All of it. And to answer the end of video I do not think D2 is playable. Game has been gutted and my wallet. The current state is laughable as well. I know Final Shape isnt going to be what's expected either. Nice vid. We needed this.
One of my biggest complaints about D2 is that the story is fractured. There are all these events that take place in the game now, that refer to events/story that is no longer in the game. I stop playing D2 after Forsaken and returned during Lightfall. I was blown away by how much story was removed from the game. The fact that Bungie did this, regardless of reason, is one of the biggest Bungie blunders ever, IMO.
@@folktriggels3543 Ridiculous take, they stopped updating legacy consoles for D1 when they stopped being capable of running the game. Update for consoles that can run it, call it a day. Sorry you were having loading difficulties, can’t have been on a M.2 drive.
Honestly, they should put past story missions in the records next to the postmate next to the new light campaign. They should also rotate past raids in legends playlist
@@zachrohler1047 I'd say if Bungie said the word Stolen content instead of Vaulted content, people would've actually said a whole lot more... probably involving something along the lines of threatening to sue because that's basically what it is. Even though it's technically "LEGAL", it shouldn't be because of that whole document thing at the beginning of the game that everyone skips. You know? The whole, "By accepting this blah blah, you swear that any and all decisions made by Bungie are legal/okay/fine." In all honesty, how can people just be so fine with this in the first place? They're taking our content! Money! People just roll over and are completely fine with the idea that over 120$ of our stuff is just taken. And btw there is no Destiny content vault. They removed it forever. Delated it. Gone. Look at Mars, we had to pay for it during Season of the Seraph to run around on the planet...AGAIN. Oh, but it's okay because Bungie Promises to give it back to us. We don't know if and when they'll give it back, but they Promise that they will. Isn't this just a highly sophisticated form of theft?
@@harrisonczichas3416 except the fact we never owned any of the content in the first place, we gained access not owing it, so bungie still has every right remove or add content as they please, and they removed all the content that people hardly ever touched or played, escalation protocol became the cat farm before shuri chi because how easy it is was to start and how efficient it was, we don't need everything returning for destiny to be good again, yes it's sad, but I'm honestly glad they vaulted content
@harrisonczichas3416 I'd say there would be more complaints about the game having 70 hour loading times, exponentially longer and bigger updates all for a few locations that had no current story impact nor did any players actually play. They didn't do it for shits and giggles it was a technical reason
@@astralhorizon1938 because bungie are shit developers. Theyve restarted the entire development process twice. They are still just as greedy if not more greedy than Activision was. It has literally gotten worse since Activision left. Battle passes, deluxe dlcs, fucking paid dungeons and paid events. Fuck outta here.
I remember playing destiny 2 on release day and the opening to that was fantastic it’s such a shame that if you start a brand new game now you play through destiny 1 all over again
I still have a bit of hope that at some point we get the option to play the old campaigns again, even if it comes as a separate/optioinal module for the game.
I just started playing recently, and the amount of holes in the story has caused me to not really care about it. i've ended up just skipping most, if not all of the cutscenes.
Yep I paid 200$ for everything Because of what they told me I would get. Never once did it say anything about permanent deletion of campaigns!!! I learned an expensive lesson
I really feel bad for new player who'll only ever have a half baked new light experience. I'll keep saying this, but Red War and the Osiris through Forsaken campaign were some of the best way to get introduced to the game.
Bungie has removed soooo much from this game, and yet they want us as the consumer to pay more. This was the validation I needed to see and hear to get me from continuing to support this lame company. You just really put into perspective how much of our money they have taken away and have given nothing. Dope video.
