It is pretty obvious that twilight had something to do with the crystals. Theory! Twilight gave up because she watched all her friends die including spike. And we saw how far Celestia was after Luna was banished.
To me the success of the upcoming series depends primarily on if and how they make use of the lore between g4 and g5. There's a lot of storytelling opportunity to work with if they choose to use it.
G4 was told throughout 10 seasons. The story has been told. They don't need every aspect of G4 to connect with this new generation, otherwise it's just G4.5.
Horses and ponies do actually grow facial hair, so them having beards isn't out of the realm of possibility, I've met quite a few horses with mustaches, I have photos too.
_"How bad did Twilight f*ck up that we've regressed this far that can't can't even accept other ponies?"_ This was I think, for me at least, the biggest "sin". We spent 8 seasons watching them unify the entire world and its various races. The way they just up and erased every non-pony species in clearly the same world for this story only undermines the entirety of FIM's message of "Friendship's magic can last the ages". How do the writers expect me to link Sunny's belief in the Mane6 to her being The Chosen One when the same story is telling me apparently Twilight couldn't make lasting change to the world with that messaging?
I liked this movie, but like Moliminous said, at some points it was a mess!After I watched the movie, my first question was:"Wait, why did Sunny became an Alicorn?She literally gave up while her friends tried to convince her otherwhise".And while yes, you can say that it was because she had faith from the start, Izzy literally walked in Sunny's town unhinged, so you can say she wasn't racist too.And second:why wasn't Sprout punished?He didn't even apologized to Sunny or others, he just asked his mom if he was a bad sheriff, and she responds with a bad joke.Really?
Well Sunny was the one to push for everyone to be together and thus igniting a huge surge in magic. It's not just challenging tasks that cause Alicorn births, it's also really large heaps of magic as we saw with Cozy Glow becoming an Alicorn as well as Luna and Celestia becoming Alicorns for taking over the Moon and Sun. Plus her wings and horn are pretty transparent so it seems like they're not permanent. Secondly, Sprout wasn't punished because the laws in Maretime Bay are clearly fucked. Sunny has broken many rules apparently and was constantly given leeway and bailed out because she never actually endangered anyone. However, Sprout did all his bullshit while he was in charge so who's gonna punish him? Himself? He clearly has no remorse for trying to hurt Sunny nor destroying her home so he's not going to apologize for something he doesn't feel bad about. Plus his mom just didn't know how to respond to his weird state and brushed it off for later.

there is a theory that to become an alicorn you need all three types of magic, unicorn, pegasas and earth pony. and since at that time all three objects was filled with those magics, it surrounded sunny and sunny kinda absorbed it
Also she is probably the worst mother Ive ever seen. Her son obviously has some kind of mental problem and she just walks away from him like 'haha funny moment no thanks'
About the hair scrunchie thing I can say from experience, both hair ties and scrunchies disappear whenever you look for one to put your hair up, they magically poof out of existence whenever you need one, so the scrunchie scene makes sense, it helps to have a drawer filled with them for those inconvenient moments where you need to go somewhere and want your hair up, but don't have enough time to search your entire house looking for one.

But here’s something that kinda makes me mad, It’s the fact that In the series of my little pony, twilight had to learn the hardest spell in the book, and all Sunny has to do is really bring 3 species together and say we are friends

Ok wait does Sunny becoming an Alicorn imply that twilight fucking died and without an alicorn existing magic itself would not exist? If that happened, then the whole thing with the crystals must have been the races trying to gain back their magic but the crystals ended up being temporary or just didn't work?
@Shadow Fireclaws honestly it’s possible that the wings and horn being transparent could mean that Sunny is on the path to being an alicorn, but I do hope we get an explanation for what happened to Twilight and why the crystals were separated.
@@holyboiamethin2790 Honestly my running theory is that Twilight is not dead, but sealed away somehow. I can name a few villains who would have the will/means to do so, like Grogar or The Mean 3. It would be interesting if the special or the first season can go into it.

