Wow , I don’t own a Tesla or an EV for that matter but I just bought a brand new 2023 Hyundai and I was trying o get an understanding of paint protection, and you answered all my questions. Thumbs up here!!!
When are you going to come out with PPF to protect windshield from flying rock/pebbles chipping during highway driving? Would love to see you provide this. 😊
We have it on our list to test! Worried about it causing some distortion, so we'll have to do a video on installing it and see what it looks like. Safety is the #1 priority
I sprayed a ceramic coating on a new car. Now I’m going to get PPF. What do I use to strip the ceramic coating off so that the PPF doesn’t slip right off? Thanks!
Most spray ceramics are sio2 so the bond is still pretty strong. Most likely you’ll have to do a 1 step paint correction to make sure you fully strip it off. This will make adhesion much better when installing ppf.
I just spent fortune on my 2023 Ram 3500 DRW Limited , Night Edition for full PPF and Ceramic Coating afterwards., It is beautiful and is making the car wash a breeze on my driveway. PPF was Suntek.. I was told to strip it after the 8th year and then do the PPF on partial hood or full hood after the stripping. Otherwise, PPF film will be scrapped off to get it off the car. What is your recommendations for long term care.
Sounds like you're already washing by hand at home. That's the best way to wash, as automatic car washes can be harsh. If you use a pressure washer, keep the nozzle about a foot from the PPF and avoid spraying the edges. I'd wash every other week, give or take depending on driving conditions and environment. PH neutral cleaning solutions will be best for PPF (Ours are!: tesbros.com/products/car-shampoo-16oz ). Make sure to dry your car after a wash to avoid water spots. Your ceramic coating will wear off in 2-5 years, so keep an eye on that and reapply when needed.
Yeah that’s a great option. I recommend leather shield ceramic coating. It’s easy to apply and protects for about 6 months. Here’s more about it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zVPY-y6Hu5c.html
great video. do you recommend ceramic coating on top of PPF only if you’ve done PPF on the entire car? not sure if ceramic coating wears down differently on the PPF vs. the clear coat which would eventually make it look uneven.
Absolutely. We did a video on that actually! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-krXTc5Eso7w.html and it doesn't affect the self healing ability
@@tesbros awesome! thanks mate! i’m gonna have to test MOHS EVO with XPEL PPF LUX PLUS. This PPF has hydrophobic property, looks like it’s gonna be a bit tough work applying coating overtop.
@@ronpromdi I like coating it right away after installing ppf just because it's already clean and prepped. But another option is you can wait until the factory ppf coating wears off, then wash your car well and apply it then. Up to you and what you're comfortable with, but mohs shouldn't give you a hard time. Good luck! XPEL is a good one.
PPF is a great choice. Ceramic coating on top of that will just make it easier to keep clean and keep that shine for a long time. Totally optional and just depends on what you want from your wrap
@@KryptonicShadow if you’re talking about a color vinyl wrap, no it’s not for protection. Just looks! However, It does give you a very thin barrier of something in between the paint and the elements so that’s helpful, but it won’t protect against rocks and other blunt things. Watch this video about the differences between ppf, ceramic coating and vinyl wraps and hopefully that’ll help!