Bungie's fall was a foretold tale when they released DLCs for Halo and when they left Microsoft to make Destiny 1. It is a shame, because I respected them so much
I feel like a lot of people keep playing destiny like a toxic relationship, they know it’s bad for them but it’s comforting because they know the game, dunno any other game that removes more than they add,
Warframe has a version of it. For the prime frames and weapons, they get vaulted temporarily. They cycle between them. But they dont get outright removed. Folks still have them, you can still use the relics you got during that cycle to farm the peices, and they cycle through every few months. It's not anything you paid for
@@zachrohler1047 yea i started playing warframe recently and its pretty good but the prime access stuff is cringe, nowhere near as bad as removing 75% of the game tho like bungie
@@zachrohler1047 Not sure if this is a positive counter point or not but players who have farmed up prime BPs do still rotate them on the market so that there is still *technically* a way to get a prime even while it is vaulted. Which in itself is still better than Bungie who would have probably just told you to throw it away cause it doesn't matter anymore like they did with other things in your inventory.
As excited as I am for titan to return I know that once the final shape arrives the only way to be on titan will be the dungeon just like with the leviathan and duality
Titan was my favorite location, when levels were still a thing I farmed the spider tank events as well as the brood queen public events for loot levels and to get subclass shards to unlock them
I still enjoy it but it must really annoy players who invested time and money into dlc content and seasons just to get tons of this stuff taking away when ultimately the players paid for this stuff
It’s ultimately why I quit, it annoyed me a lot cause I felt like I get losing stuff I payed for and hated how the community would try justifying it by saying “people don’t play it anymore.”
worst regret i ever had in spending money on games was wasting 80$ on d2, just for the season to end and needing to pay even more money for the dlc and season pass
@@BueorrFalhen that doesn't make much sense, idk what dlc you're talking about but $80 sounds like an dlc + annual pass price which means if a season ended you would already have the next purchased. Also the dlc's are still playable today. Forsaken, shadowkeep, beyond light, witch queen you can all buy for a reduced price and play fully today. stop lying
@@colbypotts4903 i bought the annual pass near the end of the year, didnt get the next season pass, also the witch queen was another 70$, not gonna pay another 70$ and waste even more money
Red war and forsaken were two of my favorite campaigns that really motivated you to fight. Lightfall didnt really have that motivation it felt like i was doing side things while we lost. They really need to rerelease the old campaigns at minimum.
Black Armory is what annoyed me. Not only do I remember paying money for it, but also all the time endlessly, mindlessly, grinding it to get a decent Blast Furnace and the Curated Kindle Orchid. I've never been able to destroy them. They just sit in my vault right now as I can't up the light level.
Same here. I have a Feeding Frenzy/Rampage Blast Furnace and most of the other weapons that I just cannot delete…. They’re my favourite weapons aesthetically!
I didn’t hang on to them because I never thought bungie would UN SUNSET THEM! So yeah all the weapons that made me fall in love with the game are permanently gone
Bro seeing the destination material just gave me a shockwave of nostalgia I never imagined I’d genuinely miss material farming Just goes to show how even the little things had a huge impact
I played Destiny 1 and I always wanted the Fallen to become our allies, when I found out that this happened in Destiny 2, I was very excited to see their neighborhood in the last city... I started playing Destiny three days ago and I'm very disappointed.
A few things to add that I don't think can be gotten anymore that were missed are: the faction wars exotic armor ornaments for Crest of the Alpha Lupi, Eye of Another World, and Knucklehead Radar, as well as the Legend of Acrius ornament Emperor's Pleasure.
I feel kind of lucky to have played all the campaigns throughout the years. It has been part of my life for the past almost 9 years. I still have dreams of what I have done, and accomplishments. I would love to go back and replay some of the lost campaigns. Hopefully Bungie will make it possible after Destiny 2 comes to the end.
I remember being sad when Menagerie was removed, i used to run it for fun. Still can't understand why they would remove all the story missions though. I was lucky to get into D2 between new light (going free to play) and before Shadowkeep, and all the Story missions were amazing tutorials in my opinion. Especially Red War.