Well with new information from others showing things we might have missed. I think something is definitely wrong in the north. But if magic was removed completely I don't think we would have seen the cute white fluffy dog fluff it's wings when crashing into Hitch. We did see in season 7 or 8 that the Bugbare, hydra and many others changed int components of the creatures making up one magical one. So I still think Twi made the Crystal Emblems to seal pony magic for whatever reason. Although having a older Twi around would be cool. Could help bringing Discord in. Hmmm... well like the thought on that.
Apparently the pages show them all as "deceased", like- all the mane 6 AND all the alicorns? *it doesn’t make any sense* so maybe a villain sealed them away somehow, like people are saying OR a villain defeated them all or something. Must’ve been a strong pony

Probably the citizens rebel and overtook the castle. Thinking that she cares about her citizen or save her reputation that she decided to let herself get arrested. The only difference of queen haven and kim jong un is that one of them cared enough to be held by strings to give hope to their citizens. She showed that she had magic which probably means she promised that with the royal family magic, they'll protect the Zephyr Height until it's revealed that was a lied cause royal family doesn't have magic and that promised and the vows they made is a lied to be in power. Well, since both Zipp and Pipp is critical in the return of magic and Queen Haven meet with the representative of Earth Pony and Unicorn might be seen as diplomatic action after she's banished from her own kingdom, they'll probably returned to power as royal family of Zephyr Height.
No sin for how in the young Sunny to older Sunny transition at the start, Sunny apparently got rid of her Spike plushie. Even across generations, Spike is treated like trash by ponies?
What I want is for his relationship with his mother to be addressed. It seems like she's been grooming him all his life, and I hate that it gets played off as a joke. And maybe Sprout will face repercussions. We'll have to wait and see what happens in the series.
Ok, i really HATE to counter one of your BS's. but... mountains have something called Updrafts. powerful winds that blow up the sides of mountains. These are used by hand gliders, gliders, and such to climb in altitude. its likely she jumped into an updraft it carried her up there, she spun and landed. Cities too can have powerful updrafts created by winds being funneled down streets then "hitting" a building and going straight up.

I think the problem is that not everyone knows this, so unless you know about Updrafts then sure, it looks like a Pegasus who can't fly is flying. One or two added lines of Sunny or Izzy pointing them out would have done the job to get everyone on the same page while also setting up some foreshadowing for the later reveal.

