IIRC Steven Caple Jr. recently said that he considers the original 3 Bayformers movies canon, which is unfortunate cause it restricts some of the storytelling possibilities for these movies. Give me Steve Blum reprising his role as Starscream, damn it!

I will say at 16:34, you can interpret that as "Rollout!" being the command to "let's get going!", and "Maximize!" being the command to "transform and fight!". Hell, Optimus Primal does in fact say "Maximize!" mere seconds later to his Maximals. And yes, as a long time _Transformers_ fan, you even notice this in the cartoons/games, even last movies. When Optimus Prime says "Rollout!", they have almost consistently just transformed into vehicle mode and drove to the next scene, fight, etc etc.

13:34 - The only example I can think of is in The Last Knight where they showed Bumblebee in WW2 as a gray car whereas he later becomes yellow when changing into a different vehicle (usually a yellow Chevrolet in the Michael Bay films)

Because people, including Birdman here, apparently don't get it: BUMBLEBEE AND RISE OF THE BEASTS ARE NOT PREQUELS TO THE FIRST BAYVERSE MOVIE!!! It's made clear almost immediately when Bee, at the very least, lands on Earth after WW2 in this timeline, where he was present during that time period in the Bayverse. Same with Unicron not being Earth in this timeline while he was in the Bayverse. Just because it's live action, doesn't mean they exist in the same universe. And before someone decides to be a smartdonkey, Starscream, Shockwave, and Soundwave were in their G1 designs at the Start of Bumblebee, why would they change them to the drabber designs in the Bayverse, since last I checked, most Cybertronians (coughBlitzwingcough) have designs closer to their G1 designs. Bee's camaro design just happens to be way more iconic then his original Volkswagen Beetle design from G1, and at least he has the Beetle for an alt mode at the beginning of his tenure on Earth. I rest my zoggin' case.

Honestly, if you completely disregard the mountain of crap _The Last Knight_ dumped on the continuity and pretend none of what it set up is canon, _Bumblebee_ and _Rise of the Beasts_ fall in line pretty well with the Bay movies. Just assume the Maximals were somewhere else for the entirety of the 21st century

This and Bumblebee are in a new continuity. I know that the producer will continue to say its all connected but its just not true. The original ending to this movie had Prime sacrifice himself and get picked up by Unicron. So every time he says we know that characters will live we really don't.

Also, another sin on the original video: This movie is in a reboot universe not connected to the Bayverse. Bumblebee and Optimus being in those films have no say on their mortality. And even if they were connected, all the Autobots were in the Michael Bay movies anyway(aside from Stratosphere, who wasn't in any combat in this movie and couldn't have died). Prime and Bee were in all films, Arcee was in Revenge of the Fallen, and Mirage and Wheeljack appear in Dark of the Moon(though they gotten renamed last minute, due to getting leaked. They still had their original names in all the marketing and merchandise. Mirage was renamed "Dino" and Wheeljack was renamed "Que.") If this movie was connected to the Bayverse, all these characters would be immortal for this film.

the sin at around 7:25 bugs the hell out of me because he didn't even bother googling to see the previous transformers movies, especially the first five, were made by completely different teams. the bb movie and rotb are a soft reboot BECAUSE the bay-directed movies were falling off and they decided to try a more emotionally-grounded and stylish direction. i know your average joe isn't gonna have deep knowledge of transformers lore or get why the names are silly, but for a "movie reviewer" to say something so obvious without even bothering to check or stop and think WHY this movie might be so different from the previous ones really grinds my gears

It’s called “convergent evolution” Jeremy. Similar environmental factors or biological requirements drive similar evolutionary trends. Take two forward-facing eyes for example. Depth perception is a significant advantage for predators, and the simplest way to perceive depth is through binocular disparity, or seeing the same object from slightly different perspectives and comparing the images to estimate distance from the object. Two eyes are the minimum number required and since evolution tends to be frugal, and predators tend to hunt food in front of them, two forward-facing eyes will often be the visual baseline for predatory animals. 14:59 I find it odd how he’s confused at the possibility of there being something that isn’t Autobot or Decepticon Like- yeah, there are numerous factions, such as Maximals, Terrorcons, Insecticons, Predacons, Dinobots, etc etc etc, all as their own “teams” with different icons - hell, Scourge in this movie is covered in faction symbols from Cybertronians he’s killed in the past, which the movie draws attention to, so you’d think even he could pick up that their are more than two groups that come from Cybertron… but then again, he *did* state that he doesn’t care about this movie, so he clearly didn’t pay attention because he knew he’d get the views regardless of the quality :/

I was sure that these new movies are a reboot of the Transformers franchise, but now I'm hearing that these are somehow supposed to be connected to the Michael Bay films. Are these reboots or not? I'm just so confused