It shows how much FOMO is within the game. I understand having limitations in terms of file size, but it is a product many people pay for. Im not exactly saying ALL content from the seasonal model should stay, but at least a community voted aspect that returns rotating missed weapons to pop up. Make it available for New Lights so they don't miss too much of the beat. Please for the love of God. Bring back the D2 Crucible maps. It's been so long, that I completely forgot about so many of these existed and playing maps I've been stomping for 9 years is aggregious
WoW has now 130GB on my PC due to all the content downloaded (without mods). Despite being Activision/Blizzard, you can play classic servers until Wrath. ESO has over a 100 with an extra 80 to be able to download updates/content. FFS, the Sims 4 has 130 GB so far including 14 expansion packs, 12 game packs, and 45 stuff packs and kits. Not a single one has been taken away. And this is EA! Custom Content doubles that game size easly. Yes, it is a singleplayer game, but given its size, the player base and the year all these games came out, compare all that to Destiny 2. Bungie is only vaulting out of repurposing shit to get more money. Anyone who keeps playing or buying into that shit is co-responsible for a continuous content-removing and also animating other publishers to do likewise. Their decision to make it Free-to-play was already insane and an obvious money grab. So this video is pointless, since its audience are like 90% of current Destiny 2 players that will keep playing and buying. Stop playing and buying their shit and you will have your content back in no time.
Imagine if all this was still in the game. I hope one day all D1 and D2 content can be present in the same game at the same time. Edit: I know this is impossible, but a man can dream.
OMG, I didn’t realize just how thoroughly depressing this recounting would be. So many great memories flashed through my mind as you went through the list. All those moments lost in time, like tears in rain. 😢
I was around for a lot of this (I started playing during Forsaken) but missed out on a lot (not finishing things or starting them) because I had no idea what was going on or what to do when because the game handles new players so poorly.
I miss the Warmind stuff so much. Wish we could use the Valkyrie, Warmind Cells, do Escalation Protocol and also summon Heavy Frames...but yea, Rasputin is dead now, so all hope is lost.
Imagine D2 had ALL of this content right now. That would be one beast of a game. Now include the D1 content as well... I really hope there will be a real complete edition.
@@emmanuelmunchies The amount of potential players? I don't think the size of the game matters to the servers. I'm pretty sure consoles are the main issue.
@@DaBrain2578 Just don’t update for consoles that can’t run it, cap them in a legacy version of the game like they did in D1 with PS3 and 360. They can’t pretend like PS4 is viable in modern day for this game.
I feel like what they could do in order for new lights and people to experience old seasonal quests and campaigns could involve the corridors of time. Like for example you enter the corridors of time and there would be a fracture that could contain red war, secret exotic missions(zero hour, whisper), or seasonal exotic missions.
i still miss the leviathon raid, it had a great story behind it and made us wonder where the real calus was, plus it had some fantastic loot and i also missed the chance to grab honors of the nine which i pray and hope it will come back for at least a brief moment just so i can snag it
With Cayde coming back through the teaser trailer for Final Shape, they could re-add the old campaigns such as the goated Red War campaign and we could actually play the series in chronological order so New Lights will actually know what's going on in the story.
Imagine watching a new TV show, like The Walking Dead or something, but you can only start from season 5, and have no way to experience anything before that
I started playing during season of arrivals and with covid around I did nothing but just play through all of destiny, so glad I had a chance to experience most of these. I'd love to have them all again.
It seems odd that they would vault so much hard work that they did to design and create these worlds. Wonder why they didn't at least put it behind a paywall. I'd like to check out these older maps.
I just logged on to my D2 account after 4 years of not playing and I was using Sagira's shell when I last played. Yesterday I was thinking about updating and grabbing a new shell....now there is no way I am shelfing it.