For Izzy's 'it was you!' line to hold more weight, like a 1 second shot of Izzy looking down at the note, looking at Sunny and realizing they are the same colour would have been perfect
I enjoyed the movie, but there were tons of innaccuarcies which made me cringe. 1. I'm pretty sure even Earth Ponies have magic. They have the ability to gorw crops and tend to animals. 2. They seem quite lazy with the production. Seriously? Cutie marks on 1 side? I bet that Hasbro's doing. Their pony toys always only have 1 cutie mark. Then the colors. Many other colors exist. Why is almost everypony pink, orange, blue and purple? 3. Sunny is suddenly an alicorn? Twilight Sparkle had to do mulitple quests before she can even become one. 4. Does that mean that Sunny is now a princess? You need to do a princess worthy task to become one. Even so, what princess is Sunny of?
theres a theory that if you are surrounded and absorb all three magics, earth pony, pegasas and unicorn, thats what creates alicorn magic, and thats how alicorns can be made. and since the artificats are made of those three magics. i think some of its power was absorbed, or maybe temporarily absorbed, by sunny. yet its only a theory. also 2. i kinda dissagree with the lack of production, their models are more than impressive amazing even. with g4 the characters where made with puppet animation(not sure if thats the right term to say), aka body parts where reused and they dont have to redraw and redraw them over and over all the time (i believe thats how its done. im not fully knowledged on that specific animation nore i dont have any exprience but someday i want to learn more). the reason why i say this is POSSIBLY (may not be) to blame is they never decided which side the cutie mark is actually on while g5 movie did. but again it may be hasbros doing like you said. i agree with number one, in g4 when terek stole all the magic, even earth ponies lost their strength to work with the earth. I think the crystals determined that she possesses the qualities of what it takes to become an alicorn but may have to go through further challenges or so to become a full alicorn. The horn and wings may be like a power up when she needs it in certain situations. People may find it disrespectful that she became one so fast, but,throughout her life she advocated for unity among the races and the movie's plot had her extend this with some signs of progression being seen throughout the ponies.
@@MrRubixscube No, I did not. Flurry Heart is Alicorn-born because her mom is one. I'm talking about Princess Celestia, Princess Luna, Princess Cadance and Princess Twilight Sparkle, who all earned their Alicorn status. I just find it unfair that Sunny is suddenly an Alicorn after 1 quest. Twilight went through multiple before she can become one.
Is there actually any proof that Twilight Sparkle and her friends existed in MLP G5 since they could be just made up stories just like the power ponies in an Equestria where the Earth ponies, Pegasus and Unicorn are all prejudiced on each other with no Alicorn before Sunny became one? But if they did exist, how come they were no mention, toys or monuments of Princess Celestia and Luna since they were the first rulers of Equestria?
There’s a lot of unanswered questions at this time but it is definitely the same universe and Twilight and Co. definitely existed. Just to name some random stuff: portrait of Starswirl in Sunny’s house, the name “Manehattan” visible in the old station that Zipp takes them to, then of course if Twilight and Co. didn’t exist you have to explain Twilight’s cutie mark prominently appearing not only on the journal but also in the old station.

Tbf I think the same, it's really weird that Sunny's dad knew /so much/ but no one else knew /anything/. That would also explain how they have crystals to represent each pony kind now even though they didn't have anything like that before. Wouldn't be surprised if Hasbo decided that G4 was just stories that Sunny's dad told her or more like it's not the same universe /because/ G4 didn't exist in G5.
That would also explain why the cutie marks in G5 are only on one side while G4 has them on both, even at the start of the movie, when they are playing with the figurines main 5 has them on both flanks.
@@Dorkomora maybe it's kind of ancient. I mean ...yeah they hadd some mychines in that time but now they have so much more advanced technical stuff. And since they're ponies who have short lifespans in comparison to humans it could be like ... anequivalent to 500/600 years (Imagine like horses have the possibility to live to their thirties. Humans at this time between 80 and 90 years ... and our technical evolution happenend in a time span of 150 to 200 years. )

