I've tried to get my dad to watch Rogue One for about a year now, and he's refused on a regular basis. About a week ago, I finally found out why: he watched cinemasins video for it and used that as a basis for how good Rogue One was. It's the first time I genuinely got pissed off at Cinemasins.

Jeremy doesn't have arguments. What Jeremy says is stupid. He knows how to work clickbait and make a ton of money, so I can't say that he, himself, is stupid, but what he says in these videos certainly is. Birdman is far superior in his understanding of film, and is the Darth Vader to Jeremy's Director Krennic.

Hey man, great video. Sorry to nitpick, 4:30 Kyber Crystals have technically existed since 1978, they were introduced in "Splinter of the Minds Eye" by Alan Dean Foster. However they were removed after the EU purge. So what you say is true... From a certain point of view.

(apologies for the very very late nitpick) - The Kaiburr Crystal in that book is not the same as the Kyber Crystals that have appeared from a 2012 episode of the Clone Wars onwards. The crystals that are currently known as Kyber Crystals used to be known as Adegan Crystals.

Not sure if you know already, but in-universe, Adegan Crystals were used first, then the Jedi discovered Ilum and the crystal deposits there were almost identical, as well as being far more plentiful, so Ilum took over as the primary source of lightsabre crystals for the Jedi. While Adegan Crystals can be any colour, Ilum crystals are always blue or green. If memory serves, Mace Windu's purple lightsabre used a Hurrikane Crystal. And in the pre-Disney continuity, the Sith used synthetic crystals; a process that defaults to red, none of this "bleeding" nonsense.

Even worse about CinemaSins' Death Star weakness sin, it shows how little they actually paid attention to what Galen said. The weakness wasn't the exhaust shaft; that would have been there anyways, since you need to vent excess heat. No, the weakness was in the *Reactor* itself. He even says that he hid his trap inside the reactor, and that even one explosion would set it off. *That's* the trap; not the exhaust port. Had he not intentionally designed a time bomb of a reactor, had the Rebels managed to fire a torpedo down that exhaust port, it wouldn't have done the damage that it did.

Yeah and a lot of people say that it was an obvious weakness yet fail to realize they only found said weakness upon seeing the schematics. Which means they would not have found the weakness otherwise. So, by definition, that means the weakness was NOT obvious. I mean take avatar the last airbender for example. In the episode “The Drill” the fire nation was about to use a giant drilling machine to bypass Ba Sing Se’s outer wall so they could invade the city. The earth benders were having no luck battling it from the outside. It’s was made to withstand whatever was thrown at it. Sokka then got the idea from hearing Katara talk about how Ty lee beat the Terra team. So what did they do? They snuck aboard the machine, got its schematics, and found its weakness in the structure of the drilling mechanism. So it’s like was that weakness obvious? They did the same thing in Star Wars A new hope. Does that make sense?

Honestly Rogue One is probably my favorite Star Wars film barely beating out Empire just due to that Vader scene alone. No other film has shown such a beautiful scene like his entrance at the end. Just the crimson light illuminating the faces of the rebels as one by one they get slaughtered is exactly what I pictured as a kid reading the EU.

Do want to put my two cents in: even if the exhaust port was the weakness, the Imperials wouldn't look twice at it, since the Death Star creates a lot of Heat they would not think it would be a weakness since the core could get so hot that it would literally cook everyone inside the station in a matter of minutes.

I would also like to put in my two cents: like Jeremy, everyone keeps calling this weakness blatantly obvious but miss one very important detail. They needed the Death Star schematics in order to find it. I’m pretty sure if a weak point like that is blatantly obvious, you wouldn’t need to see the inner workings in order to see it. I don’t get why this exhaust port gets looked at as blatantly obvious.

He didn’t steal the video idea. Every popular movie gets sinned by CinemaSins. Jeremy would have done the “Everything wrong with Infinity War” video even if Birdman didn’t do it. Also, Birdman’s Infinity War video was humorous satire where he wasn’t serious about his criticisms. CinemaSins, on the other hand, actually was serious about his sins and criticisms, like it wasn’t pure satire

4:40 I love that you love the lore. Kyber crystals were around long before 2012. This was a thing used in the Star Wars MMO galaxies that released in 2004, and I don’t believe that was the first appearance either.

The line "the strongest stars have hearts of Khyber" (that's how my autocorrect wants it to be. Khyber) has also another meaning, besides the obvious death star in the room. Her father called Jyn "little star". Wich allowed specifically her to find the file in the archives. Additional metaphysical meanings do also exist. But the connection between her and her father is why she looked back when he said that line.

I love this movie. Yes it has a lot of flaws but the sacrifice put into getting those plans was shown very well & enhances A New Hope. Were the characters rushed? Absolutely, but I still feel for their deaths because the outcome is worth it

Back then they were still known as Ilum Crystals or Adegan Crystals (depending on whether or not they were found on Ilum). 2008 Clone Wars changed the name.

One thing you forgot about the sin concerning Obi-Wan is that Leia’s message to him clearly states that she intended to find him and being him to her father on Alderaan. This is something that is flat out said by her in the original film and Jeremy just seems to have either forgotten about it or wasn’t paying attention.