@@doommetaldarryl6689 Hmm... It's "Meh" in my opinion. No more special than the auto rifle "Origin story" or the handcannon "Better devils". Nobody would be using those in D2 today though because I believe they're still sunset weapons. They still work good in their own ways though.
this video made me think about investing my time and my money to a better game. I love D2, still do, but sometimes it's hard not to feel robbed by Bungie.
Man I played destiny og for countless hours, played 2 when it was free for a weekend main lined the story then stopped till now. I came back and had no idea what was going on. Next thing I knew I was on a random mission in space. Then replaying most of the beginning of destiny 1. What the hell is going on.
I'm a fairly new player, so didn't get to experience around 90% of that 😕 Maybe I missed it, but they also removed the way to obtain Crow's exotic ship. Ager's Scepter questline also rewarded you the Reefborn Warbird ship Also, the dog is supposed to be back next season
I’m still so upset bungie removed the red war campaign. I really wanted to come back to the game just for that but the fact that they just completely removed it just baffles me. I hope one day they might bring it back but probably not.
It’s actually crazy just how much has gotten vaulted. I haven’t played the game for about a month now, and don’t look forward to getting back on. I ain’t gonna go through another damn relapse with this game 😂
In my opinion there is a big difference between losing content because of destiny sunsetting the game for some reason (all those raids, red war, etc) vs “losing” the seasonal content. We know ahead of time that it’s season specific activities, of course it won’t remain forever, the game would be brutally cluttered with old activities that hardly get touch. To me most of this video is “losing” seasonal content not destiny purposefully removing content to help their servers or something like they did with year 1 stuff
Great recap dude I unfortunately only really started playing halfway threw season 19 im still vary much enjoying the game however it would be vary nice if the story was complete I get why the removed it all but I feel like they could have tried a little harder to make it work so dissapointing especially with how much all the current content costs GG keep up the great work
They should make a survey asking all players, or specific platforms how lukely theyd be to download a huge dlc or something with all of this content back. Because I sure as hell would delete 200GB+ to download everything back
I miss zero hour more than anything. I still to this day use the exotic ship as my ship… mainly because nobody else seems to ever have it and I like the flex
I really need this stuff back. I dropped Destiny 2 after The Red War so I missed a LOT and just recently got back into the game. It’s seriously disappointing to see so much content lost to time. Destiny 2 is still a lot of fun without this content but I really want to play the campaigns and seasonal story missions I missed. Or at the very least let us watch the cutscenes for those missions in-game.
Removing all this story content has made it functionally pointless to be a new player or a returning player. One of the stupidest decisions they could have possibly made. Ive thought about getting back into the game for a long time but knowing I'll never get to experience the story makes sure I never will.
The seasonal stuff and smaller events makes sense that would go away but removing full campaigns and all the DLCs/Expansions, as a Day 1 Destiny 2 player having all that stuff taken still hurts a bit and I still don't fully trust Bungie after that, and it's still in the back of my head they might remove more expansions, I mean if the Core Campaign, 3 DLCS, and expansions people spent real money on(with no compensation) aren't safe I don't think I can fully believe the "We won't sunset anymore, promise😉" Trust is hard earned after something like that and they have a long way to go
You know for the final shape they should make every location playable again or at least the story so newer players can experience it for themselves because newer players don't know what's happening
Content Vaulting is basically a horrible way to do it. Loading times are not a matter like at all unless you got a machine that is waaay too old. If that is such a major issue, why not make a separate node to let you play old campaigns. They can be strictly single player only to reduce server load, then on completion, they give you a small reward to acknowledge the new player for their time.
Key Highlights are something that need to desperately return. New players have such a hard time getting into the game when they have no idea what's even going on. At least give a better way of catching players up other than a boring paragraph giving an incredibly brief explanation of everything so far.
I know leviathan isn’t the most loved raid and definitely not the best, but it was my first raid and I have great memories and to this day I love the encounters and the central areas as well as the underbelly
i would *happily* have a hard drive dedicated to D2 to have all of this stuff back. as someone who fall off playing D2 and came back recently i feel like i'm missing so much lore and i can't go back and experience it myself.