Also the pegasus royals clearly have a secret service that helped them fake being able to fly. They don't seem particularly competent either, but maybe they could have helped Queen Haven escape. As for tracking the mane5 all the way to Bridlewood, I suppose that was the doggo's doing. Yep, it all makes sense, nothing to see here.
What's even more interesting than Sunny being able to quickly take her rollerblades off, then back on again, just so she could make a balloon Unicorn, is how she's able to use one of her rollerskates to hook onto the trolley as it passes by, and have it pull her.
The plot is messy, the characters don’t really have much going for them, and the ending is very unsavory. However, the animation is competent, and there were moments that genuinely made me smile. Over all, far from the best movie in the whole mlp franchise, but not the worst. There my 2 cents no one asked for, thanks for coming to my Ted talk :)
Like many lighthouses, hers probably became unnecessary once earth ponies developed an early warning system vs unicorn and pegasi attacks that also functions as a navigational assist.
Sunny seems to have turned the top of the lighthouse into a workshop of sorts, so it probably hasn't worked as a regular lighthouse for a long time. And that strange machine with slots for the crystals is sitting right where the beacon should be. Or rather, it *is* the beacon. Maybe that was never really a regular lighthouse to begin with.
actually truth is, this has a post apocalyptic feel to the world, rail lines have been reclaimed by the land, airships are gone, sea shipping had been shut down. Without intercity commerce, earth ponies fishing likely faded. No trade with other cities or countries, such as the griffins.. Since sea travel was likely shifted to small personal boats the lighthouse was no longer needed, and converted into a home. Essentially, what ever city you were born in, that was your whole life, your whole existance... you never traveled, never left, never saw or heard news from other cities...
@@DeckliStrater essentially, picture a world where something like, the Feather Flue outbreak really hurt the pegasii, and earth ponies and unicorns while able to carry it, weren't affected. What would the pegasii do? Self isolate, avoid other tribes, story and fear would start up and outsiders would be shunned for fear they could carry the infection. very quickly this could end with unicorns also isolating themselves... leaving the earth ponies to, fend for themselves... Parents tell stories to scare foals, to keep them from adventuring out into the world, to keep them from running into other tribes. If you see an earth pony run away... flee, don't approach them, they are unclean, they smell they carry desieses... etc... with the tribes divided by fear not hate things like the windago never appeared. as magic faided, the pegasi claimed the high ground, the unicorns were driven into the last magical place they knew, the everfree, and the earth ponies stayed in their community mostly oblivious.
I think we need to step back and remember the most important question: What the hell are the princesses doing? How did they fail so completely that not only did the sub-species separate, but they LOST THEIR MAGIC!?
@@burukkurinrein2151 right, and that's what I hate about G5. Like I seriously hate it, and maybe hate is an understatement. ALL of this buildup, ALL of these adventures and ALL of these problems, all for everything to just be forgotten about? What about Luna and Celestia, the first rulers of Equestria?! What about the Griffins, the dragons, ect, what happened to them?! What about the G4 villians, did everyone just forget about them? And how did all of this racism develop in the first place? Twilight had to do all of these hard things to become a Princess, meanwhile sunny just has to say 'you are a different race, and I am now your friend' and boom, she solved racism and she's an alicorn.. It's just so trashy, I can't even see the good parts about the movie since the bad just outshines everything.
Also like Moliminous said, where are the Princesses?! Celestia and Luna had lived thousands of years and didn't seem to be getting old by the G4 season 9 so I can only assume Twilight, Cadance, and Flury Heart should still be alive. Also for an alicorn 50 years in regular pony years is the equivalent of one alicorn year and considering that alicorns a lot longer than the regular pony race they should should still be alive. Also considering that Flury Heart is born an alicorn only means that she would live way longer than all the other princesses.
1:22 you do know that they are kids and G4’s events has been only told by her father as bed time stories? He obviously wouldn’t have mentioned that they occasionally used their magic against each other, if he even knew.
I'm willing to bet something big happened. A catastrophic event that would've shattered all of Equestria. And the only way to save it was to obliterate magic altogether. Twilight must've done something to save the rest of the world. I mean... the sun and moon don't just raise themselves. She has to be there somewhere. Or perhaps she passed along her magic to her successor. Hopefully the oncoming series will be able to explain it. It has a lot to live up to.
@@Yuli-ef3hg Well it is a fantasy universe so anything's possible. We all have to wait until the series come out. So until then, speculation is all we have.
I have an answer for the eye reflections because I noticed it too: Most objects when given a reflective source have a singular default image and it tends to be this image of a tree, which can be really jarring if you just don't turn on any ray-tracing (reflections being taken from the surroundings). It wouldn't be so bad if their eyes weren't up close to the screen a lot of the time.
I keep coming up with a theories of what possibly could've happened to make them not be friends. But the one thing I just can't figure out is where the hell are the Wendigos!?
I don’t think they appeared in the movie because there was no magic and the Wendigos were magical creatures and if they were in the movie than it would have been snowing

