Anyone thinking of making a “Hey Google” counter? 😂 I said it so many times haha!
@StromBugSlayer

Google has removed yet another essential feature from its Hub/Nest device. Previously, if you connected external BT speakers to the Hub, it would play media (music etc.) on the BT speakers, but the Assistant would respond through the built in Hub /speaker. This is reflected in Google's own support documents: Google Nest Help - Help Center, where it says: "Note: All media playback will play on the external speaker that’s paired with the Google Nest or Home device. Alarms, timers and Google Assistant's responses will play on your Google Nest or Home device." This worked well, and in my case it was essential to my audio set up, as I prefer to power off my receiver/amp when not playing music, but the BT stays connected because it is a separately powered external receiver that passes the audio to my stereo and its connected speakers. I also imagine that if you used BT headphones with the Hub you would still want the ability for other users to communicate with the Hub while you were listening to music. This is no longer possible. Both media AND Assistant responses are coming through whichever speaker has been set to default. This means if I turn off my stereo, I no longer hear verbal responses from my Hub. It is such a shame that Google has cut back the abilities of the Hub instead of expanding them. A few years back they eliminated the ability to cast music to the hub from an Android phone. The motion sensing feature had such potential (it could have expanded to volume control, for example). Very sad!

Nice video from you. I enjoyed watching it. We have the Nest Hub first and second gen. Nest Hub. We don't use them anymore. And in our kitchen the Nest Hub Max. I love the look and talk features. I love the weather frog. In our bedroom we use the Pixel Tablet with the speaker dock. In our living area the Alexa Echo 15.

All I ever really use it for to check weather and set alarms or reminders. Integration with Smartlife/Tuya smart devices is poor. Whether it is a Nest Hub issue or Smartlife implementation of Google assistant compatibility is uncertain.

Nice review, I love the sunrise alarm on the nest but I wish there was a full screen clock that showed the day and the date instead of the current temperature. My other request would be to be able to turn off the alarm for today from your phone. Currently, all you can do is to delete your beautiful sunrise alarm so that you have to recreate it.

Do you notice much lag time with live camera feeds? I have 3 nest cams currently displayed on an Echo Show 8 and there is always a few second delay, noticeably longer than in the nest app on my phone. Thanks.
@ReaganVFilms
@ReaganVFilms 5 месяцев назад
I don’t see much lag time with live camera feeds with Nest Cameras (like the doorbell) being shown on the Nest display. What I found with the Echo Show or any Echo device really is that the delay shown is because of it’s third party alignment between companies. (Device to Nest to Amazon to You then Amazon to Nest to Device and if one is slow then it causes an entire delay chain).

Nice review bro. Even though my native language is not supported I really like google products. And there is one thing I wanna ask you. There is an option which you may pair two nest speakers to play stereo. I have a nest speaker and now I just bought a nest hub 2nd gen. Is there an option to play stereo sound with both nest spkr and nest hub? Thanks.
@ReaganVFilms
@ReaganVFilms 4 месяца назад
There is an option to pair stereo sound with bost the nest speaker and nest hub by creating a group in the Google Home app. However beware some streaming services like RU-vid may only allow you to do it if you have RU-vid premium. In my experience Spotify allows you to pair them without a live (paying) subscription.

is it still good in 2023? im looking to replace my echo dot. as i used to have issues with my echo dot slow responses/ cant really hear me although I'm nearby or not connected to the internet although it was. Wil this be much better or should i go for the new echo show 5 (gen 3)?
@ReaganVFilms
@ReaganVFilms 5 месяцев назад
The second generation is still good in 2023 and 2024. Honestly I think it's best if you go with the Google Nest Hub 2nd Gen because there are no advertisements on the screen, you have the broadcast feature, and it can hear you from far away still. I have both the Echo Dot and my uncle has the Echo Show and in my opinion I'm still sticking to the Google Nest Hub 2nd Gen. If you want I would wait until the end of May 2024 for the Google Nest Hub 3rd Gen if they really are coming out with a 3rd gen. Amazon: amzn.to/4aFIh9B Best Buy: bestbuy.7tiv.net/jr491P

Hello, is this your Nest hub 7 inch display 2nd generation or the latest one. I just bought 2nd generation nest hub from bestbuy $59.99. As I see your video, I could not find the Bluetooth and other things in the setting area.
@ReaganVFilms
@ReaganVFilms 5 месяцев назад
Hi there, the one I used in the video is. Nest Hub 7in Gen 2. In order to activate bluetooth you have to ask google “Hey Google, Turn On Bluetooth”. For other settings you will need to swipe up or down on the screen and follow the way I go to that setting.