I'm aware this may be an idea a bunch of people share, but we should be able to play the seasonal campaigns along with the rest of the storyline, making it one big campaign. Altough certain campaigns are not a direct sequel to the last one, they could still be connected to others, indicating what happened after or meanwhile. We already have a menu that shows us the timeline, so it would be an ideal place to go there and play a certain part of the story.
If Bungie brings back Mercury, the Infinite Forest should be a firefight mode for Destiny like for Halo 3 ODST and Reach. It should also have sunsetted armor and/or Mercury Vex gear for rewards.
I wanna say it’s worth it still. Specially if you got a crew to game with. Even tho we keep losing stuff I do like having something fresh cause it keeps me playing rather than find a new game to play. I do hope they rotate the old stuff back in if even for a limited time. It would be a nice way to retrieve gear one did not obtain previously. IMO. I wanna see what megamind is doing to the traveler 😂
@@mackncheese1683most people do see it this way what are you on about LMAOOOO. Bungie boast about the player base rising but if you look at what the new players are doing they are just getting the new dlc and maybe witch queen and that’s it. They aren’t buying all the dlc
Tell me how it’s worth it when I payed $60 for this game in 2017 and what I payed for is all gone no access to any of it and I can’t even play trials. Then they have the audacity to say free to play. It wasn’t free to play for me where my content that I paid money for. The people who bought even more expansions than me should be even more furious. My friends telling me download destiny. I do and everytime I want to do something paywall. He was defending this shit and coming up with excuses; like activision was holding bungee back. Far as I see it back when I played at launch the worst thing was buying loot boxes. Now it’s battle passes, expansions, and dungeons.
the ratking and sleeper quest were so fun i definitely miss those and faction wars were nice, feeling extremely dedicated to new monarchy while prometheus lenz and graviton lance catalyst was broken just felt amazing (no it wasn’t)
Missing the Forsaken Campaign and Red War, i was lucky enough that i was able to play the first mission of the forsaken campaign with the downfall of Cayde-6 but from what ive seen there were so many awesome cutscenes, soundtracks within both campaigns...
As a story player this is why I won't play D2. I looked into getting into D2 6 months back and when I found out how much was cut from D2 it was DOA. No thanks.
I’m glad I came to the game early enough to experience the old campaigns and missions and all that stuff. If it wasn’t for my big brother then I wouldn’t even know this game existed.
I got REALLY into d2 around 3 years ago when covid hit and I used to absolutely love doing missions and just chilling on the tangled reef. Even tho I haven't played the game as long as many of the peeps in the comments have I still really really miss that destination and all the fun stuff on it. Would love to see d2 do an update where you get to visit some of these planets/ destinations even if it is in mission/nightfall form.
To answer your question at the end: No, I do not think it is worth playing the game nowadays. Gameplay is amazing, but the way they monetize the game combined with the fact you latter lose access to so much content is just disgusting.
Hearing about how much was lost makes me wish there was a singleplayer version where you could play the removed story content, it'd be a little harder since you don't have a crew, but I feel like if you're a veteran, then you'd like the challenge
Currently after final shape, yes it is. I do hope in the back of my mind that they bring all of this back afterwards when we move onto destiny 3, and maybe instead of weekly updates we get monthly updates so they have time to focus on destiny 3. Or at the bare minimum bring back the stories and just put them in the legends tab aswell as the raids.
When I was a new light I decided that I wanted to try a dlc, so I bought the forsaken expansion, not realizing that it had been sunset less than a month before, and I felt really scammed
As somebody who started playing in season of plunder, all the old content has so much praise and also looked so fun makes me mad that I didn’t get into the game sooner.
My only regret in destiny 2 was scraping my black arsenal weapons, even been "classic" weapons, I CANNOT get them back, if I knew I would have kept them in my vault until the end.