And in Equestria there is different types of magic Ancient magic, the magic of friendship, and the magic that makes up the mystical creatures. In Friendship is Magic Wendigos are referred to as Ancient magic
@@TheRealMarx maybe because there was no war. Just "fear" since in the christmas stories they fought against each other. Maybe for some reason there was a war. And the only way to defeat the wendigos was giving up magic.
@@lilysnape6520 In the season nine final there was no war and in the Hearts Warming special there was no reference to war just typical intolerance and lack of trust. Fear can be a big factor in lack of trust and intolerance. One possibility is they found a way to defeat the Wendigos. But judging by where it looks like this generation of MLP is going they're probably not gonna explain it. Like they introduced that Magical artifact thing in the new movie which has some pretty big significance but it's never mentioned in FiM we were led to believe that magic as a mostly natural power in MLP in Friendship is Magic
My issue with the story is well, if they're continuing it, what is next? They sort of 'fixed' the big main issue going on.. no magic, the types of ponys being divided. Soooo... now what? The only question left is how magic poofed in the first place. What I feel they should have done instead of rushing this plot along as they did and resolving it in the end, would instead make this a true intro to the new season. It could have been a nice plot point for the first season of the show to fix some of these issues? Make the movie about how the group came together and agreed to work on fixing what's wrong by being an example? That would have been a nice message for the times to not judge people based on looks, or 'race'. Then the show after could tackle the whole magic is gone, how do we fix it, can it be fixed. Instead of the 3 crystals just HAPPENING to be within easy reach the group could have needed to find what happened to them, slowly unlock more of the history of the world as they did, uncover the truths bit by bit. But as it stands, what reason do they have, outside maybe a side curiosity to even do that? Magics back, the three pony types are friends again.... yay... everything fixed! So............. what is left for any of the show to do after this?
What’s wrong with just doing slice of life episodes for a bit the way G4 did for most of the episodes each season? You don’t have to have a large overall plot planned out just yet.
While I get wanting a story to play over, I also believe they are going for a similar style to gen 4. Keep in mind during gen 4 my little pony most of the biggest problems (villains, missing magic, wars, etc) were solved over the span of an episode or two. This movie feels like the first two episodes of mlp, creating a conflict to bring the main characters together to solve it and go on to live life as friends. Mlp never had a conflict that went on for the entire last gen, and was mostly slice of life. I feel like its not a bad thing to have just a fun slice of life show with occasional conflict and villains.
Well, I talked to my sister about that, and she pointed out that we only saw three cities, total. And there's a whole rest of the world that is probably still having these issues, only they all have their magic back, that could be...really bad right now. Plus there's more than just ponies, and what happened to the Princesses? There IS stuff to work with, but...for a pilot movie, this really wasn't much of one.
New creators trying to milk the fandom by teasing us for a sequel. But they have way too many errors. I whole heartily agree with you, they even drew the plot out when it didn’t even need to be. This only needed to be 45 minutes but was longer to I guess see the new personalities in person. For a billion dollar company, the animation was great, plot-not so much. However, I think they want to explore earth pony magic in the future because of that short tidbit at the end with the foals. Cool, but not enough to get excited for. I just hope they do what you suggest to make the mystery worth it (gotta wait till fall 2022 for the series) and to get excited for. I was so pumped for this movie, but was disappointed with how they solved everything just like that, and smacked us with an alicorn bc Mary Sue? Ticked me off
@@TailsFanA lot of the cratures we use to see all depended, or were made of magic. If magic did poof for all, a lot of them may no longer exist. Plus it's been how many 100's of years? So much time has passed that they didn't even recall how other pony types were, or heck, that they didn't have magic either. The big issue is, well put yourself in this world, growing up with these ideals. Yes we had ONE character whos only goal was to make friends with unicorns and pegasus thanks to her dad, the magic thing was sort of a side plot. But what reason does anyone have to even start wondering what happend to other species? Do they even know they use to exist? Are they nothing but fary tails? It would be as random as you suddenly going "I wonder if farys exist?" why would you ever have such a thought? My worry is just that kind of randomness is going to start on the past of 'where are dragons?' sort of deal... because from what we sene of this world, outside somew random curious thought, no one has a reason to really dive into any of this.
Wait, wasn’t twilight ruler of Equestria for some time, and grew massively tall with flowing hair and a crown and whatnot? Then why are her figurines of when she was a young adult?
Ok something I low-key hate about the letter-sending scene is that Sunny's father, who has repeatedly failed to convince other earth ponies that all three ponies species were once friends, saw nothing wrong with telling pegasi/unicorns to come to Mare Time Bay. Maybe he thought the letter wouldn't get very far but regardless, it was dangerous and stupid
I’m pretty sure that it’s supposed to take place many years AFTER G4. My guess is that possibly the Mane 6 and the princesses may be locked away some where. As for the magical crystals not being in the original my guess is that sometime during Twilight’s rule, Twilight may have had to use her magic to stop some sort “evil” that may have targeted the magic and that Twilight may have sealed the pony magic in the crystals. There may have even been some sort of falling out between the Mane 6 after Twilight took over.

