorest of the poor in America still have Air Conditioning, a Car, and Cell Phone". Really, on what planet..? Try visiting San Francisco where the homeless defecate on the street. Proof that a very smart person can also be extremely ignorant.
What so far has the XPrize foundation actually achieved? I do not mean something that is a great idea, or in the works, or is coming soon. I mean what have they achieved that has actually lead to meaningfully improving the lives of many many people as promised? This great visionary organization, which has been around for years and promoted many projects must have something to live up to the hype Diamandis has been spewing out for the last few years, about how they are seriously planning to solve many of the worlds major challenges.
Interesting but I retain some skepticism ... Pros: An optimistic outlook - we could use quite a bit more of that some of the things are starting to happen already - very exciting Cons: sometimes slips back into old paradigms of out-competing/ wage labour/ etc doesn't adress the question of raw materials in enough depth.
This machine he talks about is AMAZING! So little electricity and makes SO much not only clean but injectable water! That inventor has got to get the noble price. Imagine the amount of lives he'll save.
I think we can be connected if we tune in to our surroundings and cultivate our senses, maybe even without the Internet ! Just like the shaman uses plants to see and learn about the world, so can we tap into the field of knowledge for inspiration and guidance. There are many ways to learn and it could be as simple as just looking at the relationship or interactions between people, plants and animals, to become an expert in relationships can take us further !!
The more i dig into this the more Diamandis appears as a is a brilliant chalatan, a hustler, a snake oil sales man of the first order, who uses his immense charm to sell us visions of what we want to hear...all the while making out like a bandit. If you want to feel better, read "Chicken Soup for the Soul", which at least is recognized as sentimentality.
Diamandis shows that we will have more time on our hands. Historically, what have folks done when they have more time on their hands? Turned to their vices. It will be an interesting (and fun if you like vices) future.
Paul Prusa this *historically* means higher death, suicide, mental illness, egoic dissonance, dis-ease, and crime rates..... Yay vices? It becomes war between artificial intelligence 'doing all our work' keeping 'all our health' records, growing our only source of food, and cleaning our only water supply ...and fixing their own glitches, while solar charging on their own accord....and our self-destructive vices..... Guess who wins that game. How fun! How abundant!
Eh, no, the government *should not* be taking these risks. Odd for someone who claims to be a capitalist to be saying that. They do it badly, and they're never accountable for it. Solyndra wasn't simply a failed risk, it was cronyism, pure and simple. Let the market do it.
I don't understand how he's scary. He's speaking about how our innovative technology will boost us into abundance. He even provides evidence to back up his statements.
yasou101 - He's only scary because you're projecting your fears onto his predictions about the future. It would be helpful to analyze the benefits instead of thinking of the things you fear and the negative things the future will bring.
