I'm just really pissed with how that guy ruined Jackson and Ally's happiness and life because he was only caring about the way Ally looks instead of listening to her music and the original lyrics she came up with. I wish that Ally would've rejected those things that her manager was telling her to do that hurted her and her husband and caused his suicide. The ending would've been happy and they would be singing together at her concert.

@Elisa Castro Just for the sake of you not taking away good feelings from others I'm going to point out that laws regarding sponsorships on youtube are VERY strict, which is why everyone on youtube has to explicitly state that it's a sponsorship. So no, it's not a sponsorship, and also most people, shockingly, give a shit about others. Jeremy I’m so glad you did this and put in the part about the suicide being chivalrous. When I saw this movie I got really angry at the ending because it felt wrong and lazy for them to just have the character commit suicide. Im surprised though you didnt mention how they never resolved the bit about Ally not being true to herself and how Jackson never communicated how he felt about that to her. Idk, there are a bunch of things in this movie that made me mad lol

Everything RIGHT with this particular sin addition: No matter how bombastically FAST you talk (and what a talent, seriously), you still took your time from entertaining us immensely when (starting at 13:48) you didn't gloss over the "almost chivalrous" and totally tragic ending that should've NEVER been romanticized in this version or any of the previous ones. You didn't "offend" and it is "important." I lost my brother to this. I just want to say THANK YOU. Also, I am hold-my-hair sick of that song too--the first 10 blechtrillion times I heard it.

@no no It hasn't "been repeatedly shown." There are a few studies suggesting they aren't helpful on average, but those also tend to have methodological oversights that defeat the purpose of the practice (e.g. the study referenced in Psychology Today was conducted with the general public, not specifically trauma victims, despite trigger warnings mainly existing for trauma victims). That and it's pretty fucking daring (to say nothing of unscientific) to just make the blanket statement that they "don't help" despite that obviously being empirically not the case. You come off as one of those people who just declares science to be on the side of whatever you happened to already believe because you self-identify as "rational."

I’m so grateful you included doesthedogdie.com and a suicide hotline! when i saw this movie, it was days after discharging from a mental hospital and i was completely blindsided by the ending. i left the theater and nearly attempted overdose again, but i called that exact number for the first time. it was so considerate of you guys to share that, so people like me can know and protect themselves from very triggering scenes.

I appreciate the Suicide Prevention part, even though Im from Brazil. I just watched this movie and it meant a lot to me. Very similar life story, including one attempt and a divorcee from the only woman I really loved.... i been strugling with depression and fighting against my own demons for the last 2 years. Watching the ending to this movie meant a lot. I mean, the lyrics from the final song fits perfectly, plus living with guilty regarding the past and afraid of screwing the future... I was not sure if the movie was painting suicide as the noble choice there and that disturbed me a lot. Nice to see this video and comments below. Life goes on

The fact that you pointed out the suicide and gave the name of the “Does the Dog Die” app means the world to me. Long story short, my brother took his own life this year, by hanging, and it is so so painful to have no warning in movies and TV but this app has been my saving grace thank you so so so so so much for this. It is not widely advertised enough. Thank you for dropping the hotline. To survivors of suicide, both those who attempted themselves or lost loved ones, and those of us who struggle with mental health, this stuff means more than you know.

I don’t think the conversation with Rez was the main driving force to jackson’s Decision. He was recovering but he was fading into obscurity, in the music world, still had a troubled relationship with Alley, and his previous history of sudicide attempt(s) is a constant risk factor. As explained by the celling fan incident and hinted at near the beginning of the movie with the electricinic sign showing a noose.

This movie went into detail about his suicidal tendencies he had a conversation about how he tried to kill himself when he was almost 13 and the whole him killing himself was foreshadowed in the very beginning when the billboard had all the nooses on it and he looked onto it I think that part also shows how he might have done it before had he not met Ally I'm sure there are more hints of what is coming at the end of the movie.

You didn't mention the camera framing in the last big performance scene! The camera man does like 20+ back and forward passes on the same 20 foot dolly track - once you notice it, it ruins the entire scene. Go back and watch it, I'll wait.

The nose joke in this version of the movie is a direct reference to Barbra Streisand in the previous version. I know somewhere there's a reference to the Judy Garland version, but I'm not sure where that is.

I think the movie did a great jobs on musical side, all the ost is well written and the singer are just so good ( I mean there is lady gaga but still cooper did a fantastic job too ). On the acting side, both Bradley Coopers and Lady Gaga did a fantastic job in showing the special connection between the main characters. The story is very good but not unique I think, still that left me with so much thought and grief for Jackson Maine. Overall, if you are a big fan of music and lady gaga, you definitely cant miss this, I would personally recommend everyone to give this movie a try.

it doesn’t endorse suicide at all. did i you even watch the movie. his suicide is clearly portrayed in a realistic, devastating way where the characters, especially Ally, are negatively impacted. i don’t see how anyone thinks the film glorifies suicide.

Damn, ouch, that suicide prevention part hit me really hard as a buddy of mine (who went by Charlie no less...) just killed himself last week, though he did a really great job of hiding his issues from everyone - including his wife - so even if this video had been a week earlier, it wouldn't have done much good in his case. Still, great job for using your platform with almost 10 million subscribers to reach out with such an important message and website. I've had doesthedogdie.com bookmarked to warn me about emetophobia triggers for a while now, so I understand what an important resource that is.

I love Cinema Sins. But this is my fav movie. And I’m just gonna say that you’re totally wrong with how fast the movie progresses. You can see by the size of the dog and how he grows that the film has the story line of at least 2 years, maybe more. Yes some parts of the film are fast, however it isn’t like it is “all done over night” (in a metaphorical way) like you said. I would say the movies only fault is not hinting at any time line for the viewer to know

Thank you for putting the hotline number up. The maturity you showed in that scene meant a lot. For a male, this film deeply highlighted the complexity of depression and suicide, if we shame, even a fictional character for this, men won’t come forward. Not saying what the character did was right, but our reaction can’t be “what a dickhead” it needs to be “I wish he just TOLD HER HOW HE FELT”