I really like your theory. It reminded me of when we saw the stuff happen with Tirek. When Clestia/Luna/Cadence learned that Tirek was coming after their alicorn magic, they met with Twilight to tell her that they would need to give up their magic so Tirek couldn't get it. However, they couldn't just easily get rid of it. The magic had to be stored somewhere. It couldn't just disappear. Which is why they transferred their magic to twilight. So taking your theory of storing the magic because of some evil. What if Twilight had to seal the magic inside of the crystals to stop an evil from obtaining it. If this were the case, then Twilight would be completely defenseless and could easily be taken over. Just like how Tirek locked away Celestia/Luna/Cadence. This theory only pretains to the magic though. We're still left with questions like why do the difference races not live together anymore and why do they hate each other? And what happened to all the other magical races that weren't ponies? There's still so many holes that I really hope we get some answers for
It always bothered me how the population of the different races seemed to decline between the events of G4 and G5. I would have though that there would be a much larger population of earth ponies and unicorns but they seem to be small whereas there seem to be a lot of Pegasi. Possible war?
The ponies only have 1 cutie mark because Hasbro got sick of Bronies complaining that the official toys were always off model by trying to save money by only putting 1 mark everypony so they were like "can't be off model if off model becomes canon."
I mean, the movie could be a spoof of the first one where the Terminator is a villain through and through. So, that means Sunny and others are directly responsible for their universe's version of Terminator 2 which is awesome.
I'm sick and when I'm sick I do weird things, but I didn't expect to find myself watching a grown man psycho-analyzing a kid's movie's plot and lore for 30 minutes lmao. Is this a brony thing..? I dunno. Respect to that dedication tho
While I love this movie if he doesn't bring up that the faces look weird from the front and (about) 45 degrees to the side we're going to have problems- Also the lip-sync was slightly VERY slightly off unless they were opening their mouths wide and closing then it was very obvious- Otherwise I found the movie great as it didn't really out weight everything else! Long live Sprout as our supreme ruler-- idk if anyone else likes him but I remember I didn't like him at first until I kind of listened to Angry Mob on repeat and he grew on me. Not a fan of the mama's boy shite tho. But it's a kids movie, I can't expect something too amazing.

Not alone. I loved Sprout throughout the entire movie, and the song made me love him even more. Though I feel like his character just bizarrely went downhill in an out of place way - would’ve much preferred if he wasn’t a villain and become part of the new gang. But yeah, not a fan of the mama’s boy stuff, but it’s not really his fault if you think about it. Half-hoping he gets a redemption arc, but he also needs to get arrested.