Reading more into the google framework and trying to understand it. What you are saying is if i buy the Google Nest Hub 2nd Gen and then try and pair it with loads of google nest mini's. And then i try and play youtube through it. It will charge me a premium to do this? As in the only way it could work is if you subcribe to youtube premium? Essentially I planned to buy the 2nd Gen Hub and then lots of minis for each room. But if i have to subscribe i am not interested in the product.
@ReaganVFilms
@ReaganVFilms 4 месяца назад
If you will be playing it through RU-vid (just youtube itself) it will only play simultaneously only on one device. However if it’ll be for multiple speakers you will need to subscribe to RU-vid Premium for RU-vid Music.

Your video is very informational pertaining to some features that I was not aware of. However, I have been nudged by Google to sign up for a trial of the Google Home Nest Aware via my Google Home Next Max. It would cost me $80 per year. But, I can't figure out how to use this costly feature and I am not getting any help via Google's website, etc. What are your thoughts on this and would you know how I'd set this up to actually make $80 per year worth it? I'd like to record events when I am not home, but again, can't figure out the procedure for this. Looking forward to your help on this!
@ReaganVFilms
@ReaganVFilms 6 месяцев назад
I have used this subscription for a year now. The Google Nest Aware subscription allows you to use visitor announcements when someone is at the front door with their name through facial recognition and other nest security cameras. This subscription with a Google Assistant notifies you if there is glass breaking, smoke alarms going off, more through the Google Home app. In my opinion, in order to make this $80/yr worth it, use every feature possible. I'll try to make a video on this because there is a lot of things you can do with the Nest Aware subscription. By the way, with the nest aware subscription, you can add as many devices as you want to the subscription.

In my opinion, I like the Google Nest Hub than the Echo Show 8 2nd Gen. However if you want more flexibility (which can be a little more complicated) then go for the Echo Show 8 2nd Gen.

I have the 1st gen nest hub. Still any use now in 2023?
@ReaganVFilms
@ReaganVFilms 5 месяцев назад
I still use the 1st gen nest hub and 2nd gen nest hub. I find it very useful everyday in my two story home because with the broadcast feature I don't have to yell to tell everyone in my home to meet in one spot or it's dinner time. So it definitely still has a use today in 2023. Another thing is like turning on lights or it announcing who is at the front door whenever the button is pressed to save you some time.

@ReaganVFilms
@ReaganVFilms Месяц назад
You can connect it to the calendar using the Google Home app. Matter is basically a universal feature being applied to the new smart home devices being released. So let's say Ring goes out of business, with Matter will continue to work with the rest of your smart home devices even if Ring's servers are no longer in use.

Don't get it!!! It's not a local hub. You cannot control devices if the internet goes out. It's not matter compliant... Besides all the apps now are completely useless because google killed them...
@ReaganVFilms
@ReaganVFilms 4 месяца назад
While at the moment this is true, it looks like Google is in the works to make it matter compatible. blog.google/products/google-nest/new-in-google-home-io22/ “To help you get ready for Matter, we’ll update many Google Nest devices to be Matter controllers. This will let you connect all your Matter-enabled devices to Google Home, and control them both locally and remotely with the Google Home app, smart home controls on your Android phone or Google Assistant. Matter controllers will include the original Google Home speaker, Google Mini, Nest Mini, Nest Hub (1st and 2nd gen), Nest Hub Max, Nest Audio and Nest Wifi. Meanwhile, Nest Wifi, Nest Hub Max and Nest Hub (2nd gen) will also serve as Thread border routers, allowing you to connect devices built with Thread - like backyard lights that need long-range connectivity - to your home network.”
