Thanks for the comment - anything electrical has the potential for shock hazards if not installed correctly so not sure how to answer this apart from the whole unit is plastic housing - no metal so that would help - thanks Andi
Normally, whilst a little unconventional, I power these off the circulation pump. That way, the UV onbly runs when the circulation pump is running - which is what you want really. Thanks - Andi
@@Buildahottubwhat if my small 2-person spa doesn't have a circulation pump, it's only a 1hp pump,, the hot tub circulates when the low speed on the pump turns on a few X's throughout the day- this is how the ozonator also activates on this hot tub. The hot tub is only 170 gallon I want to have ozone + UV.
Hi there, thanks for the comment - no, I nromally power these off the circulation pump, that way it only runs when the circ pump is running. Hope that helps - Andi (ps the circ pump needs to be a 230V pump to do this)
My current hot tub system has a circulation pump that runs 24/7. Does a UVC sanitizer typically run 24/7? My control panel also has an ozonator which runs on a timer system, which could be another option.
Also it looks like the 15w unit you are selling only has a max flow rate of 7.5 m3/hour, whereas my circulating pump is 36-40 GPM (8.2-9.1 m3/hour), so would you recommend getting the 25w unit which supports up to 10 m3/hour?
Hi There, yes, you could do that or the alternative would be to plumb in the 15W with a bypass underneath and a flapper valve that will open should the flow be too much - both options will work well for you - hops that helps - Andi
@@Buildahottub Thank you for the reply. I now see the bypass option in some of the installation manuals from the manufacturers. That could be a good option. One other question if you can spare. I see some sites recommending a strainer installed inline to catch broken glass in case the bulb breaks. Any experience with that? It appears that Certikin manufactures one.
Ive never installed a strainer to be honest and have these on hot tubs which have more pressure than pools (not on a jet pump they have to go on their own circulation pump on a hot tub setup) Hope that helps Andi