Firstly, I would like to say that they did have magic once. Izzy states that there was magic, then it just disappeared. It doesn't explain shy they're so good at flying, but they would at least have a little knowledge from flying or using magic as a kid. Second, you missed a sin. In Fit Right In the line "They take your hooves and then they grind them into midnight snacks" appears, with the image of Izzy eating marshmallow cereal. The joke there is that marshmallows are made from gelatin. Gelatin is made from ground up animal hooves (along with other stuff.) So when she's eating marshmallow cereal as a comparison for ground up horse hooves, they're literally comparing ground up horse hooves to ground up horse hooves
I feel like Phyllis is the mayor of Maretime Bay- a democracy overtaken by a monopoly kind of thing. The demonstration of the unicorn/pegasus catching devices would have been partly consumerism, and partly an unveiling of the security measures the mayor was putting up around town- which was why they were already installed, she was just making sure the civillians knew they were there. It would also make sense at the end- Sunny's picture being put back together by the three rulers of the three races would be more powerful than it being together by the pegasus queen, the most influential of the unicorns, and... some random capitalist.
Also about the unicorn with a British accent, I've had a couple friends born and raised in the US that have speech impediments that just make them sound "british", this would be my explanation for the single unicorn with a different accent
11:47 earth ponies rulers know that unicorns can not cast the spell, but they lie to earth ponies by saying that unicorns cast spells to draw attention from other problems (poor defense system a.k.a unicorn has entered in the city with no problems and absence of laws which prevent things like "flying with ballons" incidence from happening). I know this would make me be "that guy" but technically Ponies did always have just one Cutie Mark...the second one on the other side was just a limitation of the art medium of G4... Which is why we didn't get asymmetrical manes until the later seasons too, it was cheaper and easier to just horizontally mirror the animation assets

I’m gonna dispute several things, such as "where are the princesses?" They retired and left equestria in the mane 6’s care, the mane 6 we don’t know what’s going on with. The memory stone wallflower used was also canonically originally from the pony world, so it doesn’t prove eqg’s existence.
One of the things that boggled my mind the most is why in the hell the pegasi needed magic to fly. I mean sure its necessary for the plot and whatnot but I think that these ponies capable of building this huge society and evolve so much would understand physics. And heres a BS, magic is gone but they still can get cutie marks, nice. We literally had episodes based off this antagonist that STOLE cutie marks and managed to do it pretty easily too, but magic as a whole disappears and they still have cutie marks?
I thought one of the most ridiculues this is that Sunny becasme an Alicorn after one "hardship". It took Twlight for ever to get there and Sunny just got it like it was nothing.
hold on you gave it a sin about the connection to G4, but since you saw the whole movie 1st before making this video, you knew that G4 is ancient times and that the mane 6 are as mythical as Thor is to us in real life.
ngl i would have enjoyed the movie more if there was an alternate version where everything in the stories was true. the main character's dad dies at some point right? well just say he got killed by a unicorn or something and boom, super epic tragic backstory. then we get to see murder horses and have a good action filled time

Regardless of the multiple flaws, still a great movie, enjoyed it, looking forward to the upcoming series for gen 5 surprisingly cause I thought gen 5 was gonna be totally unenjoyable to me but I think I'm gonna end up liking it after all
I was really upset when Sunny became an allicorn at the end of the movie. It took Twilight three seasons worth of character development for her to get to that point. Unrelated, but I find it very funny that earth ponies got excited that magic was restored, even though their quality of life will not change at all.
I like how friendship between a small group of ponies is able to bring magic back to every single pony, even the ones that are still racist and learned absolutely nothing

Rarity couldn’t get those butterfly wings on her own, it was explained IN THE SHOW. So no, unicorns can’t just decide to fly or do powerful spells.
Interesting. I didn't notice that the time I binged G1-3 shortly after getting into FiM. To be fair, I only did it once, and other than some select parts of G1, it's kind of a suppressed memory. In any case, I kind of just assumed this movie is trying to make the TY plushies not look lazy. It still doesn't make a lot of sense if the world this movie is set in is supposed to be Equestria though.
